What are some really good NES games?
 

I got this emulation ish for my DS and I can play NES games on it now, but I never had an NES black in the day (first console was a 2600, second was a SNES, etc). So I know about only the games that my friends had and a few that I read about in some ultra old Gamepro issues.

So yeah, list wesome NES games here.

All time NES favorite: 3D Battles of World Runner AKA 3D World Runner. Just don't expect to beat this.

Other classics:
Mega Man 2, beaten this 15 times. The first mega man game is awful and the rest just don't feel the same. Possibly the best all around game on the NES.

Balloon Fight: Classic Action Series fun, you fly around popping other peoples balloons. Balloon Trip mode is where it's at though.

Clu Clu Land: Another classic action series game, except this one is really fucking hard to get used to.

MOTHER: Predecessor of EarthBound. Actually a Famicom game but your emulator should play it, and the translated version of it is known as EarthBound Zero.

Little Samson: Great platformer. Similar to Mega Man, but not trying to be Mega Man at all.

Kirby's Adventure: About as good as graphics can get on the NES

Ninja Gaiden/Ninja Gaiden 2/3: Good but hard as hell

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3

TMNT 2 needs six buttons tbh. Pretty sure TMNT 3 was actually built for the NES so I like that one more

Yeah, and you can get the original arcade version on Live, anyways.

Also, I a am of the unpopular opinion that Megaman 3 is better than megaman 2.

I did not say I never played NES, I said I never had NES. Big difference. All my friends had NES.

When I was 8, I came to Canada from Zimbabwe and discovered video games. I bugged my parents for an NES, they said no. I bugged them more, and I got an Atari 2600. At the time I was like "... k, thanks but this is not an NES". Then SNES came out and I got the SNES, Super Mario World and Ultraman for Christmas. WIN.

Oh, AssMan, or anyone else who knows, any word on fan translations of the rest of the Mother series?

There was this game black in the day where one player was a helicopter and the other was a tank. Can't for the life of me remember the title. A little help please?

K, so I've played like 90% of the games mentioned before and I was kinda surprised to not see classics like Ski or Die and River City Ransom in there.

That's where I got all of my roms at. I just copied the entire rom folders over, so I'm going to use these suggestions too.

Get Ski or Die and River City Ransom. Also, Bad Dudes.

And Burger Time.

Mother 3 patch is out and fully translated. www.starmen.net for all your needs there. Got a good deal into that, a bit different from the first 2 but it sitll has that same quirkiness to it. I actually have a copy of Mother 2 on Super Famicom :o

Mega Man 7 was on Super Nintendo. Weird note there, they made 1-6, then X, THEN 7, then 8 on fucking Playstation or something. Then they finally made 9 last year

I love Skate or Die 2 and I probably shouldn't. Never did beat the last level. Giant damn maze.

Just patched Mother 3 and am now loading all these bad boys on to my CycloDS right now. 100 NES roms all portable now. Fucking crazy.

My favourite - Eliminator Boat Duel
Noone knows about this game but its AWESOME. Seriously try it.

Back to the Future is one of the worst games of all time, I only bought it because it bore the name Back to the Future. All you do is walk through some weird ass town which is sposto be Hill Valley and shoot bowling balls at hula hoop girls and these fucking killer bees are out to get you. Then you throw milkshakes at bullies and try to win Loraine heart and play some bootleg version of Johnny B. Goode and you get one chance to send Marty back to 1985 and you will probably fuck that up and if you do then you start from the beginning of the game. This game is probably hurts your left hand more than any game in history

I will never play Bubble Bobble again ever. I actually beat the game on an arcade machine 10 years ago. Have never been able to play it since.

Noh Bubble Bobble is amazing. Dunno why I didn't post it on my list. And that sequel Rainbow Silkroad or something. Bubble Bobble 2.

Bad Dudes is like Double Dragon except it blinks like a mother fucker, isn't nearly as fun, and there isn't a real 2 player mode unlike Double Dragon 2 and 3.

It's worth one play through.

Guantlet 2 is alright and you should get BB2 aswell

Well the roms aren't hacked to work on the DS. That would probably be a lot of effort. What they do is make an emulator that makes the DS act like an NES.

If they can map buttons, they can map the screen.

Besides, the bottom screen (the touch one) is the emulator menu (which is entirely touch-based). You play the games on the top screen.

you can lol all you like. I have 80 DS games, 250 GBA games and 100 NES that I didn't pay for all on one game cart. And besides, if I really got to jonesing for Duck hunt, I could always Wii it up, as it's just as easy to play roms on it as on the DS.

Also I am going to take back a little bit about what I said about Little Samson not being like Mega Man. I never beat it but I think I'm at the end and there was this part where you had three blocks that you could stand on each one positioned higher and in a different position than the other ones and you were fighting a huge dragon. It was EXACTLY like the Dragon boss in the first Dr. Wily level of Mega Man 2. Pretty much the only difference was the detail on the dragon was way better and you stood on the left whereas in Mega Man 2 you were on the right.

Also the last bosses kept dropping these fuckin plasma balls like crazy and they were bouncing all around like Dr. Wily does in the 2nd to last level where he's in that crazy ship.

Mega Man 2 hits the iPhone.

Tecmo Super Bowl might still be the greateast football game ever. You should also try Bad News Baseball.

I had a cell phone version of megaman 2, and it was fucking impossible.
