WCW One Night Stand

An idea from the “WWE Releasing Rise & Fall of WCW DVD” thread, this deserves a thread of its own. Who’d want to see a WCW One Night Stand? What matches would you want to see on the card?

1. Fit Finlay vs. Lord Steven Regal

2. Buff Bagwell vs. Rick Steiner

3. Raven's Rules Match - Diamond Dallas Page vs. Raven w/Hammer, Lodi, Reese, Riggs, & Sick Boy

4. Four Corners Match - Juventud Guerrera vs. Kidman vs. Psychosis vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

5. Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Meng

6. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Malenko

7. Rematch from Nitro 1998 - Goldberg vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan

Xero 03-12-2009 05:13 PM

I'd like to see a War Games match as the main event. That would be bad ass.

Xero 03-12-2009 05:15 PM

That Bagwell match better be Judy Bagwell on a Pole.

Afterlife 03-12-2009 05:50 PM

Zodiac, or I don't care.

Triple Naitch 03-12-2009 05:54 PM

Zodiac vs. Robocop

Afterlife 03-12-2009 06:45 PM

Sold.

Jeritron 03-12-2009 07:09 PM

I think the window for this has passed. It's not that I think the market isn't still there. I think a lot of longtime wrestling fans would turn out for this, and give it a buy.
It's just the talent roster. They don't have that many WCW guys, nor are there that many who are still active, or free agents.
Most of them are retired, or in TNA.

Sting Fan 03-12-2009 07:09 PM

Its to late now.

5 Years ago sure, now its far to late.

IMO the only reason ECW One Night stand worked was they had a number of there stars who were still very active due to the fact that a lot of them were quite young in there ECW days.

Most of the WCW guys were mid to late career at the end of WCW so nows to late.

Kane86 03-12-2009 07:10 PM

I don't see it happening especially Raven coming back to work for them.

Fox 03-12-2009 07:26 PM

THE MAIN EVENT: ICON VS LEGEND
Sting vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair

STEEL CAGE MATCH
Goldberg vs. The Giant

OWNER VS EX-OWNER
Vincent Kennedy McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff

"The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett vs. Chris Jericho

TAG TEAM TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall) vs. The Steiner Brothers vs. Lance Storm & Elix Skipper

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH
Cactus Jack vs. Diamond Dallas Page

FATAL 4-WAY MATCH
Chavo Guerrero vs. Psychosis vs. Juventud Guerrera vs. La Parka

2/3 FALLS MATCH
Billy Kidman vs. Rey Mysterio

Booker T vs. Dustin Rhodes w/ Dusty Rhodes

Hanso Amore 03-12-2009 07:45 PM

There is nothing appealing about that card at all.

Fox 03-12-2009 07:49 PM

Sorry, Hanso. WCW didn't have many transvestites or else I would've put in a "tranny on a pole match" just for you.

Also, DDP vs. Cactus Jack NHB would be fucking amazing.

Fox 03-12-2009 07:50 PM

In fact, Mysterio vs. Kidman 2/3 Falls, the 4-way cruiserweight match, Goldberg vs. Giant and Sting vs. Flair would all be worth paying for. Stupid ass.

Xero 03-12-2009 08:04 PM

Where would they hold it? Somewhere in Georgia?

Maybe the old sound stage? :shifty:

Triple Naitch 03-12-2009 08:05 PM

Universal Studios

Lock Jaw 03-12-2009 08:27 PM

3 Count vs. Jung Dragons

Actually, I think it should be Zodiac & The Disciple vs Bootyman & The Butcher :shifty:

Cuzziebro 03-12-2009 09:08 PM

Anything with La Parka in I would watch.

DarKCentaur 03-12-2009 09:32 PM

High Voltage vs The Villanos

Hanso Amore 03-12-2009 09:39 PM

YEah, Sting vs Flair was great, 18 years ago.

DarKCentaur 03-12-2009 09:41 PM

We're also forgetting the epic big man match I've always wanted to see: Reese vs Roadblock

Kalyx triaD 03-12-2009 09:42 PM

I have a better idea than WCW One Nite Stand. Just bring it back as an ongoing series.

I'd call it... TNA.

Good Ol JG 03-12-2009 09:42 PM

I don't care about the card, as long as we see the YETTTTAAAYYY

DarKCentaur 03-12-2009 09:45 PM

Also, how has nobody mentioned Glacier yet? Glacier vs Jerry Flynn, A MARTIAL ARTS SHOWCASE

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-13-2009 01:00 AM

3 way with Ernest the cat Miller... remember he had a black belt in karate

Unless 90% of the card is cruiserweight matches, then this is a horrible idea.

Anybody Thrilla 03-13-2009 02:12 AM

Jay Leno vs. Karl Malone

Mr. JL 03-13-2009 02:17 AM

I just do not see how it would work and generate enough buys to be justified.

How much does it cost to book Ice Train these days?

Hornicane 03-13-2009 02:20 AM

David Arquette would have to make an appearance.

Anybody Thrilla 03-13-2009 02:23 AM

Scotty Riggs vs. Sick Boy

He worked my birthday party for 15 bucks and a McDonalds extra value meal coupon.

Silver King vs. El Dandy in an 'I look out of place in my division' match.

thedamndest 03-13-2009 02:36 AM

Prince Iaukeu needs in on this.

Anybody Thrilla 03-13-2009 02:47 AM

Disorderly Conduct vs. Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom

"Hole in One" Barry Darsow vs. Kendall Windham

Ciclope vs. Super Calo

Rammsteinmad 03-13-2009 04:51 AM

Taking into consideration who's still around these days, Rated R Classics card looks pretty decent except Hogan VS Goldberg which would probably be the most expensive (and the general worst) match of all time.

FourFifty 03-13-2009 04:56 AM

Chris Benoit vs Woman in a casket match.

Truthfully, I think that would be fucking hilarious. Especially if some hero of WCW came out and beat the shit out of him.

Mr. Nerfect 03-13-2009 07:06 AM

War Games as the main event would be awesome, but the depth of the talent roster would make this a bit of a risk, in my opinion. I'd rather see the WWE bring back War Games for its own programming after an event like this.

Chris Jericho, The Giant, Rey Mysterio, Fit Finlay, William Regal, Chavo Guerrero, Jimmy Yang, Jamie Noble, Gregory Helms, Dean Malenko, Norman Smiley are all under contract.

One match that WCW One Night Stand should really include, is Terra Ryzin (Triple H) vs. Damon Striker (Edge), in a "Guys Who Never Made It" match. That would be hilariously awesome, especially if they played the same characters.

Goldberg/Hogan in 1998 was Nitro’s best moment.

I loved those times. During any match, the crowd was lively. Nitro was so great back then, and anyone vs. nWo was money. Goldberg vs. Hogan was just epic, and honestly, neither man has anything to lose by losing a rematch. Both of them are legends, and that will never change.

Hogan: We have nothing to lose! C'mon Billy! Job for the Hulkster, bro.

Goldberg: If we have nothing to lose, why don't you job?

Hogan: .............OW MY BACK! Vince, I can't do the match, dude. :'(

Kalyx triaD 03-13-2009 07:13 PM

Look how sloppy they planned the spots. 'Basketball Cutter' on Mr. Perfect during Goldberg kicking out of Hogan's Leg Drop. No sense of pacing or direction. You really don't notice these things until some time has passed.

PorkSoda 03-13-2009 11:33 PM

Van Hammer vs. Scott Norton.

Submission match
Dean Malenko vs. Chris Jericho (Jericho wins by pinfall)

Bowling Alley Match - 1st one to get 3 strikes in a row wins.
DDP vs. Randy Savage (DDP wins when he Diamond Cutters Savage into a concession stand)

First Blood - Hulk Hogan vs. Roddy Piper. During the match, Hogan gets busted open then Everyone from nWo black and white, nWo Wolfpac, Warrior, LWO, Harlem Heat, and Raven's Flock interfere and Sting wins the first fall by making Scott Hall submit to the Scorpion Death Lock. Then Raven and Saturn team up to defeat Harlem Heat for the tag titles and The Giant returns to win the battle royal only to get thrown over the top by David Arquette. And this is a First Blood match mind you....

Thats how it SHOULD go if they have a reunion show.

Jeritron 03-14-2009 10:42 AM

I think in 04 or 03 this would have been immense.

Anybody Thrilla 03-14-2009 01:22 PM

PorkSoda probably has the best looking card so far.

Probably the most realistic possibility if it happened, and slightly similar to wcw circa 1999-2001.

Why did Raven get his own set of rules? Everybody should have tried to get away with that.

'This match will be contested under JERRY FLYNN'S RULES! In order to win, you must be SUPER SWEET at martial arts and have a CURLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYY MULLLLLLLLEETTTTTT!'
