Kid jumps off roof with a makeshift parachute... Wrestling games blamed.

I just don't get how they're saying he was imitating Smackdown vs. Raw when he jumps off of an apartment building with a parachute. There aren't even any parachutes in the game nor is there a roof to jump off of.
The only game that I can think of that had that was Backyard wrestling... but that's not main stream enough to garner any kind of interest. So why not blame WWE. The kid is fond of the game so obviously he was trying to do what they do... even though none of them actually do that... Blame the negligent mother who left her 9 year old special needs kid just to go to the store. |
Most of the comments on that article said anything I could say about it.
|
Also, that kid was probably like 3 when Backyard Wrestling came out.
|
OH NO! We must send angry threatening letters and make nasty blogs to prove that this isn't true!
|
You know, the mother might have a better case if she claimed her son was doing drugs in order to imitate her favorite wrestler Jeff Hardy....
|
Why would you be sending a nine-year-old to the store? Sounds lazy.
|
Well, I guess I used to go to the store when I was nine, but I was never sent there. I was usually just buying candy or a playing the coin-ops.
|
it's generally acceptable to leave your 9 year old at home while you go shopping
|
Then again, he DID jump off his own building, so maybe this just horribly backfired on them.
|
It's possible they could have figured the store was not thirteen stories, and if he was going to refuse to give them his makeshift parachute, he'd have a better shot at survival there.
|
lol. Just caught that as well.

Ridiculous.
|
Everyone knows you're supposed to imitate wrestling moves on a trampoline or possibly a pool.
|
He was trying to do a Swanton. They found him on his back. He succeeded.
|
How does he do a swan dive like Jeff Harding in Smackdown?

Ridiculous that WWE is being blamed. Blame the mother for leaving him alone. Also, I know all this has been said, but why was it so easy for him to get to the roof?
I liked this comment: Quote:

"If I would have seen him up there, I would have told him not to do it."
I would hope so. |

That kid sounds fucking retarded.
And that's my two cents... |
Okay, It's Ironic me and my friend were talking about this the other day while putting in battlefield modern combat (cause I don't play many video games and that’s the only in years I’ve put at least 10 hours into)
We talked about the soldiers jumping of perashoots 3 stories high ( I think you have to be 50 or higher) and how some stupid kid would try it one day. The media loves to blame wrestling......look into battlefield modern combat dip-shit-media, they jump of roofs that are 3 stories high. In fact, one of the complaints I have with Smackdown vs Raw 09 is how they took out a lot of the Arial stuff (or if you can do it tell me) like simply climbing on the guard rail..... and in older versions every arena had different things to climb, for example the king of the ring set had a huge chair as part of the set where the titantron would usually be, and you would be able to climb it...every arena was unique with its own places you could jump from. There aren’t many unique spots per arena in the newer versions. |

Horrible, I know, but still, makes you wonder why his folks weren't paying attention to the kid. |
Did anyone make the connection after reading my post. I was going to make an edit write away cause I thought about it after clicking and had to go, I'm sure eventually someone would have said the same thing.
The game that you jump out of a 3 story (i think even 2 stories) building is called Battlefield Modern Combat... The Pentagon gives out tons of money and other resources for these games to be made, and not make *the army look bad*(edit). Just look at the power the pentagon has over war movies in the motion pictures guild of America or whatever it’s called. They screen every movie and actually have advisors on set to make sure recruiters can still recruit. If you don't want to fallow the pentagon’s rules then you don't get access to anything military (which CGI is eliminating the need for I guess) Notice in a lot of cheaper budget movies the US military attire is changed, there’s a reason for that (might just be that they don't want civilians with them, I see it mostly in Stephen King movies but I guess it's supposed to be set in another fantacy world line) The point I'm getting at is Modern Combat, (the war is in I believe set in Kazakhstan (or one of the K-stans) with NATO troops either defending or pushing their way towards the Chinese boarder, I believe there is also an arab/islamic coalition of unnamed countries. pretty much the place around Russia where the US army is placing themselves in right now for possible future cold war 2, army and navy.(with all the Russian territories/former territories which part of the populations [depending on the country] either wanting to be part of the EU or be part of Russia again, causing lots of civil unrest. that's where our kids are going to be, especially if they make the dumb move of letting those new EU countries full of enemies join NATO, putting us at their every war against Russia and Rebels who want to be part of Russia, but I’m sure Obama see’s it as a way to expand the war on terror. That would be a great way to start world war 3. I'm sorry if I went off topic but the point is the Pentagon and Military recruiters love this game and others like it, they like to sell the army is being more sophisticated with much more unmanned weapons and drones "like a video game". It's training them military tactics for when they get real training and the army knows this...god forbid they crack down on these games...The WWE is Expendable Keep In mind all 4 major networks in the states have interest or are straight up owned by military contractors and the 2 biggest news sources (Reuters and AP) are owned by bankers who make money of such wars. We live in a Tyrannical-Mediacorcy, not a democracy, or a Constitutional-Republic for that matter. edit and by Mediacrocy i mean MEDIAocrocy...... |
Nobody cares noob.

I feel sorry for you if you didn't understand any of that. I'll make it simple.
-The government and TV stations like NBC (who are owned by GE whom are the people who make money of wars.) They blame wrestling games and they don't have to blame the WarGames they need to recruit a next generation of kids for war. the government makes a free video game every year for god sakes and gives it away for free once again that was probably to much for you to read or handle... |
.............................................................................so what you're saying it's all a conspiracy against wrestling?
|
You shouldn't chide anyone for not understanding what we can only assume from the recognition of words is the English language. In wading through your post, I am not sure if you think Modern Combat is itself produced by the military. It isn't. You might be thinking of America's Army.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America%27s_army As far as movies go, I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you have any kind of list from the Pentagon we could see? |
This kid took the fail boat to heaven :(
SERIOUSLY! Have you ever seen a wrestler for any company use a parachute for anything? |
lol
awesome |
I thought he was imitating Owen for a sec...
Nah just kiddin...sad to hear about the kid though. |
Quote:
Inevitably he'll overshoot the arena by a mile and run back. |

Oh, wait... |

No, but seriously, the kid tried to rappel from the sky, but it just didn't work. He couldn't seem to get the line to stay up....:wtf: |

Well, probably not or they would have blamed Kurt Angle.
|
Nothing significant will come out of any of this. So I don't see what the problem is.
On the other hand, the whole theory about the pentagon using wrestling to get attention away from war games or whatever that was about... |
Look guys, I have a time machine. I CAN SAVE EDDIE GUERRERO.
|
You'll be claiming to be Dylan Sprouse next
|
|
I never said that the Army or pentagon pays for Modern Combat, they give them aid and money though.
And if you actually read my post you'd read the part where I say the military even makes a game every year(Americas army) And am I saying it's a conspiracy against wrestling? Yes I believe so...when the media and police conspire together to make something out to be something its not, than it would be a conspiracy against wrestling I guess. it’s funny, I’ve been reading these post forever and usually people mock noids posts... is this his defence mechanism? Whom ever said I’m wrong about the pentagon sponsoring military games as well as movies, even having the right to edit the movies. Proof me wrong. Seriously, you're the parent...don't you think you'd get the best case settlement suing THQ and WWE and opposed to just EA? I’ve never seen a perashoot in wrestling. |
you sure showed me...
Quote:
I clicked pentagon censor movies and clicked "I’m feeling lucky"... Google, it isn't hard to use. (edit, I just read the reference is socialist news[but I guess you're (USA) a socialist country now]) you can find more, I just clicked on the first one Well I guess it happens in movies AND video-games as you said yourself. Yes I knew what America's Army was, that’s why I said the military makes its own game every year. You don't think they offer aid to these other games? do you want me to find you proof for that too... how about this time you proof ME WRONG as I don't need to prove you right on anything, I read a lot and that's something I read in college for crying out loud. Proof me wrong....or call me noob or stupid, whatever you prefer. |
JYUUUUST PROOF ME WRONG
|
for being college educated you sure didn't learn that the word "prove" exists.

haha, Owen was the first thing that came to my mind too......it was the only thing that made sense , with the perashoot being a cape.... I bet you anyone watching over the edge that night or just remember the whole thing thought of Owen at some point....4 people have mentioned him including me...
RIP.... he didn't have any dependency's on drugs (as far as we know) but he did have a dependency on his family... sad sad thing..If he wouldn't have retired, by 2002 he would have been the biggest locker room leader along with taker....respected verteren |

I'm not sure what "proof" I'm meant to look for. You're the one that came in here claiming that the pentagon was secretly rooting for all these war games to succeed, if they weren't in fact secretly backing them. I pointed out that they weren't the masterminds behind Modern Combat, but that they did make America's Army, and you agreed. The onus is on you to find the proof of your own claim if you are to be believed. By the way, by the logic of the pentagon's movie list, wouldn't they have a similar list or department for games? So you could probably rule out any sort of war game that makes the military look bad. Just to give you a head start on that proof. |
try this "pentagon and the video game industry" and feel lucky...
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3131181/) ya they take out the blood and make it look fun...it's a recruiting tool. stop trying to argue with something that’s true. Read above, or do your own research. "It's basically like the government becomes a movie producer. They back you, so they get to make whatever suggestions they see fit. You're still free to shop your movie around some place else. In your first post you indicating that every movie that came out was subject to automatic government restrictions" I said military, and if not it was surely implied as I was talking about war games. I'll get the name of a movie about such censorship; I think you should watch it they spend a great deal on how the pentagon makes them put things in movies. I doubt you read the whole article if you stop at that... *if you did you wouldn't put that quote, in less you're the bill O'reily of this board. I could easily post a few paragraphs and change the whole story making it look like the pentagon is in charge of the movies (if i take a quote from back in world war 2 era) just like you took them talking in past-tence quotes about how it was and leaving out how it got worse.*(edit) The point is video games, google "pentagon and the video game industry" and click "i'm feeling lucky" |
I didn't stop at that part. I quoted it because it is the only relevant portion of the article. Whomever has the money, be it in a video game or movie gets the say in what goes in. I asked you to find some more examples of the military producing games, and through your bizarre method of googling by way of feeling lucky you did. I noticed that the game you selected happens to be on the list of "see other" in the America's Army" wikipedia link that I began this discussion with. It also meets the criteria I suggested in post 59 of having all the excess violence stripped away.
But the thing is, we're not really arguing over how many video games the military produces or which films have used the military's suggestions/money. The director is free to not take the money and not get access to the Pentagon's knowledge by the admission of your own first article. As I previously stated, many films have done so and succeeded. Here's a question: do you know how movies get made? |
Quote:
|
Fucking conspiracy theories when a kid goes an hero? You people serious?
|
In want sense? As in a producer backs the movie and the director tells the director what to do, if you're asking if I'm in the movie business... No I'm not. But I have a pretty good idea on how a movie gets maid/marketed. Explain your question better, as well as it’s relevance. I Know how a movie gets censored pretty well as i’ve read about it and also seen a documentary on it.
Interestingly enough you started talking about how it's not what we’re arguing about yet didn't stay on track with what we WERE talking about. and that is that the media has interest, as you've said yourself after reading the links, in these games for military recruitment. it's as simple as they have more interests (as WWE is pro military/recruitment...so they aren't totally useless to them )in the games like modern combat and not nearly so much companies like WWE which are expendable. I happen to think if you jump out of a perashoot and think you can land off 2 story's i'd put my money on battlefield over any wrestling game ever made. Can we not agree on that. |
People are stupid.
|
Where is the relevance with any of this garbage you're sprouting and the media sensationalisation of a kid's tragic death? Dude, we don't need a conspiracy theory to understand that a) journalists like to do stuff like this, it makes their job easy and b) everyone loves a scapegoat.
You remind me of Joey's attempts to appear smart in the episode of Friends when he buys one volume of an Encyclopedia. It's like you've recently seen a TV show or read something online about this and really, really want to show how smart you are by repeating it to anyone in ear-shot! |
You think I'm the one that derailed the thread? Please refer to page one and your rant about our MEDIAocracy.
So you know about what a producer does. Why do you have remaining issues? If the government is giving money to make a film, why is there a problem? Should they not be afforded the same rights as any other producer? You can through around the word "censored" as if it's going to skew the argument, but what it comes down to is the way the movie is produced. If the director doesn't like the changes he doesn't have to take the movie. I have no idea what you are trying to say about wrestling games and military games and "perashoots." Be more clear. In fact, be more clear in general. |
Giving this much attention to a joke account seems pointless. Still, I cracked up at pareshoot.

I don't know. He's going to a lot of trouble to continually edit his posts, which were already bad, but this tells me he actually was concerned about adding something to the content. That's good attention to detail for a sock.

First thanks for agreeing with what I said, and how the media "likes to use scape goats".. Second I'm sorry for insulting everyone’s intelligence, you already all already came to this conclusion but it sounds like a conspiracy so let’s just talk is if the kid actually did like wrestling. Third, you made me laugh pretty hard with that 1 encyclopaedia reference, there are many more encyclopaedia... Sorry I haven't gotten around to the WWF Encyclopaedia yet. I'm no one trick pony, and I guess you’ll find that out if you continue to mock everything I say, man some people on the board have some sort of inferiority complex in the real world and try and act like kings here. If I were to have such a conversation on campus or at work, It would have gone nothing like this. If someone disagreed they’d say something in a mature mater. Also I doubt the guy standing there that just met me would have the nerve to say “you probably saw some show about it recently”, how about I’ve written essays on the subject (that for some reason where graded in the 80s-90s, tpww marks harder than college I guess) as well reading books and writing essays on a variety of subjects for years on end, I don’t do fiction in less its TV. I guess I can't edit any typos's i might notice after posting it since I get criticized for that too, even though I’ve always left a * next to what I edit within a minute of the post... |
Sorry I would make an edit, I meant the kid doing it cause of wrestling and not liking wrestling.
|
"man some people on the board have some sort of inferiority complex in the real world and try and act like kings here."
Yeah, you aren't exactly acting the opposite here, buddy. |
I await your long-winded post no one will give a shit about.
