The Tonight Show w/ Conan O' Brien
Finally. I've been waiting for him to take over, and the night is finally here. Thoughts? Think he'll do decent? I have faith that he'll be entertaining, although I don't have enough faith in people to think they'll accept his non-Leno stylings.
|
Excited as well. I think he'll do fine. The dry run tapings were apparently hilarious and still very Conan-style humor.
|
Meh. Not a Conan fan, so not caring.
|
His guests are Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam. Ferrell better not be a fuck and try to upstage Conan.
|
I can't wait at allllll. I will now have the unfortunate decision of watching Conan's monologue or the Colbert Report every night. :'(

Very excited for Conan  |
Can't wait. It's been a long month without Consey. :-\
|
Is this going to be live?
|
I don't think so. Normally late night shows are taped at like 5 in the afternoon... I'd imagine tonight is no exception.
crossrine |
It's starting...:D
|
SOOO glad they have the same music.
4S too. |

totally forgot about Andy Richter

I don't think he'll do well. Old people don't "get him"
|
Nice to see Andy there, but I miss Joel. :'(
And even though it's the same people, "Max Weinberg and the Tonight Show Band" makes me die a little inside. </3 JUST NITPICKIN' THO crossrine |
lollll choco taco
|
I'd be pissed if Conan bought me toilet paper and other people got whiffle ball bats
|
James Wormwood as a permanent member of the band

Also, I am as well thrilled that he kept his music (granted they updated it a bit.) And fuck old people, if they don't get Conan, they can go die. |
Is there like a monster or something on that backdrop behind Conan or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
|
swear to god it looks like eyes and a big orange ball behind him
|
rofl the Taurus
crossrine |
I love my Cli-Taurus.

The thousand dollar question is "will Will Ferrel bust out his green speedo for the Leprechaun dance?"

Pearl Jam needs to bust out Nothingman
|
5 minutes in here and I already love it :D Same music ftw.
|
I missed Conan so much :(
|
Pretty awesome
|
I was very happy. Although I think Leno should have been his first guest. But hey....
|
I dunno about him being the FIRST guest, but I definitely think he should make an appearance sooner rather than later. I think if they had Leno on the first night it would kind of take away from Conan being there and taking over, all that ish.
crossrine |
Yeah, especially since Conan was Leno's last guest 4 days ago
|
But yeah, very happy with the first episode. So funny
|
lol 'Literally not one single person thought you could do it'
|
Mad good first ep. New studio is crazy.
|
I am excited to watch Conan every night now. So sexy. 20 minutes.
crossrine |
Looks pretty good with Tom Hanks & Green Day
|
I hope this Twitter Tracker is a recurring thing. ROFLing so hard right now.
crossrine |
Just saw the new Star Trek movie. Wow! Really good.
crossrine |
LOL I loved the twitter thing
|
Rodeo Road made me piss myself. And the twitter thing was fuckin hilarious.
|
Oh jesus I missed Conan :'( <3
crossrine |
|
lol these quick cuts to Max are killing me.
|
ROFL did you see that Asian guy who was SO EXCITED for Kareem Abdul Jabar? LOL Dying right now. HILARIOUS
crossrine |
Pierre Bernard
|
Jimmy Fallon commercials leave me entirely neutral.
crossrine |
The Year 2000 with Andy
|
Just said this in my Casual Forum thread (http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2568083) but I am marking out every night for Conan now :'(
crossrine |
LOL on fire right now, "Coop and Coco are hanging out!"
|
Jimmy Fallon is fucking horrible, but Conan is on fucking fire.
|
LOVED that they brought back "In the year 2000/3000".
|
The entire Tom Hanks segment last night was fucking classic.
|
Anyone knows what's the story behind the host change? To be honest that's the first time I even hear about it.

I may be alone in this one, but I actually kind of enjoy Late Nite with Jimmy Fallon. |
I don't hate Jimmy, I just think he needs to find his groove. It took Conan a few years to find his deal. I think with enough time he can be pretty good.
|
OK , thanks.
I know I've seen Fallon in many skits on SNL, but the ones that come to mind were him playing Adam Sandler on Celebrity Jeopardy and that tech support guy. Too bad I can only watch stuff like that on the internet. |

I think the show is pretty good overall. Definitely still Conan.
Though I'm not a fan of Richter. Miss the Conan/Max sidekick combo. |

The one thing I notice about Conan is even though he has this pressure on him in the "Tonight Show" Slot, he still has phenomenal command on the stage. You can just see all his experience... his transitions are smooth, he's always calm and cool and he never gets rattled from a bad joke, so he pretty much embodies the spirit of all the great late night talk show hosts. |
|
Don't get me wrong, I love Andy. I just find the "unseen laughter" element kind of unsettling. Like if he was onscreen it would be much better.
crossrine |
Andy has been annoying the crap outa me...dunno maybe I'll get used to him.
|
He's too over the top, and that says something when talking about Conan.
|
Never liked Andy Richter. :'(
Seems like a "really nice guy" but never found him that funny. :( |
He definitely gives off the "I don't deserve to be here so I gotta act overly appreciative of my role" vibe. I don't know. I still like him. :$
crossrine |
Nah not gonna say I don't like him.
Just think he never really added that much or something, but it's kind of a tough role to be in in the first place. Like it is really hard to be funny as "Conan's sidekick" but still not upstage him. The announcer role is kinda rough. I feel like he "tries to be funny" sometimes whenever he gets a chance but it is really hard to be funny in that situation so like kinda comes off as "try hard" b/c he's trying to make something out of nothing. :( Also yeah the laughing at every joke off camera thing is kinda annoying. FEEL BAD FOR HIM. :-\ |
Though you can't blame him for laughing at the jokes lol, Conan has been on fire.

LOL YES Figures Friday is the only night I didn't watch this week :'( crossrine |
ugh now i gotta make it a point to stay up and watch conan now. he's been on fire i love him.
|
SI CONANDO.
|
David Duchovny is probably the most boring guest ever.
That comedian wasn't very funny either. All in all, tonight's guestage kinda sucked. Conan was tops, as usual, however. crossrine |
I've never really liked Richter. Liked Joel way better. I miss the old bastard. :-\
|
FUCKING LOVE TWITTER TRACKER.
If this is on every Tuesday night I have a new weekly thing to look forward to. CREAM OF TWEET crossrine |
COMPLETE THE TWEET
HO YEAH, OH YEAH EVERYTHING'S FINE crossrine |
CONANDO
|
Twitter Tracker is amazing.
|
Eddie Murphy sounds like Butthead when he laughs :(
|
My sister texted me about Twitter Tracker so I turned it on for that then turned it back off at commercial. :o Too tired to laugh atm :'(
crossrine |
Norm Macdonald, Jim Gaffigan and Conan were all on my television at the same time a few hours ago. I <3 all of them. Norm seemed especially SAUCED tonight
|
Still love that interview from a few years ago
Norm: I uh, came here on the airplane... and stuff. Conan: You always kill with that line. |
Norm was gold last night.
|
Even Richter was solid last night
|
I don't get all the Andy Richter hate (OK, "hate" is a strong word). The guy is solid, and he sets up a lot of stuff for Conan to play off. I really like him as the supporting player. Plus, Conan still interacts with Max, which is great.
I think Richter is funny, and I'm glad he and Conan are together again. |
Gotta say that I have really grown to enjoy Jimmy Fallon.
I know this is the Conan thread but people were discussing Fallon's show too. At first I thought it was a huge trainwreck and felt bad for him. I thought it was gonna bomb or something Over the past couple weeks though I've been enjoying the show a ton. It's not Conan, but I still have a blast watching it. One hour of late night tv isn't enough, so having this show be entertaining is awesome. I really like how the humor/writing is wise enough not to try too hard. It has its own style. I think the concept of having him play games with his guests is incredible. Like playing air hockey with a celebrity is so simple it's genius. He's pretty good with his guests, and makes great conversation. It's just amazing to see him and Jim from The Office play video games, or him play beirut (beer pong) with one of the Golden Girls. That shit is surreal. I think its amazing that he's doing the whole Saved by the Bell thing. His biggest strength is that he's dialed into the current mid 20's generation. |
plus AD Miles is his head writer and he's amazing

I also like Jimmy Fallon. I haven't watched him at all since Conan came back on though.
|
I haven't been watching Fallon at all, but I've heard some of the stuff he's been doing on his show and it intrigues me to the point where I might try and catch him every now and then.
crossrine |
I like Leno better. I've watched a little bit of Conan's opening bit and I haven't found it very funny. Both nights I watched I flipped over to Lettermin and stayed there. I'll give Conan a chance but so far I'm not impressed.
I have no Conan experience before now. |
Will Arnet is a Law & Order geek. That's awesome, i love him for that
|
Jimmy Fallon is so horrible that even the audience wont laugh when the sign lights up.
