Halo 3: ODST
 

Great addition to the Halo saga. ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) follows a band comprised of the badass shock troopers that join Master Chief in certain battles in Halo 3. The story is a prequel to Halo 3, taking place during the events of part two. Because you're playing regular humans (albeit exceptionally badass ones), certain abilities from playing a Spartan are gone. Should be interesting, and it looks great.

• Special Night Vision mode for those dark missions.
• No more regenerating health, Halo 1's health packs are pack. You're only human!
• Covert versions of Halo weapons, including a silenced SMG, and a special pistol.
• Said pistol is a powerful zoom-enabled covert weapon - Halo 1 pistol returns!
• Long falls cause damage, again an element from the first Halo game (hmm...).
• Co-op play for up to 4plyrs over Live returns.
• Firefight Mode is a Bloody Palace/Horde Mode inspired gauntlet where you face wave after wave of enemies. The longer you last the tougher it gets. For up to four players. Certain maps have day and night variations. Completing story mode stages unlocks more maps for Firefight.

And that's disc one.

• The second disc holds the entire Halo 3 multiplayer experience.
• Every map released for Halo 3 is available, including a final 3 never released maps.
• This discs connects you to players with the first Halo 3 game, so multiplayer is seamless.

That's all I know, too. It's their last map pack so I'm guessing they're gonna hit all bases. A competitive map (Midship Remake), an asymmetrical concept map, and maybe a big one.

I like to think I'm about two levels better than that, but you'd need to let me get my groove back. I played some games with Funk Bro and I was horrible (even if I was top score at times, nowhere near my best). Rusty as shit.

i think i like halo 3 swat much more than halo 2. that being said, being that high in it sucks because 50% of the time you get a game with a horrible connection due to CHEATERS.

Maybe I should plug my 360 back in and play halo 3 again.

You should, still a fun game. I wanted to get back into it deep, but Bad Company and GH: Metallica is eating my time. I'm just... barely feeling competitive. When it boils over I guess I'd be back on Halo 3 and Street Fighter 4 big time.

Kinda tied up with MGS4 at the moment. Im really tempted to try MG Online, but the lag on MLB 09 is shit so I get nervous. Also I paid for a full year of Gold and I think Ive been online with my system a total of ..um...4 times?

I can tell you that guy on Iso has little idea how to control that map. Kinda frustrated there.

I love squad based shooters, so I will definitely look into this.

Also, I need to get MGO. I played it quite a bit when MGS4 came out, but I need to get the actual game now.

Okay, so I finally got around to starting Halo last week, and finished it today. So far, I am not too impressed. It was very repetitive. The longest, most boring levels turned out to be the ones you had to go through again, backwards, which I can't believe they had me do (just make it a cut scene or something). I wasn't really motivated to finish it. The Flood are annoying. I'd rather be fighting the Covenant the entire time. And the final level, a timed run using the most horribly controlled vehicle I have ever driven. I really hope the controls are changed on the second one. Probably gonna wait a few weeks to start the second, because I'm not too thrilled right now.

It's not. The vehicles control the same through all 3 games. Except the ghost has a boost in 2 and 3.

Once you get used to it, it's not too bad.

Yeah, you can really run that Warthog after some practice with the physics. I actually dedicated an entire online session to learning that damn vehicle. Now I'm not too bashful to say I'm one of the most awesome guys you want on that thing.

Aside from the (most likely addictive) Firefight Mode in ODST, the game is bringing 3 more (final) maps for the Halo 3's multiplayer component. Bungie released shots of these final maps and they look great.

Heretic is a remake of Midship, a great competitive map from Halo 2. Looks like it's old awesome self.

Citadel is a small symmetrical map with tight spaces. Looks like another competitively crafted map.

Longshore. Is. Fucking. Huge. Good God.

Yea all of ours was gone before the sale even started...

Actually went back and was looking at some old H3 saves I had from back when I actually played it - thinking about it I really didn't give it that much time compared to COD4 and L4D.

Anyway there was one where it was meant to be 5-on-5 Team Slayer, except two of our guys had connection trouble and dropped out right as the round started. So it's 3 on 5, can't remember what the level is called now (Construct, I think?) and we just absolutely tooled these guys. I'm definitely getting more interested in this by the day, basically.

On a tangent was talking with my mate about it (he was also part of the 3) and we were talking about how there really isn't another game out there with the kind of content creation options that Halo has. I mean nothing else comes close, really.

But how neat would it be if there was something linked in to the 360 (PS3, whatever) that tied in to your gamertag and let you record your games as you played them, pick out your highlights, and let you link them to your tag? Like your own highlight reel. I'm sure everyone has had moments where they've been playing whatever and something crazy/funny/cool happens and you wish you could have captured it somehow.

Well actually Bungie.net will let you take your saved videos to your computer and edit them or whatever to make your epic montage.

Yeah but we were thinking in terms of ALL games. Like you just put together a record kill streak on COD, had a great fight in UFC, scored a ridiculous sniper shot in Fallout - you could put together your own personal highlights reel for all your games.

I don't have Halo 3. Think I played my roomate's copy for a few days, but got kinda bored.

Must have been Funk Bro. I get you, Funk Bro, and Funky Fly confused a lot for some reason.

Since I didn't get Halo 3, this will be worth a 60 dollar purchase for me. As for people who did, and also got all the dlc, well it seems like a bit of a ripoff.

I got Halo 3 and I'd spend the full 60$ for this. I appreciate the work put into it.

I hope enough of this get this where we can have a good firefight session. Since there is no matchmaking for it.

Its a good game. Its plays more like Halo 2 than 3, and Firefight is pretty damn fun.

oh well terrific then. i know most of you dont know me (well at least the vg guys), but im always looking for a few decent people to play with, and firefight is calling our names.

I will likely be on this shit all day tomorrow. Will go through co-op campaign with someone if they're up for it. I'm not a hardcore shooter player, and I've had even less experience with halo, so I'll probably start on normal tho.

The only real difference I know of it between the others is that during certain rounds skulls become activated...like the ones you could use in the other games to make it harder.

I dont know if Halos is going to be any better but I know ill get a few kicks out of it for a while. I love Horde mode and Nazi Zombies so this should be good.

Hella fun, that Frefight. Got to Wave 9 on Legendary. Very tough.
