What are some movies you love, but almost everyone else hates?

Just to name a few, some of mine are: Celtic Pride, The Fan, The Blair Witch Project, Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, and The Village.

Anyone else?

OssMan 06-12-2009 04:57 PM

Fever Pitch
50 First Dates

DrA 06-12-2009 04:57 PM

Hmmm interesting thread. Off the top of my head: Celtic Pride, The Fan, The Blair Witch Project, Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, and The Village.

Big Fat Mike 06-12-2009 04:59 PM

I LOVE Celtic Pride

thedamndest 06-12-2009 05:11 PM

I need to go ask almost everyone else what they hate. Will return.

Brujesino 06-12-2009 05:35 PM

people just cant stand that it had no aliens which ya i was disapointed in but it was still a good fucking movie

Boondock Saint 06-12-2009 10:06 PM

Daredevil
Domino

First two that come to mind

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2009 12:16 AM

I remember being disappointed that Domino, about a badass chick was in fact not about Domino... another badass chick.

PorkSoda 06-13-2009 12:31 AM

I had a conversation today with someone who hated Gridiron Gang. I love that movie. I don't know how how everyone else feels about it....

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2009 12:32 AM

With the Rock and the football team? It was okay.

Batman Forever
Spider-Man 3
Alien Resurrection
Blank Check

Pulp Fiction

Common opinion is that it is not an 'amazing' film and that for instance Ghostbustes is the 'better movie' but honestly, I loved it:)

Hornicane 06-13-2009 11:42 AM

I really liked Snakes on a Plane. Also, I don't ever see much love for Zoolander, which is one of my absolute favourites.

Kapoutman 06-13-2009 12:28 PM

A Night At The Roxbury

Corporate CockSnogger 06-13-2009 12:30 PM

Phantom Menace. Jar Jar Binks doesn't even bother me all that much.

LaLa 06-13-2009 01:11 PM

Mermaids

Most people never saw it or don't want to watch it but it is one of my favorite movies.

mitch_h 06-13-2009 01:11 PM

Dry land is not a myth. I've seen it. Kevin Costner. Waterworld. I don't know what the big fuss is about. I saw that movie nine times. It rules!

So yeah, both Waterworld and The Cable Guy.

muffalufagus 06-13-2009 04:14 PM

The Cable Guy. Might be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

Blitz 06-13-2009 05:13 PM

A lot of people I've met online, and offline do. I don't understand why. I thought it was brilliant and scary.

Freddie Got Fingered.

I said it.

Sixx 06-14-2009 09:03 PM

Mutant Chronicles. Seems like only me and two of my buddies loved it.

Seth82 06-14-2009 09:15 PM

Zoolander and The Cable Guy definately are two of my faves

Another good one is One Hour Photo with Robin Williams...Was a flop at the box office but is RW's best thrillers ever

Nowhere Man 06-14-2009 10:20 PM

Superman Returns. Sure, it was no Dark Knight, but I rather enjoyed it.

Just watched One Hour Photo other day, very enjoyable movie. Remember seeing it in theaters. There was my group of friends and a couple in their early 40's probably. We both sat in back row, and the guy comes walking down towards us to get out, despite another aisle being closer to him and he'd only have to go past his wife. When he come to us he was like "excuse me brother" We all made Hulk Hogan jokes when he left. The end.

Zeeboe 06-21-2009 01:01 PM

Papa - You and your friends would be making lots of Hogan jokes about me cause I say "brother" daily. Speaking of the Hulkster, No Holds Barred is another film I love, but almost everyone else seems to dislike. Road House is another. I also loved Karate Kid 2, Blank Check, and 50 First Dates. I never knew that one was disliked. :( I thought it was great. I liked Spider-Man 3 as well, and Batman Forever. Have not seen Alien Resurrection in a long time, but I do recall enjoying it. I should also add I love Alien 3, and never understood the dislikement of it. The Cable Guy is another fav. As is One Hour Photo.

Dude. Hell yes. A3 has some of my favorite scenes from the entire series. I think most people don't like it because they wanted it to be 'Aliens 2,' with more space marines and easily quotable one-liners. On its own rights, it's not bad at all.

Haze 06-22-2009 08:14 PM

Phonebooth

Jeritron 06-22-2009 08:35 PM

I love phonebooth. Do people really hate that? I think they just have ADD if they do, since it's in one location the whole time.

Haze 06-22-2009 08:51 PM

Most of the people talk to said they hated it, but I thought it was excellent movie.

Jeritron 06-22-2009 09:01 PM

Yea I thought it was great.

Hornicane 06-23-2009 09:52 PM

I also enjoyed Phonebooth. :-\

Triple Naitch 06-23-2009 10:59 PM

Ditto.

I love the new Shaft with Samuel L. Jackson. I have the dvd. :-\

Dark-Slicer Diago 06-24-2009 09:14 AM

I remember liking Daredevil, Phonebooth and Batman Forever with nobody else in my family liking those.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-24-2009 05:09 PM

I liked Phone Booth as well. I think most of the people who didn't like it don't like Colin Farrell.

thedamndest 06-24-2009 05:31 PM

Colin Farrell is hit and miss. I liked Phone Booth too except the twist ending.

#1-norm-fan 07-03-2009 03:35 PM

Pan's Labyrinth???

It's ranked as one of the 100 greatest movies of all time on IMDB and very few critics didn't love it. How does that fit the category of "Almost everyone else hating it"?

For me, Celtic Pride, The Cable Guy and The Blair Witch Project have all been mentioned. Love them all.

Also, Fever Pitch. Jimmy Fallon was amazing in it. One of the more under-rated performances in recent memory.

I work at Blockbuster, and I always recommend the movie to people and every time I have somebody bitch at me because they hated it....so I figured that most people hated it.

Yeah. It has to do with the fact that the reviewers were the ones praising the movie, and not so much so for the consumers. Just because critics love something doesn't always mean insta-sales for whatever is being reviewed, or even insta-love by consumers. That's just the unfortunate way of the World sometimes.

Also @ #1-wwf-fan: How can anyone NOT friggin' love The Cable Guy? It's a funny-ass Jim Carrey movie, and the person he's supposed to be helping in the very beginning? Well, as I'm sure everyone has heard by now, that before that person's set konks out, in the very first scene, you can see that the person is watching Press Your Luck. (You can actually hear Peter Tomarken announcing a person hitting $3000 + ONE SPIN at one point...)

"CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABLE GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

God, Jim Carrey is so damn funny. I find it amazing that Carrey and Sandler, maybe even Rob Schneider, a hint of Jon Stewart and/or Steve Colbert, all in a mega-comedy, could be gold just waiting to happen. But doubtful since Stewart and Colbert kinda have the whole mock rating war over on Comedy Central.

Stickman 07-05-2009 01:28 PM

I don't know if other people don't like it, but I very very rarely ever hear anybody mention Kill Bill. I loved those movies.

FearedSanctity 07-05-2009 02:29 PM

Most people don't like Pan's Labyrinth because it's subtitled and people are too fucking lazy to read. Amazing movie.

Celtic Pride and Fever Pitch, eh? Are you by any chance a Bostonian?

McLegend 07-09-2009 10:21 PM

I love those movies. They make Boston fans look like idiots.

It's great.

Zeeboe 01-15-2010 11:50 AM

I just recently watched Road House on blu-ray for the first time. It had been a long time in general since I saw the fiml. It was great. The screen was clear, and I have surround sound, so I felt like I was in the bar at times. I'll never understand the dislike of Road House. It's another reminder of just how awesome the 80's were. :D

Even though the movie is not hated, it did flop at the theater, and that movie was Grindhouse, which I thought was great. I've also always liked Rocky V.

Jeritron 01-17-2010 02:17 AM

Grindhouse is great. I'm glad I was one of the few to see it in the theater, because the full cut is the way to go and it's really a shame that it's not available that way on dvd

I like the Street Fighter movie, it was more than 10x better then the Chun-Li one. Raul Julia was the best in that movie as well. BTW, they set it up for a second one had Raul Julia not die.

I'm fond of Little Nicky. Very underrated.

I guess I can also say Pluto Nash. I enjoyed that movie. Might even say I enjoyed it alot. Might go rent it and watch it again.

3000 Miles to Graceland, Oscar, Halloween, and Halloween II (the Rob Zombie films) are some more I'm gonna add to the list.
