wwe releases the brian kendrick

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar Brian Kendrick as of today, July 30, 2009. WWE wishes Brian the best in all future endeavors.

Inadequacy 07-30-2009 02:55 PM

Oh son of a bitch it's true too.

The Jayman 07-30-2009 02:56 PM

DAMMIT! I guess we'll see him on TNA

TheHaunted 07-30-2009 02:58 PM

:(

Kendrick is amazing!

Triple Naitch 07-30-2009 02:58 PM

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you your next TNA X-Division Champion.

The Jayman 07-30-2009 02:59 PM

He is what is going to bring the TNA X Division back to its glory

NeanderCarl 07-30-2009 02:59 PM

Somebody put Alienoid on suicide watch.

Anybody Thrilla 07-30-2009 03:00 PM

You drew me in and punctured my heart. Another adamle original.

Inadequacy 07-30-2009 03:00 PM

Finally, now he can go to TNA and be used properly.

But seriously, this sucks.

Chavo Classic 07-30-2009 03:00 PM

This makes me angry. Really angry.

The Jayman 07-30-2009 03:00 PM

Kendrick was like total nonstop action.....wait a minute....

Chavo Classic 07-30-2009 03:02 PM

This sucks so bad I'm posting about my UTTER ANGER in both of the related threads

Inadequacy 07-30-2009 03:08 PM

This is so devastating that it requires two threads to be angry in.

Well now I just look silly.

Cool King 07-30-2009 03:16 PM

Gah! I'm so damn pissed off right now.

What a way to go though. Jobbing to Lawler of all people, then your last match, losing in less than 10 seconds. He had been treated like total crap this past year.

Looks like I'll need to change my signature now then.

thedamndest 07-30-2009 03:17 PM

He's a good talent, but I won't miss him in the WWE. It looked like he was going to get a good run with Zeke but we know how that panned out. Better to go to greener pastures.

Gertner 07-30-2009 03:17 PM

He has nobody to blame but himself if the pot rumours are true.

Indeed. He was given the ball and dropped it. He should have been enough of the business man to identify in the current climate, with the drug testing and PG rating high on the WWE's agenda, that his behavior was reckless.

Evil Vito 07-30-2009 03:32 PM

He was gonna get a push, until he got high...
Maybe a title run or two, until he got high...
Now he's been released, and WE KNOW WHY...yeahhhh

Evil Vito 07-30-2009 03:35 PM

at least Kendrick's last moment in a WWE ring was participating in the "caking" of Triple H

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:39 PM

Knew it was gonna happen. Sensed something was going wrong for him behind the scenes, looked good on the mic though. Vince just loves firing people, except HHH. He looooveeesss HHH,literally. Oh and cena ofcourse. That cunt of a chairman.

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:39 PM

Keep hornswoggle, fire kendrick, brilliant business!

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:41 PM

Meanwhile vince's mind is clouded with how he'll make cena beat orton at summerslam.

USAUSA1 07-30-2009 03:43 PM

He should go to AAA(where they trying to branch out more, Jack Evans and Teddy Hart been extremely successful) or if he want quick money just go to TNA.

Chavo Classic 07-30-2009 03:44 PM

I had high hopes for this thread. I was kidding myself when I was hoping to open it and see that maybe Kendrick destroyed Lawler and started a new feud.

We even had the awesome idea last week in another thread of Kendrick kayfabe running for mayor alongside Lawler. It had all the potential of a great angle Kendrick would've looked great and put him over so well. It might have even given Lawler's actually campaign some publicity in the mainstream. What a shame that they were too shortsighted to see that, even if it is still a viable angle now because Kendrick was ideal for that role.

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:46 PM

Remember in the old days when guys like kendrick would be used properly?(most of the time)

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:47 PM

This should be called 'the firing and re-hiring wrestlers era'

You forgot to put 'era' at the end.

mike adamle 07-30-2009 03:53 PM

At least with Kendrick out of the way, the epic feud between Chavo and Hornswoggle will continue.... Fuck.

Londoner 07-30-2009 03:55 PM

Chavo next to be released, calling it now.

TBF I imagine Hornswoggle's merch sales outstrip Kendrick's. Better wrestling is pretty low on Vince's list of priorities (see: rehiring Chris Masters).

Hopefully he can go to TNA and maybe help reignite the X Division which has been looking quite lackluster as of late.

Exactly. Let's not forget Vince runs a business, with no room for sentiment. Just like he'll rehire a guy who apparently burnt the bridge just to make a quick buck, he'll fire a guy who can't draw.

Think of it this way. There's a guy on your payroll who doesn't bring in as much money as the others, has been given a golden chance to prove himself, and is known to like the whacky tobacky. I know what I would've done.

It's just a shame for both parties because there was always potential there.

Yes but then it got a little edgy i.e. the "Attitude Era". it raised alot of negative publicity from mostly parents. They had to tone it down to reach a broader audience especially kids.

What, all the kids liked it? There are always more kids to get on board.

I don't see their motivation either. The fucked themselves in the ass years ago with the Attitude era - I know very few parents who are willing to let their kids watch wrestling due to its reputation. They're just too late, and haven't done enough to make parents aware that they're now kid-friendly.

It's Catch 22 because they can't actively and overtly show that their key demographic is now kids because that's going to drive away adult fanbase, but without making it clear that they're going in a new direction they're not going to win over skeptical parents.

If I can see this, why can't the overpaid yes-men at Titan towers?

I've said it before about Kendrick. He's a great talent, but when you put smoking pot before your career you're a fucking idiot and deserve to get fired. And this is coming from a longtime marijuana user.

Londoner 07-30-2009 04:59 PM

Didn't know about his drug usage...in that case, you can kinda justify it, but then jeff hardy is world champ...

Afterlife 07-30-2009 05:01 PM

Jeff hardy was also concerned about his job, was already over with the fans 100%, and had a real solid history with the company.

Kendrick went from "You aren't utilizing my skills" to "I'm getting stoned, here's your fine".

Londoner 07-30-2009 05:03 PM

I'm pretty sure the no complete clause is for televised wrestling. Cabana briefly mentioned it in his shoot. He got called on Thursday and told he was released. Right after he called PWG and told them he was free to wrestle for them. He was in a 3 way dance with Chris Hero and Human Tornado for the PWG title.

I'm surprised they never really made a gimmick out of his whole willing to pay for weed or at least have it be the basis for something like how CM Punk used Jeff Hardy's drug problems be the basis for their current feud.

That's ridiculous. Have you realised that current direction the WWE is going in, and that something as explicit as having a guy who basically pays his employer so he can smoke weed would be in direct opposition to that?

Funny, the current World Heavyweight Champion is in a storyline directly related to drug use. And the heel is the one opposing it.

You're an idiot.

There has been no explicit mention of specific drugs, and the focus has been on that Hardy was a drug user and no longer is. He's portrayed as the guy who made mistakes and took drugs and has overcome his demons. It's nothing at all like a guy who currently uses drugs and pays for the pleasure, to which his employers agree.

The issue of drug use has been dealt with very differently. This 'drug user' character Kendrick would be endorsing drug use and abuse, showing that both the wrestler and the organisation accept it's prevalence. In the Hardy angle, it's been made clear Hardy was suspended for drug use and has suffered the consequence - thus showing drug use negatively.

Manly Jim 07-30-2009 07:25 PM

Still doesn't make much sense to have someone against drugs, especially in their current direction, be the heel. And Punk has made mention of specific drugs.

Manly Jim 07-30-2009 07:27 PM

For the record, I'm not complaining about the gimmick, I love it, just using your logic.

If he has, I've missed it. He's always referred anything worse than pot as 'street drugs' whenever I've watched.

And Punk isn't a heel because he's anti-drugs. He's a heel because he's so fucking cocky and pretentious about it! Don't you know anything about wrestling, or indeed real life?

Manly Jim 07-30-2009 07:30 PM

No shit, doesn't mean that the drug references aren't heavily influencing the reaction.

I just find it counter-intuitive to be so anti-drug and so kid-friendly and then go and do a gimmick like this. WWE sends mixed signals and it's fucking stupid.

Chavo Classic 07-30-2009 07:36 PM

I agree here.

The WWE has been very inconsistent of late. There was a discussion concerning chairshots not long ago focusing on the reason they are still included in match-ups, yet clips of the crowd shown during daytime broadcasts. Neither side, the adults who might want their kids to see a toned-down wrestling show or the hardcore fans who prefer violence, will be satisfied. They either have to remove chairshots, or not. Having them there and covering them up appeases no-one.

It's the same here with the CM Punk character. They're teasing a gritty and realistic angle when all the time aiming it at kids.

Outsider 07-30-2009 07:36 PM

Why should he get special dispensation? I agree that wrestlers go through a hell of a lot and I respect, if not occasionally pity, them for the pain and agony they endure but if the boss makes it clear to you not to smoke weed, then you should not smoke weed.

He'll have plenty of time to roll up now. I guess he got what he wanted.

But yeah, it kinda sucks about Kendrick, but when you go around and get caught abusing drugs, what the hell do you expect? Sometimes after so many chances, the promoter just has to say enough is enough, don't let the door hit ya on the ass. Hopefully it will be a learning experience for Kendrick (not holding my breath on it though), and he will be able to build a successful career for himself wherever he ends up in the future.

Wrestling re-invents itself every 7-8 years. We had a "kiddie era" during the Mid 80's till mid 90's, then the Attitude Era, now back to kid friendly. I said this in a past thread. The WWE is targeting kids for a reason. Soon they will grow up and become cynical teenagers, they'll turn Cena heel, and the WWE to go back to pg-13 again.

DaVe 07-31-2009 01:24 AM

Indeed, Gertner.

And eh, I saw this coming. A while back we had a thread on how Kendrick was gonna become world champ and I guaranteed he wouldn't be. Looks like I'm on the right track, though there's always his next run.
