What video game would you like to see made into a movie?
I was checking out Diesel Mac's thread about mortal kombat being the greatest video game movie and I agree. I just wanted to see everyone's opinion on which games would make good movies (sequels included). This may have been done but i'm new.I'll go first
I would actually like to see a second Silent Hill |
Another MK was in the works with all the originals coming back but I think it got scrapped. :(
|
For those of you thinking about a GTA movie, I read that the rumor was shot down.
|
A Mass Effect movie would be cool.
|
This is such an easy one for me they have to make a Wolfenstein movie sooner or later but they have to do it properly not half assed like most video game movies are done.

I was going to say the Neverhood, but apparently there are already plans for a movie. :D

It would require a mini series on Showtime or HBO. |
Ilm also writing a Left 4 Dead movie along with my Team Fortress movie.
There will be 3 sequels to the L4D movie. I'm a busy man :-( |
Legend of Zelda

Honestly, none. What's the point?

Remember the Super Mario Brothers movie?
|
No. Are you talking about the TV show instead?
Duke Nukem? I'd have low expectations, but it could be a little bit decent.. Burger Time. ToeJam and Earl. Road Rash (Hell yeah!) MARBLE MADNESS!!!!! |
No, he's talking about the really bad Bob Hoskins film
|
|
Why would you want a movie of a modern day game. They practicly ARE movies.
Legend of Zelda and Metroid are at the top of my list. Castlevania would be cool, as well as a proper street fighter movie. |

Streets of Rage

That is another excellent suggestion.
Also, Pixar should make a Mario Bros. movie. That would be awesome. |
Maniac Mansion would be cool as a movie. I'm aware they made a tv show that was nothing like the game.
A CG Mario movie or even Luigis Mansion? I see potential for a childrens movie in either. I agree with MGS. They could make it a trilogy if cutting the story down wasn't going to work. Metroid could work to. I remember there was news that someone bought the rights to make one or someone had written a script and they knew who they wanted as Samus or something. That was about 2 or 3 years ago now. Asteroids is getting a movie and if they can make a movie about Asteroids, any game can have one... Quote:

Metroid Final Fight |
What about Contra or Golden Axe?
And ToeJam and Earl, I mentioned above about that, I'd kill myself laughing if I went to deliver mail in a blue mailbox then it just grew arms and legs and started chasing me going "BLALALALAL!" I might do that for Halloween this year - or even today. Dress up as a mailbox then someone comes.... |
Starcraft.

It was one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen in my life. And not depressing in a good way, like how a great film might make you feel down or bleak about certain things or the characters. It just depressed the shit out of us how bad it was, and how bland and boring it was. It was brutally violent and bizarre, but in a tasteless manner. It wasn't even interesting or scary like horror should be. It was just tasteless. The entire thing was like a rainy day in an eastern european slum. Did I mention how boring, tasteless, and drab this movie is? I legitimately class it as one of the worst 5-10 movies I've ever seen. |
I'd like to see a Zelda or Halo movie done right. They probably have the best chances of adapting in a quality manner, and have a good amount of people who will give a fuck.
But they won't be done right. It would take a lot of money and a skilled filmmaker to correctly do either, and the studios won't invest either into it. So I say they're better left alone |
Battletoads!
Supposedly they're working on getting Earthworm Jim back into the mainstream - either on TV or in theatres. |

I was shopping the other day and saw the Transformers 2 video game sitting on the shelf, and realized that it was a videogame, based on a movie, that's a sequel, of a movie based on a cartoon, that was based on action figures.
It would only be funnier if it was lego transformers. |

I will agree that on a horror movie scale it did come up short. but it had alot of the elements the game has so it held true on what the game is about. The reason I would like to see a sequel is hoping they base it off the silent hill 2 game which in my opinion is the best of the series. |

I take it you people've heard about the Tetris movie plans?
|
lol It can't be.
|
Unfortunately Uwe Bohl declined the offer.
|
Fuck, games can only be anime or saturday morning cartoons at best. They just never translate well because moviegoers who are not gamers and gamers just have way different expectations.

Pong
"The story of a ball, caught between the paddle he loves, and the paddle who is carrying his baby." |

Tetris.
What a movie that would be! |

If they could make a Final Fantasy 7 movie that actually managed to maintain all the original plot would be fantastic.
But they couldn't fit it all in one, and if they did, it would suck. |

Tekken will be with us soon.
I read Batista is King and Nathan Jones is also in it. |

I think a Manhunt movie could be made. As long as it was a hard, hard R. Also think Soul Calibur could be done. I'd prefer to see it done as more of a "historical epic" than a "video game movie". The story could be made straightforward enough for a 2 hour flick. |

Jackie Chan- Lei Wulong Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa - Heihachi Chiaki Kuriyama(Gogo from Kill Bill)- Ling Xiaoyu Nathan Jones- Craig Murdock Lateef Crowder(Capoiera fighter in The Protector)- Eddie Gordo Batista- King Only weird one is Ron Pearlman as Paul Phoenix.wtf Also, I don't like how many characters are in the movie. Shoehorning too many people in the movie can end in mortal kombat annihilation like failure. I mean, fucking Drugunov is in it, ffs. |

Tekken Cast:
* John Foo as Jin Kazama: A young and talented fighter who has a dark power within him. The Devil Gene he has inherited from his father, Kazuya Mishima, is slowly tearing him apart and consuming his mind with evil and hate. He now realizes that the only way he can save himself is to confront both his father and grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, both of whom have their own agendas for Jin's power. All of this comes to a head at The King of Iron Fist Tournament, Jin's one chance at confronting his father and grandfather to defeat them and redeem his soul. In real life, John Foo is a Wushu master apart from acting. * Ian Anthony Dale as Kazuya Mishima: A powerful karate fighter, Kazuya is the son of Heihachi Mishima and the father of Jin Kazama. He possesses the power of the Devil Gene, which his son inherited. * Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi Mishima: The chairman of the Tekken Corporation, that is being investigated of murder. He is the father of Kazuya, and the grandfather of Jin Kazama. An experienced fighter himself, he announces The King of Iron Fist Tournament to crown the best fighter on Earth. However, Heihachi has his own plans for the tournament. Tagawa is known for playing another fighting game character, Shang Tsung, in the first Mortal Kombat film. * Kelly Overton as Christie Monteiro: A Brazilian Capoeira practitioner and student of Eddy Gordo. * Luke Goss as Steve Fox: A talented boxer from England that was once one of the best fighters of the world, but had passed his prime. Goss was the first confirmed actor in the film, and explained that his character has "some fights out of the ring".[3] * Cung Le as Marshall Law: A Jeet Kune Do fighter. Le is a mixed martial artist, and his presence in the movie was confirmed in the end of 2008 by Kung Fu Cinema.[4] * Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury: A former Interpol officer that competes in the tournament. Daniels is a former kickboxer himself, which is the same fighting style used by his character in the videogames. * Candice Hillebrand as Nina Williams: A cold-blooded assassin and mother of Steve Fox. * Marian Zapico as Anna Williams: The sister and rival of Nina Williams. * Darrin Henson as Raven: An international intelligence agent considered highly skilled and iron-hearted, codename Raven. * Roger Huerta as Miguel Caballero Rojo: A brawler from Spain. Huerta is also a mixed martial artist. * Nathan Jones as Craig Marduk: A professional Vale Tudo fighter. The character of Marduk was indeed modeled after Jones for the videogames. * Lateef Crowder as Eddy Gordo: A Brazilian Capoeira practitioner and mentor of Christie Monteiro. Crowder was offered the role due to his real-life Capoeira skills and resemblance to Eddy. * Jae Hee as Hwoarang: A Korean Tae Kwon Do fighter and main rival of Jin Kazama. * Tamlyn Tomita as Jun Kazama: Jin Kazama's mother. After her assassination, Jin enters the tournament to avenge her. * Gary Ray Stearns as Yoshimitsu: A mystic, Ninja-esque armored swordsman. * Anton Kasabov as Sergei Dragunov: A member of SPETSNAZ, Dragunov is considered the very symbol of fear on the battlefield whose overwhelming fighting prowess has earned him the title "The White Angel of Death". |
