Indifferent Clox 08-08-2009 10:46 PM

Indifferent Clox 08-08-2009 10:49 PM

The Mask 08-08-2009 11:33 PM

Innovator 08-08-2009 11:40 PM

Crowd just woke up for Forrest....and for a fight in the stands

Inadequacy 08-08-2009 11:53 PM

Shit yes

Innovator 08-08-2009 11:54 PM

Ok new rule, no one speaks ill of Anderson Silva...ever again

Innovator 08-08-2009 11:54 PM

KO backing up swiping at him like a cat...wow

HeartBreakMan2k 08-08-2009 11:54 PM

CSL 08-08-2009 11:55 PM

Ok wtf was that

Innovator 08-08-2009 11:55 PM

I guess that was a pissed off Anderon Silva

Fabien Barthez 08-08-2009 11:55 PM

I didn't.

Called it.

Holy shit.

Inadequacy 08-08-2009 11:57 PM

That was totally amazing

Terra Ryzin 08-08-2009 11:59 PM

The last two fights were very justified in the shit talk that followed them. This fight proved just how bad the last performances were and if anything, it made them look even worse.

Anderson Silva was literally untouchable tonight. Best performance I've seen not just of his career but in the UFC in a very long time. Un-fucking-believable.

Innovator 08-09-2009 12:03 AM

Pretty bad way to get KOed

Inadequacy 08-09-2009 12:03 AM

Pretty sure Silva just solidified himself as my favourite fighter.

isnt it free over there?

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 12:05 AM

The most damage done to Silva in 3 fights was done by himself trying to rile up Forrest.

He didn't even hold his hands up, and never got hit.

Totally unreal.

Rob 08-09-2009 12:06 AM

Silva was even more impressive in the way he told Griffin during the fight he wanted to slug it out and it was Griffin who backed off. I'm sure Silva wasn't even hit with a punch. This was the Anderson Silva we loved and will continue to love unless he goes back to the man who fought Leites and Cote.

No. You have to have the most expensive cable package and then pay another £9 a month just to get ESPN. It's not on PPV but I'd rather have paid £10 to watch it on PPV.

CSL 08-09-2009 12:08 AM

lol Florian's hat got jacked

yeah thats bullshit that it has commercials..i might be moving to england next year, just wanted to know what the new ufc deal was over there

Terra Ryzin 08-09-2009 12:12 AM

as much as i want to go back to liking silva..i dont know if i can..his last few fights left a bad taste in my mouth. he just seemed cocky, uninteresting in fight and just wanted to embarress his opponents knowing he was miles out of their league.

Rob 08-09-2009 12:12 AM

Apparently Ed Soares got attacked and nearly jumped into the crowd for a fight on the way backstage.

He turned me back in an instant. Hopefully he does the exact same thing to Dan Henderson.

CSL 08-09-2009 12:13 AM

BJ amped. Maybe he kills him here

.

from a spectator POV, then I agree, not from his POV. He didn't have the striking oppertunities against Leites as he did in the first 30 seconds tonight. I said in defence of him the last 2 times that you have to beat Anderson, waiting for your chances is as destructive as risking the KO. Hendo attacked, and many felt he was unlucky. He had a better chance of winning than Cote and Leites.

Either way, the point is he is the fucking best. How he still shocks me is rediculous.

Come on BJ.

He was hit with ONE punch. When his hands were down, which was pretty much the whole fight, Forrest hit him flush with a left jab that did absolutely nothing. In fact, I think Anderson smiled at him.

Anderson won me back over for sure. That being said, I still want Hendo to win. I love Hendo.

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 12:17 AM

Florian is 3 years older.

Says alot.

Innovator 08-09-2009 12:18 AM

Idiot fans waving at the camera

Jaded-Dragon 08-09-2009 12:20 AM

Some blogs pointing out that after Forrest was 'Knocked Out' he immediately got up and ran to the back, which is pretty impossible after getting KO'd. They are suggesting that he realized he was horribly out classed, getting embarassed, and gave up.

Jaded-Dragon 08-09-2009 12:24 AM

Anybody know how many fights Silva has left on his contract?

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 12:42 AM

Wicked finish. Hell of a fight by Penn

Loose Cannon 08-09-2009 12:42 AM

wow, I left the bar after the Forrest fight, so you guys need to fill me in on the Penn fight. But wtf did I judt see? I couldn't believe how ridiculous that fight was. Silva made Forrest look pathetic. I seriously felt like I was watching Morphius from the Matrix with Silva. jesus christ. it took the life out of the bar as most wanted to see Forrest win or at least be fucking Forrest Griffin. Silva pissed me off so much when he extended his hands to help Forrest up. Props to Silva though. he was the man tonight

and I've never seen anybody run out after a fight before. was he seriously hurt?

I didn't see the Penn fight, but the show was ok. The kid from Oklahoma looks pretty awesome. I was hoping Grove would win, but oh well.

Forrest :(

HeartBreakMan2k 08-09-2009 12:45 AM

I think he was just embarrassed he got knocked out by the weakest looking KO punch ever. Obviously it wasn't, but perception is reality.

Loose Cannon 08-09-2009 12:49 AM

lol yea. my wife looked at me right after and said "that wasn't even hard at all," but it was definately a sick blow

HeartBreakMan2k 08-09-2009 12:50 AM

One thing I do want to point out that I'm THRILLED about, is the evolution of the MMA fan. This is the first time I can think of, where top to bottom, the fans cheered the ground game and the subtle movements. Loved that.

muffalufagus 08-09-2009 01:02 AM

Silva STILL impresses me. It's insane. My friend is trying to say that Forrest took a fall. I don't think so. I think Silva is just the way better fighter. What's next for Silva? I don't think there is anyone that can beat him.

HeartBreakMan2k 08-09-2009 01:03 AM

Hendo is next, and if he's smart enough to stay on the ground this time then he has potential.

CSL 08-09-2009 01:09 AM

Silva will kill Henderson. 'Awww but he won the first round'. Fuck off.

well if that fight didn't prove he's the way better fighter, then I don't knoe what will. Silva was toying with Forrest the whole time. I'm surprised Silva didn't take a sip of water when Forrest was throwing punches at him

last two fights saved the card. the one they showed after was good too, brutal kimura by whoever it was.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-09-2009 02:28 AM

Wish the dude from Boston won, bar would have exploded. Ton of kids I went with where arguing that it didn't make sense for Forrest to get knocked out by that punch when Rampage's punches didn't knock him down. I realize Rampage is bigger than Silva but can't Silva's punches be just as hard or harder than Rampages? I didn't catch the Rampage/Forrest fight though so I dunno.

CSL 08-09-2009 03:08 AM

I just think that punch was absoloutely bang on the button and he was basically knocked silly for a few seconds. Rampage is the bigger hitter but for that to matter, you have to land

Silva is mad powerful, plus a lot of it has to do placement. And every time you get KOd your resistance to KOs decreases.

Impact! 08-09-2009 03:30 AM

Forrest supposably broke or dislocated his jaw in the first exchange, and by the end couldn't hear out of one ear (which is also why he legged it to the back after the fight...for medical attention)

he wasnt "out" but he got knocked down 3 times so what do u expect

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 06:13 AM

forrest's character has been visual since TUF. Winning, losing or getting embarrassed, there is no way he is staying down if he has the ability to get back up.

it's as much to do with momentum as power. griffin was chasing silva who tagged him just right, griffins motion mixed with silva turning his head like that is what did it. wasn't a powerful punch by any means, just a clever one.

Impact! 08-09-2009 11:04 AM

ROFL

Also apparently Silva isn't really interested in rematching Hendo...so gotta wonder whether the fight will actually happen now or what...

McLegend 08-09-2009 11:34 AM

Forrest had a terrible game plan.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-09-2009 11:50 AM

Well you gotta think Forrest needed to get inside Anderson to take him down and it's not like he has olympic level wrestling. To get inside he'd obviously need to do a bit of striking and at least feel Anderson out. Didn't work out too well for him though.

Mr. JL 08-09-2009 11:56 AM

I think Hendo would be much more prepared for Silva this time around. I hope to see a re-match.

Nark Order 08-09-2009 11:59 AM

Silva made Forrest look like some bum off the street. Not sure who's going to stop this man.

YOUR Hero 08-09-2009 12:14 PM

Forrest's head snaps back pretty good on that punch. Like Mask said he was moving straight in and got tagged.

Loose Cannon 08-09-2009 01:10 PM

still pretty bummed Forrest went down like that last night. definately not the Forrest Griffin I've been used to seeing and he's one of my top 3 fav fighters. Silva tore a new asshole in him pretty much.

yea, his game plan was terrible legend

Jura 08-09-2009 07:11 PM

Fuck you Forrest Griffin. You take the title from my man Rampage and then you lose effortlessly to Silva.

Silva is amazing and all but this is the 2nd or 3rd fight that I can't help but feel like something funny is going on.

Also I was avoiding this section because I didn't want to watch it online and was going to download it the next day but this morning I open up my browser and guess what the fuck I see on the Yahoo homepage? Silva and Penn victorious. WTF? So this is what I did:

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 07:47 PM

And the result of Man U vs Chelsea was on the front page of every .co.uk site that has top stories on their main page the second it was over.

You are angry because Yahoo, who are known for their relationship with UFC, posted the results before you could unjustly steal it?

Shame on them?

Yep because the last time they didn't put who won or lost in the headline for UFC 100 which was bigger than 101 but they decided to this time. And a UFC ppv is not exactly Man U vs Chelsea.

Loose Cannon 08-09-2009 08:10 PM

they actually did have a headline up last time for Brock winning. I remember seeing it a couple hours after the PPV. And yes, since UFC has basically entered the land of mainstream sports (hell even ESPN/ESPN news TV posts the results on thier ticker now and covers in on the shows), it's basically like any other popular sporting event out there. It's not WWE wrestling.

My home page is Netscape and they had the results as well in the sports news section along with the Yankees/Red Sox game

Fabien Barthez 08-09-2009 08:18 PM

You are right.

Football and Basketball both get highlights replayed on TV within 24 hours of it finishing live.

UFC don't do that. So if anything, it is more just that they do this.

Will the mayweather fight have a headline of '****** wins by KO' or 'Click here to see who won'?

PLUSSSSSSSSSS, UFC were killing streams at a new rate last night, and killing the fights as they were uploaded pretty quick too. They know people wanna steal their shit and they don't like it.

Jura 08-09-2009 08:34 PM

I didn't say they didn't put up a headline I said they didn't say who won or not. They did put a headline up but the headline I remember focused more on Brock's behavior after the match and when I read that I assumed he threw a fit after he lost but that wasn't the case. And basketball and football are shown on cable television and available to many more people whereas UFC events are ppv.

Loose Cannon 08-10-2009 11:45 AM

I didn't realize it was Griffin that called for stoppage. I thought it was the ref. Apparently, he wasn't hurt either. he was just totally embarrased

Jura 08-10-2009 12:07 PM

I'm hearing rumors his jaw was broken or dislocated and he couldn't hear at all but I don't know.

Loose Cannon 08-10-2009 12:08 PM

nah, that was confirmed not to be true after all

Fabien Barthez 08-10-2009 12:12 PM

I don't know about him not being hurt. The last punch sent his legs on holiday. He wasn't like, Bisping out, but he was on queer street.

It certainly wasn't worth getting more injured, thus having a bigger gap before his next fight, that will actually be relevant to the division he fights in. I'm not sure he just sat there, and gave up on the mat, purely because he didn't think he could win, 3 minutes in.

Until Forrest is vocal, its all hearsay.

Loose Cannon 08-10-2009 12:37 PM

here is where I read the news about him not being hurt.

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...=9333&zoneid=4

But I think you're right in him wanting to stop it for not risking getting seriously hurt and being out for a while

Mr. JL 08-10-2009 12:42 PM

If anyone reads anything about Forrest commenting on his fight and why he ran away afterwards could you post it on here, that would be awesome.

Funny how in the post-fight interviews Dana said he hasn't seen Forrest since he ran away.

Vastardikai 08-10-2009 04:17 PM

I asked Forrest about it. This what he said.
