Fable III confirmed

Theres too much to quote so here is a link.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fable-iii-preview

Ontop of Fable III, we're getting Fable II as an episodic download. As of September 29th we will get episodes 1-5 with Ep 1 being free.

We play as the son/daughter of Fable II's Hero. You begin the game trying to over throw the tyrant King of Albion by leading a revolution. You do this by gathering support, gaining followers and uniting factions. As you attempt to overthrow the King, you make promises and you can choose if you should keep your promises or break them.
Two new game mechanics revealed were "Judgement" and "Touch".
Judgement is, oviously, you making judgements. An example given (thats not in the game) is a woman is caught stealing bread. She is brought to you where you can listen to her pleas, investigate it yourself to see if she is lying by visiting her family to see if she is as poor as she claims to be etc. You can choose to throw her in the dungeon or throw her some gold.

Touch is the ability to touch those around you. You can walk up to someone and shake their hand or refuse. This can be built up to hugging, embracing, kissing. You can also use it to hold hands, pull people to take them places etc.

Peter Molyneux says "Imagine hearing the cries from a young child in the house, and you as a ruler storm in to save the child. In Fable I and Fable II, you'd get a button prompt - press A to save the child. With dynamic touch, you can pull the child out of the flames and the burning house."

PM is also giving a talk at GDC in a few hours so more info may be revealed. Fable III is due out in 2010.

Awesome.

Kane Knight 08-19-2009 08:03 AM

Oh God, more gimmick developments.

Drakul 08-19-2009 10:47 AM

Lionhead intend to add more depth to the story and include things such as drama. To do this they had actors act out parts of the story so they could see how things played out.

<embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=14328887&downloadURL=http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/101/1015497/fable3bts_trl_gcom09_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all%"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360'></embed><div style='width:433;'><a href='http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/143/14328887.html'>Fable III at IGN.com</a></div>

There are a few things to note in the video. One being the list of bullet point shown at the beggining. Pause at 0:48 for a brief screen shot of a courtyard. We see one scene is titled "Sabine Intro" at 1:36. I'm not sure of Sabine is a character or some technical term for camera work but I thought I'd point it out.
As the video fades out, another list pops up. It reads:
  • Choice/consequences this time affecting everyone and everything in the Kingdom
  • Judgements
- Feel the power
- At anytime pass judgement
- Decide on the fate of the outcome
  • Touch
- Expression touch
- Dynamic touch

Kalyx triaD 08-19-2009 10:49 AM

I'm surprised at how quickly they're getting down on this.

Drakul 08-19-2009 10:52 AM

They've said they started working on ideas and concepts for Fable III half way through Fable II.
I'm thinking by 2010, they mean Christmas 2010. So thats still over a year to get things done.

Kalyx triaD 08-19-2009 10:53 AM

I always felt working on sequels during development of the present game was folly, but to each developer their own.

BigDaddyCool 08-19-2009 11:04 AM

I want it now.

Different dev teams, perhaps?

Lionhead have learned when to stop people coming up with new ideas for the current game and move them on to the next game so they can actually hit schedules. Valve have learned that lesson too (See: Left 4 Dead)

It can actually lead to a lot of good, like internal consistency, and ideas of what to aim for based on current limitations.

What bothers me is that they Nerfed Fable 2 and added a few gimmicky ideas like your dog. Naturally, I'm skeptical.

BigDaddyCool 08-19-2009 12:02 PM

BDC wants to know more about the Nerfing of Fable too, I'm assuming it is a play on the foam missles and not the poster.

Mr Regal 08-19-2009 12:02 PM

I love my dog.

BigDaddyCool 08-19-2009 12:16 PM

Yeah...until he died, that made me sad.

The dog may have been a gimmick, but it as a pretty well executed one.

Another bit of info: Fable III will use your Fable II save to make the game reflect what you did in Fable II and the consequences.

I named my dog Scruffy after my ex-wifes dog, who was my wife and dog and the time.

When I replayed to get to see a different ending, I named him Lord Barkington.

So I wonder if the plot is something along the lines of, you take whatever (male or female, apparently from the teaser) character you build, as usual, from early childhood, through a story that eventually makes you the King or Queen of Albion, who through previous and future actions is seen as someone the people love, like an FDR, or someone people hate and who opresses at the slightest hint of revolt, kind of like GWB 43...

BigDaddyCool 08-20-2009 03:02 PM

Don't worry about the mention of Natal. Apparantly everyone thinks "touch" will use Natal because PM made certain motions with his hands as he talked about it on stage. A Member of the developement team said on the Lionhead forum that they wont use Natal for Fable III.

BigDaddyCool 08-21-2009 04:55 PM

What is Natal?

BigDaddyCool 08-21-2009 04:57 PM

So it is going to be more open ended? I like open ended games.

Anyhow the interview makes me so interested.

You start the game as an adult trying to overthrow the tyrant king. You're the son/daughter of your Fable II character. It's set 50 years after Fable II and your save game from Fable II will dicatate certain things about Fable III (I'm assuming it would be what areas you destroyed and developed, what major choices you made etc.). Half way through the game, you become King/Queen and then you play the rest of the game as the ruler with new powers and responsabilities.

Good thing I didn't trade in Fable 2. You get 6 game saves and I've made use of 2. 4 more to get in as many permutations as I can.

Verbose Minch 09-05-2009 12:27 PM

Get ready for more unfulfilled promises!

G 01-03-2010 09:20 PM

omggg can't wait. started playing fable 2 a few days ago and haven't put it down. just bought the 2 dlcs. i  it so much. it's so awesome seeing other orbs and hearing them talk. haven't even thought about playing mw2 or anything else.

Kalyx triaD 01-03-2010 09:57 PM

Kinda missing Fable 2 now. Great game.

Drakul 01-04-2010 01:34 AM

Yeah, Fable II was great, I thought. Everyone else I come across seems to just pick out it's faults, though.
I've nearly done everything in F2 but I can't get the last achievement, "Collect all the Hero Dolls" because you have to go around asking other players to swap and trade with you for them.
If anyone here has all the dolls and wants to let me borrow/buy them, I'd appreciate it and I could pay in whatever you need, I have multiples of everything I can get multiples off.
Funky Fly only has to get that one achievement for 100% aswell, I think.

Fable III should be even better but nothing new has come out besides the developers going on the LH forums and saying small things about graphics being better, more regions, bigger variations in the regions and that the story will be dramatic and moving. Standard stuff you'd expect from devs on their own forum.

I really hate it when developers announce a game and then just don't share anything else about it. They did say we'd be getting stuff very soon, though. Hopefully that means just a month or so before a new trailer.

Funky Fly 01-04-2010 08:14 PM

Yeah, been farting around on 360achievements.org trying to find someone to help a brother out, but no luck thus far.

G 01-05-2010 09:57 PM

What Hero dolls do you need. I just dug up a Theresa Doll. Need to find that free Hero one that apparently you buy in a store.

G 01-05-2010 11:22 PM

wooooo got all the dolls. hit me up and i'll gift them

Drakul 01-06-2010 01:29 AM

I sent you a friend request. When you say gift, do you mean I can borrow them, get the achievement and give them back to you or do you want to give me the ones I need and I'll give you something in return? If you want to trade, I have plenty of items for you to choose from.

I only need Garth, Lucien and Reaver. I have multiple Theresas if anyone needs one her dolls.

G 01-06-2010 08:19 AM

you can "borrow" them. just gift them right back after you get it. i don't need anything but money, because i have everything :D

X10: Fable 3 impressions (spoiler: we're not pissed off)

by Randy Nelson http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.en...writer_rss.gif { Feb 11th 2010 at 8:47PM } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...reaking001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...eatured001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png
<!-- sphereit start --> Receiving a live demo of Fable 3 from Lionhead, er ... head and Microsoft Games Studio boss Peter Molyneux during today's X10 event, we learned that it, in his words, "is all about power and uniqueness." Well, that and Charles Dickens. (More on that in a sec.) Yes, the game is up, running and actually looking pretty far along at this point. But Molyneux was much more keen to talk about some of its new gameplay mechanics than anything involving graphics, sound or other trimmings.

First up, he revisited the premise of the game. It's set in Albion, which -- as we noticed right away -- has become heavily industrialized. You play as the son or daughter of the hero from Fable 2, with Molyneux confirming that you can import your saved game from that title, but that it "will make minor, not major, changes to the story." The game's structure will have you starting out as a "nobody," getting people to believe in you and eventually starting a revolution. About half-way through, you'll be the king or queen of Albion.

The Albion in the demo could certainly stand a change in ownership. It's smoggy, grimy and the streets are full of the homeless, poor and starving. The factories are full of everyone else, including children as young as five-years-old. Molyneux says that all of this is inspired by the works of Charles Dickens; in particular, Oliver Twist. As bad as it is, he promises you'll eventually have the power to change it all, should you choose.

Molyneux points out that it's important to be mindful of what you promise during your rise to power, since the second half of the game and much of its drama will involve deciding whether or not to honor your word. Playing through the first 50% of Fable 3, you'll be approached by characters who'll ask you things like, "Will you promise to replace these workhouses with schools when you're king?," and you'll actually have to put the promise in writing. One you're in power, these same people will come before you, present these papers, and you'll get to pass judgment on them. Will you keep your promise, or lose their loyalty?

<table align="right" bgcolor="#ffffff" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="10" height="111" width="176"> <tbody> <tr> <td> "Will you keep your promise, or lose their loyalty?"

</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Passing judgment will be done using what Molyneux calls "the most emotionally driven feature in a game," a touch mechanic inspired by ICO. In the first example given, the character's wife was in hysterics -- their child had gone missing. The demo driver was able to use his dog (yes, man's best friend is back) to track her scent. As it turned out, she'd just wandered off to play with friends. The touch mechanic (performed with the right trigger) was first used to admonish the child. (The actions performed by press right trigger are context sensitive to the other character's emotional state.) She began to cry, so the touch mechanic was used to pick her up, hug her and start tossing her in the air until she was happy again. The character then stood next to her as the demoer held right trigger to hold her hand and walk her home.

Along the way, he tried to go into a pub, child in tow. The girl said, "Dad, that's the pub! You promised mom you'd never go there again." So, yes, the AI is always "aware" of the current situation. Case in point: The second demonstration of the touch mechanic. The character walked up to a beggar and took him by the hand. The beggar, thinking he was being taken home for dinner, began to exclaim his tanks. Only the demoer was going to be naughty -- he led the beggar to a workhouse, where he intended to sell him. As they got closer to the factory, the beggar become more and more afraid, eventually pulling against the character's arm in an attempt to escape. It was pretty horrifying.

<object classid="clsid<img src=" images="" smilies="" biggrin.gif="" alt="" title="Big Grin" smilieid="3" class="inlineimg" border="0">27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="viddler_c5f9f0a6" height="346" width="580">

<embed src="http://www.viddler.com/simple/c5f9f0a6/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" name="viddler_c5f9f0a6" height="346" width="580"></object>

Molyneux explained that the touch mechanic will also work when interacting with objects and in combat, though he wouldn't elaborate on either of the latter. He simply stated that this "is not a gimmick, but a really big feature." Emotes are still in the game, though they've taken a back seat to touch.

Next up we saw some combat inside of a vast cave, prompting Molyneux to explain that the "dungeons" in Fable 3 are much more "open" than in the previous game. He then went on to explain how your character's physique will change based on the weapons you decided to use; if you want a tall, lithe female character, use lighter swords. Wielding a large battle axe will result in your character becoming much more buff.

<table align="left" bgcolor="#ffffff" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="10" height="111" width="176"> <tbody> <tr> <td> "It also evolves based on your Gamerscore. It can be traded. It will be named after you."

</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Saying that "we're bored of making new weapons," Molyneux revealed that all players will be able to craft their own totally unique weapons. Every weapon starts sort of bland and will change to reflect the way you use it. It can also level up. Its look will change; killing Hobbes make it spiky, Hollowmen make it blunt, for example. The more you use it, the bigger it gets. Kill innocents, it drips blood. It also evolves based on your Gamerscore. It can be traded. It will be named after you.

Combat also features more finishing moves and level of gore dependent on how evil your character is. Every player will develop a pair of ethereal wings that will grow and display their power. Molyneux calls them an "extreme expression."

On the topic of co-op, he couldn't expound too much, saying only that "pretty much whatever you can do in single player, you can do in co-op."

So, what about those things Molyneux had tweeted would "seriously piss off" fans? It involves "simplification," he says. Health bars, for example, are gone, replaced by a FPS-like desaturation of color. The biggest change, however, is the removal of experience orbs. Molyneux likened leveling up in Fable 2 to using Windows 7 (go corporate synergy!). In place of the orbs, Fable 3 will rely on "followers" -- do good and get more, do poorly they'll leave. They're what will determine the overall greatness of your character.

With a Fall release promised, we're certain to be seeing much more of Fable 3 soon – with Fable 2 occupying Joystiq's top spot for 2008, we're equally excited and nervous about the changes. For now, we're giving Mr. Molyneux the benefit of the doubt. We're not pissed off ... yet.

Kalyx triaD 02-11-2010 11:33 PM

So in co-op I can go in your game and... touch your child? Sweet.

Drakul 02-11-2010 11:44 PM

I'm willing to bet a few people will try to run off with my child/wife. You can seperate now in co-op.

Quote:

Molyneux says all of the contextual touching will also work in cooperative modes, allowing you to interact with other players in the same way.

The co-op will also allow you to separate in game, he said.

"You could go off earning money, while I go off to kill people," Molyneux said. "It's a true co-op experience."

New video, likely a Dev Diary, will be up on the market place in roughly 24 hours.

Kalyx triaD 02-12-2010 03:28 AM

If we can split up does that mean the world map is streaming or what? I can imagine it still working with the way it is now but that could be clunky.

Drakul 02-12-2010 05:35 AM

I've not seen anything about the world streaming or not but I hope it does.

I keep coming back to this shot. I remember being legit fond of my Fable 2 family and being able play with my Fable 3 daughter will be cool. The idea that something could happen to them permanently will probably keep me from introducing any of you to my family. I like that this game and it's concepts make me feel that way already.

Drakul 02-12-2010 11:16 AM

If someone online tries to abduct your child or run off with your wife, I hope we can attack them. Oherwise, a lot of people online will be kidnapping everyones family. I'm going to be very selective of who I introduce to my family. I'd trust pretty much everyone on my friend list but most likely no strangers.

The dev diary is up. We can see the game in motion briefly a few times. Looks like there is a fair bit of blood in the game. The morphs are very interesting to me.

◦ You can trade your customised weapon online and it will be named after your Gamertag. E.G. *Gamertag*s Hammer of Hobb-Killing.
◦ In Co-Op you can marry the other player.
◦ Magic has no cap and will just keep charging as long as you hold the button. You could charge your magic for hours and unleash a "Thermonuclear" like attack.
◦ Magic isn't set like it is in Fable II. In Fable III, your magic is set to items you wear (the example Peter Molynuex gave was rings). You wear the small items and each one has a magic attack.
◦ Magic can be weaved togethor. For example, weaving a fire attack and a wind attack togethor.

Fable III tie-in:
Quote:

Can gamers expect a tie-in product similar to Fable II: Pub Games for Lionhead's upcoming Fable III? Microsoft's Peter Molyneux told attendees at X10 that something was in the works.

Molyneux wouldn't detail the tie-in, only teasing that the product is "a really cute, very very cute 'outside of Fable III' experience that I'm not talking about." Molyneux, who felt a need to reiterate how adorable the "experience" will be, proclaimed: "It's really, really cute. It's not Pub Games." Sadly, whether the "really cute" experience would be a Xbox Live Arcade release wasn't confirmed. What is confirmed, however, is that this thing should be pretty ugly. No. Wait, forgive us. We're pretty sure he said cute.
Source. Since that article was posted, I'm sure it has been confirmed as an XBLA thing.

Some intersting stuff. Marrying the other player is going to be something I'm sure a lot of gaming couples will do. If we can marry another player, do you think we can have kids with them? Sounds like it could be used as a 2-player fantasy based life sim.
I'm liking the whole weapon morph, magic weave thing to. Hope it's extensive.

Gigantic fire blast. Gigantic time slow.

Gigantic raise dead.

Drakul 02-18-2010 12:53 AM

You know someone is actually going to hold down the B button for a few hours just to see how big a specific attack gets.

They should cut to a scene like the famous F-Zero anime scene with the Falcon Punch if you pull off a thermonuclear style attack.

Infact, just make it the ending of the game.

So far, I like everything mentioned except for the tie in (Pub Games sucks) and the lack of a HUD. I like how Fable 2's HUD was set up.

This tie in wont be Pub Games so no worries there. I'm betting it's either gong to be a tie in where we play as the dog or as our Fable III hero as a really young child. PM keeps talking about how cute it is so I'm assuming it's either dogs or babies.

One of the voice actors/characters has been revealed by LH on Twitter.

Great, Stephen Fry is brilliant and Reaver was my favourite Fable II character by a long way. I'm hoping he's around a lot longer this time. I wouldn't be surprised if he was brought back just so people could kill him.

Fable III is at GDC. I've been keeping an eye on tweets from Lionhead staff. The first article is up. John Cleese was confirmed as being in the game as our butler:

Quote:

The announcement was made during Molyneux's speech at the Game Developers Conference. He showed the audience how the pause menu from previous Fable games is being replaced with a set of rooms your character can wander around, accessed at any time by pressing the start button.

These include a dressing room where you can see clothes displayed on mannequins, rather than presented in a list you have to scroll through. In the room is a butler, who Molyneux described as being like a cross between P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves and Albert from Batman.

"We were inspired by the idea that people kept saying we were making this game with Monty Pythonesque humour, so we got John Cleese as your butler," Molyneux said. Apparently the butler will lay out your clothes, picking a suitable outfit depending on where you are in the game's story - so fancy robes if you've made it to the role of king, for example.

"We have recorded a vast amount of AI dialogue and having John Cleese big you up in a slightly sarcastic way is absolutely wonderful," added Molyneux. "He is an absolutely fantastic character."

Fable III is coming this "holiday". Look out for a proper chat with Molyneux on Eurogamer very soon

They spoke about combat and touch as well and had a demo. Expect a video soon. Now, some screens:

Win.

I wonder what advances to multiplayer is coming (though we a pretty good idea what they'll improve first).

Drakul 03-12-2010 10:10 PM

All we know about multiplayer so far is:
- We'll have our own camera and we can split up but we're stuck in the same region until we both decide to leave.
- You'll take your actual Hero with you and his dog into multiplayer along with all your weapons and items.
- You can marry the other player.
- You can see where your friends are at anytime by going to the map screen and pressing Y. Look at the above map screens, you'll see the Y button is listed as showing us friends. Peter mentions it in one of the IGN videos.

Peter Molyneux twittered:

I dont know... the art direction never really caught my eye for this game.

Kalyx triaD 03-12-2010 11:25 PM

I had a lot of that fantasy stuff in my upbringing because of PBS and the like so I have a soft spot for the story book art.

Khuntry 03-12-2010 11:39 PM

I guess that explains it

Kalyx triaD 03-12-2010 11:42 PM

I liken Fable to Halo in the way it takes it's genres conventions, simplifies it, and heavily expands them. It's a narrow kind of game development that polarizes gamers, but it works for me.

Drakul 03-14-2010 12:58 AM

Two videos. I'd imagine Kalyx will get a bigger kick out of the first video than most of us. "Touch" in action.

<a title="Gamereactor" href="http://www.gamereactor.eu/"><object width="308" height="512"><param name="movie" value="http://www.gamereactor.eu/grtv/embed/gamereactor.swf?file=http://www.gamereactor.eu/grtv/embed/sliderlist.php?id=6981"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.gamereactor.eu/grtv/embed/gamereactor.swf" height="308" width="512" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="file=http://www.gamereactor.eu/grtv/embed/sliderlist.php?id=6981"/></object></a>

Combat, the first half is in Italian but the second half is English. We see some of the finishing moves. They look pretty cool.
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CCh6seMPu8A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CCh6seMPu8A&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I don't know if I've mentioned it already but your physical appearance will depend on the kind of weapon you use. Using a huge hammer makes you large and muscular where as something like a rapier will make you thin and gracefull, for example.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Josh Atkin, the guy in charge of combat, went back and looked at Street Fighter & Soul Calibur to see how to get fighting to feel smooth and enjoyable. Hopefully, it'll make combat much better.

Kalyx triaD 03-14-2010 05:10 AM

Did I say win, before? Well again: win. And just knowing there's co-op splitscreen or online on top of all of this...

Drakul 04-11-2010 03:00 PM

A little titbit from the UK OXM. Someone posted this on the Lionhead Forums.

Quote:

Lionhead has worked hard on making the combat far more fluid this time around, so when design director Josh Atkins surrounded himself with bandits, he was able to dispatch them all in a series of silky smooth attacks. Instantly switching between a huge hammer and a rifle, Atkins was launching foes into the air with a hefty swing of the melee weapon and then juggling them with gunfire in a sequence of attacks that was more reminiscent of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry's gloriously over-the-top brand of action than traditional RPG hacking and slashing. To further add to the satisfaction, you'll be able to unlock a series of elaborate, and at times surprisingly violent, finishing moves that play out in slow motion.

If you go questing together and become locked in combat, Atkins reckons having two players in the mix will change the dynamic entirely. Like in single-player, you'll earn followers by killing enemies, but in a neat twist the game will reward you with extra followers if you perform combined attacks. They aren't canned maneuvers, but if you tee up a Hobbe with your hammer and then your friend shoots it out of the sky, the game will rightly recognise that as worthy of an extra pat on the back.

Co-Op ruling
You and your friend can rule Albion as king and queen. What's more, the team seems committed to ensuring the experience is in no way compromised. You'll be able to enjoy, ahem, intimate moments with your co-op friend and eventually produce offspring together. But what about absentee parents? Well, just as AI characters have relationships with the host, they'll also have relationships with the visiting player as well. If you don't spend enough time playing with the sprogs, your relationship will suffer. By contrast, if you're popping into a mate's game and he's already married, for example, you can flirt with his wife in an attempt to steal her away. Don't expect to be invited back too often, though.

While the big decisions will still be left to the host, the team plans to allow visiting players to make judgements as well, and any gold, items or followers that are accumulated in someone else's game can be brought back into your own. Players can even become business partners and pool their money to, for example, pay for property that is too expensive for either to afford on their own.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-11-2010 04:57 PM

Fable + Bayonetta =

Kalyx triaD 04-11-2010 06:21 PM

I was just thinking of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series adapting action game elements on top of an RPG structure. And the co-op sounds ridiculous, now I gotta worry about dudes stealing my wife as well as killing her. Awesome... for some reason. The prospect of marrying other player's avatars is interesting but being that we're most likely gonna create guys I'll pass. No Prop 8 in Albion.

Actor Sir Ben Kingsley has confirmed he’s to appear in Fable III.
He now joins a massive list of other celebs to join the Lionhead RPG, including John Cleese, Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry.
He will play the role of the “King of Mist”.
“I’m a voice in a new video game shortly – Fable III. I’m a wonderful wizard character who is the king of Mist Peak,” Kingsley said to CVG.
He goes on to add: “It’s very energising and good for us actors to realise that [acting] is so diverse now. [Games] are as big a jump now as I suppose when cinema was invented, when people went from the stage to the cinema thinking: It’s not really acting, is it? Now, it’s video games – and it is acting. It’s very demanding.”
Fable III’s due out by the end of the year for 360.

King me.

Drakul 05-22-2010 01:35 AM

Limited Edition has been announced.

http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets.../fableiile.jpg

It contains:
  • A new quest: Uncover the mystery of the haunted forests of Silverpines and earn the legendary sword, Wolfsbane, deadly against wolves and balverines.
  • Exclusive location: Unlock a new region, ideal for settling down with a family and discovering new treasures.
  • “Fable III” playing cards: Created by Lionhead, these cards depict every type of character in “Fable III,” including Heroes, royals, rebels and villains from across Albion and beyond.
  • Guild Seal Coin: The coin features a Good side (blue) and Evil side (red) to assist players in making critical decisions that will impact the fate of the world forever.
  • A new dog breed: Renowned for its loyalty, the Boxer is a brave canine companion worthy of greatest Queens and Kings.
  • One unique outfit: Unearth one male and female outfit from the mysterious, faraway land of Aurora, a new destination in your “Fable III” adventures.

It'll cost you around about $79.99/£59.99/€84.99. GAME usually take £10 off the RRP of games, so it's closer to £49.99, really.

I'm getting Fable III for sure but I'm not sure about the LE. I guess if I don't buy any more games except the "must haves", I could afford the LE. I heard the Fable II LE was a shambles. That makes me a little unsure about buying this LE incase it's the same case with this.

Loved coop and the 'multiverse' sorta deal with the orbs. Would like to see how they expanded that.

Drakul 06-18-2010 01:08 AM

Well, they did say we could take our hero, dog, weapons and inventory into each others worlds. We wouldn't be tied togethor and could run independantly around an area. We'll have our own camera and we can marry/sleep with/have kids with the other players.

I'm not sure what else they could add to that.

One more thing has been confirmed and another has been hinted at. It's been cofirmed our Hero now has dialouge and a voice but it's kept to a minimum.

Lionhead have hinted at naval battles:

Drakul 07-04-2010 12:10 AM

They showed that as a demo while Peter Molynuex spoke about combat etc. Good to see it without him talking over it.

I'm liking the music in Fable III so far. Sounding better than F2 already even though I liked that soundtrack.

The thing I'm wondering is if the wolf will attack the girl at 0:54 eventually if you just wait, not that I would wait around. It just wont feel as urgent if the wolf stands there growling forever until you kill it.
PM is against the idea of violence towards kids in games so I can't see her getting killed if you just stand there.

Extreme Angle 07-04-2010 04:32 AM

Maybe somebody else comes and kills her, like if you don't shoot that guy at the end of the second.
Or it picks her up and carries her away

McDoogle 07-04-2010 06:48 AM

Was that a gun and sword combo? Never played Fable before but that looked interesting.

Drakul 07-04-2010 08:20 AM

Yeah, you combo guns, swords and magic. One article from a while back said comboing was similar to Bayonetta or DMC in that you can knock an enemy into the air with an axe and blast a few bullets into him before he hits the ground.

Kane Knight 07-04-2010 08:29 AM

Has PM promised the moon yet?

Requiem 07-04-2010 03:02 PM

Really hope they did some improvement on the engine this time around. Didn't care for Fable II because the damn thing was so sluggish. Felt like you were ice skating all the time too.

Drakul 07-04-2010 08:40 PM

It should run smoother. The sluggishness in F2 was down to all the numbers, stats and items you had. If you had lots of items and went into Bowerstone, the game would reduce to a crawl. They've done away with the stats and numbers and pages of items so, yeah, should run smoother.

New interface is much better. No stopping to dig through endless menu pages.

If you look at the video at about 1:05, you can see we can now haggle. There are other little bits of info here and there in the vid like the ability to name weapons whatever we like etc. I'm betting we'll see tons of Master Swords being traded online.

Put in my preorder at Amazon to lock in the $20 credit incase they lower it to $10 before release, which has happened to quite a few games in the past.

For preordering you should get access to the NPC creator. Yeah LH have said pre orders will get an NPC creator.

Fast forward to 6:10

Preordering this.

Not sure why I'd wanna create an NPC.

Funky Fly 07-31-2010 04:37 PM

Would you rather just have a shitty code that unlocks something already in game (GH:WT)? Or a shitty headband (SF4)? It may not be a Lucha mask, but damn if it ain't cool.

Kalyx triaD 07-31-2010 04:39 PM

Actually I equate them all as lame. I have no reason to dress an NPC.

At best they have to mean my wife or kid, then I'd bite.
