I wonder how all of the little kids who are his fans will have this explained to them. And since it goes into effect Wednesday, it gives them time to get the Intercontinental title off of him

I admit I'm a big Mysterio fan and I was not expecting this. But yes: this would make a great Punk/Mysterio feud.

As some of you may know I am a huge Ziggler mark but I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet we've seen people change shows (eg Edge) to be the titleholder. Although logically I would think if they were gonna keep it on a face they would have Morrison keep it warm for him. Too bad for Rey I think he may be in fact the next to feud with CM Punk when Taker is done with him.

Rey is facing Punk for the Title at a house show this weekend here (well, in Ocean City). I doubt its a view of any future plans and more due to taker not working house shows and having no other faces to face Punk, but whatever.

Hmm. With the departure of Jeff Hardy and this suspension of Rey Mysterio, the Smackdown main event face scene has taken a big hit. Luckily Taker is coming back. But maybe this will give Morrison a chance to really break through into the main event. Or even Matt Hardy.

I want to know exactly what kind of drug he got caught on.

They should make itit public and get a "merchandise" deal with like Compton drug store, or something.

I've noticed over the years that people seem almost happy to break news like this. I, for one, think this sucks. The IC title was finally getting some cred back.

Dolph Ziggler should win/keep the IC title for quite some time.

I don't think Rey did anything special for the IC title. Yea, he had some great matches with Jericho and Ziggler, but I seem to have an issue with former world champs holding the IC title. The IC title was a stepping stone for guys like The Rock, Steve Austin, Randy Savage, HBK, Triple H, Eddie Guerrero, and more. The IC title should be used to build up new stars, not a place holder for a guy who moves some merch.

Ziggler is the best wrestler ever and he should be very proud of his upcoming title reign.

Also, very surprised by this suspension.

To me, this kind of reeks of the WWE being able to point at Rey and say, "SEE!? WE AREN'T AFRAID TO SUSPEND OUR TOP GUYS!!"

At the very least, I wonder how they're going to get the title off Mysterio, especially since Ziggy wasn't supposed to get his title shot until Breaking Point. Rey's suspension conveniently doesn't begin until Wednesday, September 2nd, which gives them time to write in an excuse to have a title match during next week's Smackdown tapings on Tuesday.

Either way, it's going to make Ziggy look like the future star he is.

Dolph Ziggler is awesome because he just exudes that classic heel look. He has been impressing me ever since that first match he had against Batista. Since he moved to Smackdown he has just sky-rocketed.

I must say though that I prefer his first theme (the one on page 1 of this thread) to his new one. Sad that they changed it.

Yeah. Ziggy getting the IC title now is a lock. Probably would have gotten it regardless since it's gonna be his second try in as many PPVs.

Well I for one was watching the match itself obviously but when he faced Khali for the very 1st time I could say that I actually marked for him.

Jeter I believe simply fell through the cracks and was never develop properly and I still think that WWE really dropped the ball on Kenny Dysktra but I think politicing from the bigger names (I'm looking a you Trips) were responsible for burying him too.

Watching him shake people's hands. It wasn't until he had that match with Batista (I think it was his first match?) that he impressed me.

I also loved the Spirit Squad.

I wouldn't say I'm a Ziggler mark. I've always enjoyed him, though. Especially his match with Dave.

The only thing for me is Dolphs name if its a play on the guy from boogie nights it shows that Vince and his writers knowledge of pop culture stops just short of 1998 which explains why vince wont promote younger talent.

Rey has been at the top of his game as of late. Not sure where this anti-Mysterio business is coming from or why you would NOT THIS WAY want Ziggler to win the belt like this.

Dolph Ziggler is awesome, because as his new theme suggests, he is perfection. Also, I kinda wonder how this is going to affect the IC title situation, since Ziggler won a #1 Contender Match for the IC title shot on Superstars tonight, and if the suspension goes into effect next Wed., I hate to say it, but we may have a taping next week for SD! or Superstars that results in Ziggler taking the gold at that point.

The other idea they could pursue, if they're absolutely hell-bent on having an IC title match at Breaking Point, since it looks like Taker is going to be in the WHC scene come Sept. 13, make it a match between Ziggler and Morrison. Even if Morrison doesn't win the title right away, have him chase it for a bit, and have him win it sometime before the end of the year, or even early next year, and if he drops it before the Rumble, have him win the Rumble to get a WM WHC shot, either that or have him go into WM as IC champ and have him win MitB, and win the WHC later in the year, preferably several months removed from any hypothetical IC title run.
