NEW THREAD PER YEAR....!

YOUR Hero always runs it and i'm sure he will again this year. Can we cut some of the plugs? Also maybe some money involved? Even just like $20 would be fun. I would trust Hero with the money for sure. I'm sure we could get some interest even if it is only a few of the guys. I feel like we have a pretty good group of hockey fans here.

I just started up my league I always run, $75. They also have some cool new features this year. The ability to make the playoffs 8 teams instead of 6 and also the inclusion of divisions. I say we should DEF do both. Also why don't we have a 16 team league? Makes for a much better league and guys can't just draft and sit back. I don't know, just my two cents.

Lets get this thing started though.

Actually my 80 dollar league is not going this year so this will probably be the only one I do this year and therefore can give it my full attention. Therefore, I want in

So I created a league. Right now I just pretty much defaulted it to last year's settings just so I could get it underway and get a good draft day. Once I have a few spare minutes (not today) I will look at changing up some things if they are warranted.

So far from last year I have not invited the following: (this could change if the person is going to be active)

Gertner, Skippord, Splaya.

Gertner and Skippy, you are both knowledgable but you tend NOT to update your teams very much. If you do wish to be included I need you to promise me you'll be active.

Splaya: Mainly the same thing, as the two above (but to a lesser extent) plus that questionable trade dealing & line up editing. Now, I'm ok with taking you at your word, but there were some managers last year that really thought it was a fix. I would like to get their feedback on your inclusion.

It would be good if the people who did fuck all last season were kicked out. Nothing worse than some guy who signs up, misses the draft and then doesn't check his team for the rest of the season.

I also think those involved in 'fixing' trades should be kicked out. As a game it's good to play hard, be active and to try to win, but cheating to win is just embarrassing.

Scot - can you look at creating an 'even schedule' this year so we don't end up playing some teams 3 times. At the moment with 25 weeks scheduled (does that include playoffs?) that would mean you'd play 3 teams 3 times - which is fine if you end up drawing the teams with the manager who has given up.

Have you cut a bench slot because 4 bench players seems a bit short.

Also, 1 IR slot??? Come on. 2 at least.

Is it possible to move the draft either a week forward or back, as i won't have access to the internet the weekend that the draft is set to take place?

Unless it will inconvenience the vast majority of the other members, in which case it may as well stay the way it is.

That weekend is bad for me as well.

With trades and some people fixing trades is it not better to have commish veto rather than relying on league votes. League votes requires the majority to vote against a trade and with some people not bothering to check the league or their teams it makes it very easy to slip bullshit trades through.

I really don't want a situation like last year where we had people trading players to their friends, benching their goalies when playing their friends etc, because that just makes the league a farce.

Also why not a late Sunday night draft? Some people go out on a Friday and are hung over or like to sleep in. Also people go out of town on weekends as well.

Sunday at like 7 or 8 would be better.

Also can we please make it AT LEAST 14 teams?

So I added 2 teams, to bring it to 14. I hope it works out. I'm finding that it is hard enough to get 12 active teams. We'll see.

I would not take one of those guys straight up for Heatley. Bobby Ryan, Brain Rafalski, Jay Bouwmeester, Andrei Markov are not even close to the same level.

Thornton is closebut I picked Heatley before Thornton so obviously that would make no sense. Getzlaf would be the only one that would be close for me but Heatley is going to be HUGE on SJ this year.

You also took Getzlaf over Crosby which was completely retarded so who knows with you.

I wouldnt do a straight up either for any of those, I am saying that it appears you think they arent great players. I want Heatley, because I have Big Joe, you want the reverse so its not going to work.


Getzlaf is the better fantasy player, while he got 20 less points (which I expect the gap will close this year), he gets about the same amount of points on PP and about the same +/-. I also knew I was going to draft Ryan (if available) or trade for him, so they complement each other. Also, I can afford to give up 10-20 points so I can draft a player who gets loads of PIM while putting up more then 10-20 points all season. Last year there might have been 10 max players with above 40 points and had 80+ PIM. If I could have gotten Malkin and Crosby, I would have drafted him but you and I both know I wasnt getting both. I have arguably 2/4 best centers in the game and 2/3 best fantasy wise, so I am content with that.

Malkin + Crosby = 1 Pittsburg PP goal would likely result in (hopefully) 1G 1A 2PP for me

Since It would be next to impossible to get both of those guys and since again, IMO, Getzlaf is the better fantasy player anyways along with having Bobby Ryan.

Getzlaf + Ryan = 1 Anaheim PP or ES goal = (hopefully) 1G 1A +2 or 1G 1A 2PP

if I had Perry it could potentially be 1G 3A +3 or 1G 2A + 3PP

I had one of the greatest weeks Ive had from my goalies, and keep in mind I left 2 outstanding perfomances by both Masons on the Bench back on Thursday. Now the question is, will they do it for me again this upcoming week. I have my doubts..

lol, I had no idea how to track how mine and my opponents teams were doing until Droford just mentioned it. Why didn't anyone post how to check it up until today? I would have tried to pickup a goon to try and push me over the top for PIM. Oh well, this playoff format was a failure and taints my superb regular season victory. Congrats to Droford for beating me this week.

I just did notice it now. I was gonna go add up all the stats but then I saw the matchup link and I clicked it thinking it was a backdoor to the score but it only calculates that teams scores so I still had to calculate my own.

Droford you should walk this - my schedule is absolutely horrible this week. Plus with teams resting guys for the playoffs, loads of guys being scratched late.

I think Yahoo have given up on hockey this week. All the reports say Sedin scored a shorthanded goal on tuesday but Yahoo haven't counted it. Given how bad my goaltending is this week I need all the offensive points I can get. Fucking Yahoo.
