College Football 2009 Thread

How do we not have this made yet? COME ON

Anyway the season has started and shit's already getting CRAZY

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 01:31 PM

Northern Iowa is up on Iowa right now at halftime. Big Ten needs to stop scheduling I-AA opponents.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 01:32 PM

Lou Holtz just called Charlie Weis the most underrated football coach in the country. Wow

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-05-2009 01:37 PM

Greg Paulus putting in work right now for Syracuse against Minnesota. The Carrier Dome is rocking right now, crazy atmosphere. 'Cuse defense is swarming all over the place too

Up 20-14 at the half right now, could have been more don't understand that. They had 3 time-outs and they just let Minnesota run out the clock, guess they wanted to go into the break w/ the momentum and not fuck anything up?

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 01:57 PM

This OSU game isn't making me feel too good about next weekend. The line isn't holding up against fucking Navy with their 230 lb. linemen. What are they gonna do against USC

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 03:24 PM

LOL holy shit crazy finish to the Iowa/Northern Iowa game

Down by 1, Northern Iowa kicks a field goal on 1st down with :07 left and Iowa blocks it. But since the ball never crosses the line of scrimmage and Northern Iowa recovered the ball with :01 left, Northern Iowa keeps the ball and gets another chance. But Iowa blocks it again

Skippord 09-05-2009 08:41 PM

does Notre Dame pay Lou Holtz or something, he's said Jimmy Clausen is a heisman candidate and that Notre Dame will play Florida in the national championship game

Evil Vito 09-05-2009 08:59 PM

Bradford goes down...diagnosed with an AC sprain in his shoulder, an injury that typically keeps you out for a couple of weeks at minimum. I'd like to hear Jim Ross' opinion on the matter.

Skippord 09-05-2009 09:09 PM

also Navy keeping the game with Ohio State so close was a nice surprise

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 10:03 PM

LET'S GO MORMONS

He was a former coach for ND and never really had anything bad to say about the club during the Willingham & Weis eras. Probably more excited that ND is finally getting better after their decline a few years ago although Notre Dame does have a decent chance to be in a BCS bowl based on schedule.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 10:19 PM

Which is ridiculous that they're held to the same standard as non BCS schools and can get to BCS bowls without playing anybody. Whatever though, they're going to get obliterated by USC and will probably get swept by the Michigan schools.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-05-2009 10:20 PM

Big Game Bob Stoops better go back to the drawing board.

Skippord 09-05-2009 10:43 PM

pretty stoked that the Mormons beat Oklahoma

I feel like BYU should get an advantage in all of their games being that they don't have any black players

I think Notre Dame's main problem with the schedule is they lock up series vs other teams more than anyone else mainly because of no confrence so in certain years the schedule is too easy while in other years its tougher than others. Every year they are guaranteed to play USC, Michigan, Michigan State, Army, and Navy and they never play a D-1AA school. If they were in a confrence then most of their schedule is taken care of except for a few non-confrence games.

Evil Vito 09-07-2009 11:53 PM

Fantastic Miami/Florida State game

Boomer 09-08-2009 12:01 AM

Yeah best game I saw all week for sure.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-08-2009 02:54 AM

Unreal game, can't believe FSU didn't score a TD at the end.

RP 09-08-2009 07:49 AM

Purdues season will be defined this saturday. Do they beat a stunned Oregon team and build on the win and possibly get 8 wins this season, or do they lose the game and pack it in for the rest of the season.

They looked impressive against Toledo. If they beat Oregon, they'll be 3-0 with Notre Dame coming to town. If they pull that upset, they're ranked for sure and they're 6-0 with OSU coming to town.

Gotta beat Oregon first tho. They can do this. That team is stunned still. They got the offense to jump on them.

BCWWF 09-08-2009 11:40 AM

Mizzou stomps Illinois (again) to start the season.

Also, I'll take Ohio State over USC.

If so, he is an idiot..

Also, even though I'm not a OSU fan, I do love me some Cameron Heyward..

I heard that too. The guys on the show were asking each caller when was the last time they murdered someone.

I heard it on WWL (local NOLA news/sports radio station) and "The Cajun Cannon" Bobby Hebert was going off about it..

Makes sense, if everything plays out the its predicted Tebow is probably going to go down as one of, if not the most, heralded college football of all time.

Kevin Faulk is pretty high up on that SEC list I think or maybe it's the total yardage list. Don't sleep

Supreme Olajuwon 09-15-2009 01:46 AM

Just looked it up. Faulk is 3rd. Kinda weird seeing him on the list next to Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, and Shaun Alexander.

Yeah, I dunno if it was Keith Nichol or Kirk Cousins that got us screwed over, but it really pissed me off. Should've played it safe and seen what a run play would get us (yeah, I know, no guarantee the ball carrier wouldn't have fumbled the ball or w/e but still), and if it hadn't been enough for a 1st, then we'd've still had a shot to tie the game with a FG if all else had failed, and try to force OT, but NOOOOO, our QB makes a stupid throw, and thus we're now 1-2 on the season.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-20-2009 01:32 AM

Heisman dark horse this season is Tony Pike, QB for Cincinnati. Watch for this guy. He's nasty.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-20-2009 02:33 AM

Good bye BYU & Utah's hopes for the BCS, knew some of these non-BCS teams would be dropping already

USC on track to play in the Rose Bowl once again but not the National Championship, seems like this happens every year?

Skippord 09-20-2009 02:38 AM

USC chokes in one game every year

it's awfully weird

Emperor Smeat 09-20-2009 03:04 AM

PAC-10 is too weak for them to be a top 2 BCS team unless they have everyone else ranked above them lose at least 1-2 times this season.

Utah and non-BCS teams are never going to get anything more than a symbolic gesture in high rankings since a Utah or Boise State in a title game means BCS conferences have to split BCS bowl money with non-member conferences. Utah only got #2 last year because the bowls were already over and because Texas almost lost to Ohio State.

Jevon Sneed

If anyone thinks tebow isnt getting the heisman this year your on something.... and i dont even like the guy

Skippord 09-20-2009 08:15 PM

Jahvid Best

Supreme Olajuwon 09-20-2009 11:12 PM

You people clearly don't understand what a darkhorse is. But thank you for mentioning the Heisman frontrunners. That really helped.

Skippord 09-21-2009 01:57 AM

oh I just wanted to say Jahvid Best. did not read anything else in here

it's a fun name

Kris P Lettus 09-21-2009 03:14 PM

Is Sneed really a "front runner"??

Supreme Olajuwon 09-21-2009 03:40 PM

Yeah man. He's the star player on a preseason top 10 team and he's nationally known. That makes him at least a very good candidate.

Cincy wasn't ranked to start the season and nobody really knows anything about them. But they've beaten 2 BCS schools on the road and now they're starting to get press.

Kris P Lettus 09-21-2009 03:46 PM

Steve Spurrier got in a load of shit when he picked Sneed for the All SEC team over Teebow..

:dunno:

Supreme Olajuwon 09-21-2009 03:54 PM

Ok but come on that's Tim Tebow. Just because Michael Jordan won more MVPs than Charles Barkley doesn't mean Barkley was not a great player.

LOL are you fucking kidding me? You can't be serious with this line of thinking, you really can't

For a darkhorse how about the QB from Houston, Case Keenum? He had a huge year last year and now his team is trying to be the BCS buster. If they stay undefeated I think he will be invited for the ceremony at least.

Skippord 09-22-2009 02:34 AM

I think Kellen Moore at Boise's pretty good

Skippord 09-25-2009 01:18 AM

Bummer times for Ole Miss

Emperor Smeat 09-25-2009 03:51 PM

Ole Miss was over-ranked. No way they are a legit #4 team when you consider which teams were below them in the Top 10/Top 25. Not saying they aren't a good team but over-ranked due to the perception of the SEC and their good QB they have.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-25-2009 04:14 PM

I dunno I mean the only reason they got as high as they did is because a bunch of top 10 teams lost already. Plus it's always hard to win conference games on the road.

RP 09-26-2009 03:31 PM

IU just got robbed at a chance to beat Michigan. They were down 3 points with the ball. Throw the ball and its caught by both the reciever and the cornerback and they both hit the ground. The rules are pretty clear. If both players have possession when they hit the ground, its offense ball. The refs called it an interception. They reviewed it and refused to overturn it. Michigan ball. Ball game.

I'm sorry, i know its a great story to see Michigan be a fantastic team again, but that was way to obvious. The refs stole the game. If you have a fucking system set up where a college team like IU has literally no shot a BCS bowl game unless they go undefeated or win there conference and you have refs who either a) dont know the rules of the game or B) are robbing IU with a terrible call on purpous ( which looked like it to me ), then IU has no shot in hell at ever competing in college football. End of story.

RP 09-26-2009 03:31 PM

And i love ESPN too. They act like they didnt see a thing. Good job ESPN.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-26-2009 05:19 PM

I think it was an non-reviewable play. Still a bunch of bullshit though. How do you get simultaneous possession wrong?

Evil Vito 09-26-2009 05:30 PM

Fuck it, change the rules. Simultaneous possession will now be decided by the faster player on offense and the fastest player on defense running towards the ball in a scramble. Nobody has ever done this before...

:shifty:

Droford 09-26-2009 06:07 PM

Oregon is kicking Cal's ass. Also, so much for Miami being back this year as well.

And I cant wait for Tebow to give everyone swine flu...

Droford 09-26-2009 07:02 PM

31-0 Florida after 15 minutes.

I don't think the flu had anything to do with it. He was throwing up from the concussion, he was knocked out cold. It was one of the most violent hits I've ever seen. He took one right under the chin then on the way down an offensive linemen accidentally drove his knee right into the back of his head. I really cant think of anything else to describe it other than violent

No clue why Florida even had him out there by the time the hit occurred since they already had destroyed Kentucky. I think Meyer wanted to embarrass Kentucky to prove that Tennessee wasn't a tough game and continue saying it was the flu that made them play bad last week

It's disgusting really. I'm not even a huge IU fan. I just watched cause i knew IU had a decent team. There was no evidence to say that IU wouldnt have tied that game. To get that call wrong is basically robbery. And ofcourse as you notice, ESPN completely erased that play from there memories in every article about Michigan. Thats sad. Its kinda proof that no lower tier team will ever be able to break through. Way too much money involved for a cinderella to have its day.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-29-2009 12:30 AM

Well Michigan didn't get too much of a bump in the rankings at least this week. I think they lose to State this week

Also Surpreme good call on Pike as a dark horse for the Heisman, Cincy just hit the top 10 for the first time ever.

Pretty much it.. They came into the season in the top ten cause of their win over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl last year.. SEC road games are always hard but Snead played like shit.. D looked pretty good and Dexter McCluster is the fucking man..

I feel really bad for that USC RB who dropped a weight on his throat..

Really wish OSU and Cincy would start scheduling each other regularly. The problem has always been that Cincy wants a home and home and OSU doesn't want to give it to them. That should probably change though.

NCAA declared OK St. WR Dez Bryant is ineligible for the rest of the season because he lied about hanging out with Deion Sanders.

Cowboys are fucked now. Thought they might have a chance to beat Oklahoma this year but not now.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-08-2009 10:51 PM

So stupid. The NCAA is a fucking joke and has no control over so many things going in the world of big time college football. Then a guy lies about eating dinner at Deion Sanders house and he gets suspended.

Emperor Smeat 10-09-2009 03:34 AM

Not to mention they are very inconsistent on who or which schools gets punished. I think USC still hasn't been disciplined for the Reggie Bush/OJ Mayo issues. Kevin Sampson gets banned for coaching for about 5 years while John Calipari gets away with his infractions and Memphis U suffered.
