TNA releases Jim Cornette
- TNA released BG James today. James had been working as an agent and had been receiving good reports from the talent. James has been with the company for almost the entire existence of TNA.
- TNA has also released Jim Cornette. Cornette has been working in the production truck at the Impact tapings lately as well as helping out the younger talent. Cornette has been with the company since 2006. |
what? why would they do that?
unless angle's taking over, which will suck |
Cornette in roh. fuck!
|
I think they probably chalked up Cornette's release to creative differences between him and Dixie Carter or something like that, although I don't pay all that much attention to ANYTHING TNA so I could be wrong, but that's what I thought I had heard about that situation.
|
Come on Cornette to ROH
|
i want to hire jim cornette to manage my every day life

Cornette appearing in ROH under Pearce's booking could be horrible.

TNA released Jim Corneete? Wow, you can almost hear their last shred of credibility as a wrestling promotion fade away.
|
Wait, 450. Did you just use the words "TNA" and "credibility" in the same post? If so, show me evidence of any "credibility" "TNA" has ever had.
|
I haven't seen Cornette since way back when he managed Yokozuna, Vader, and I think Owen Hart too.
If he came back to WWF, I would probably start watching wrestling occasionally again, just to see him on the mic. :y: Love Weapon X's comment, I would also hire Cornette. |
just wondering DAMNi NATOR and 450 have you watched TNA recently?
|
I'm sure I would watch if it wasn't always so consistently God-awful.

I still can't get over some of their atrocious mainstays. The six sided ring, the PPV where every match is a cage match, the reverse ladder match that is reminiscent of setting up a game of Mouse Trap... I'm not taking anything away from their talent. It's just in my eyes everything is horribly misused. I swear you can go into the writers' kitchens and they'll use hammers for can openers. Nothing is used properly. |
I don't watch TNA, but from what I hear it's actually been ok lately.
|
I'd say it's been very good
|
what the crap are they thinking?
jim cornette- fired vince russo- still employed Quote:
|
i'm confident that TNARick will get to the bottom of this after batmanofprowrestling receives his next e-mail from russo.

Getting rid of Cornette was flat out stupid.
I pray this leads the way for Heyman to come in, if they have got rid of Dutch, the only person in creative is Russo, and I fear for all of us if that is true, as I've actually enjoyed TNA alot recently |
I look forward to seeing what Jim Cornette does next. The man has way too good a mind for the business to not find work somewhere. I also like that changes are coming in TNA. Now if we can just get rid of Russo, and bring in Paul Heyman.
|
Corette was close to Jarret?

just when TNA was getting good..

Fuckin wankers.
|
I love Cornette, this is just one more reason for me to not watch TNA, not that I need another reason.
|
I remember cornette was the figurehead that wanted JOe vs Angle for all of the titles... so I welcome this change.
|
I wish WWE would sign Cornette as an on-air talent only. He would make a great GM, or even lead a resurgence of actual managers.
|
Maybe Jim will try and revive Smoky Mtn Wrestling
That'd be so fucking awesome They made the biggest mistake by firing Cornette |
I'm no huge fan of Cornette's, but he was probably the best wrestling mind affiliated with TNA.

Let him write and book. The man knows WRESTLING. He would be a great counter balance to people who book and write sports entertainment. |

This thread needs more facepalm...

Jim Cornette made the following comment on his TNA release today over at his Cornette Collectables Facebook Page:
"Thanks everyone for your kind words but, we are REALLY OK about all of this. Gives us more time to make QUALITY products for Cornette's Collectibles and devote our time to wrestling we actually enjoy being apart of." |
Cornette would be an amazing manager for Khali
|
TNA really wants to be a part of WWE on Demand.

Give him the job of managing Charlie Haas, Mike Knox, Drew McIntyre, and perhaps even Dolph Ziggler (not that Ziggler needs the help). |
Since I was a big DX mark back in the day, I'd actually mark out if the BG James was re-hired by the WWE....quite possibly being involved with the current DX somehow. Kip James (Billy Gunn) also comes back.
I realize that it won't happen but hey....a guy can wish. New Age Outlaws vs. DX. |
According to a report on The Sun website, Jim Cornette's contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling was terminated after throwing one temper tantrum too many. Reportedly, he caused a major scene at the most recent Impact television taping during an argument with head writer Vince Russo.
Cornette directed his anger toward the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion during a production meeting calling for more focus on Eric Young on television. "Everyone was in a production meeting with Russo running down the show, but Cornette went nuts screaming 'why are we pushing Eric Young?'," according to The Sun's source. "Russo reacted calmly and said it wasn't a big deal, but Cornette wouldn't let it go and kept screaming about it, really causing a scene. He just wouldn't stop. Even after the meeting broke, Cornette was walking around complaining to everyone who would listen." A few concerned co-workers went to management to voice their displeasure over their belief that Cornette had been acting unprofessionally. Apparently, this was "his latest refusal to be a pro," so the organization decided to release him from his contract. Similarly, Cornette was released by World Wrestling Entertainment in July 2005 after slapping current WWE star Santino Marella for breaking character and laughing at The Boogeyman during a live Ohio Valley Wrestling show. "This wasn't politics or anything to do with Jeff. It was purely a decision prompted by the same behaviour that got Jim fired in WWE," the source said. |
He slapped Santino? Holy shit.
|
Cornette is behind the times in wrestling. This ain't the 80's.
