Less than two weeks before Backlash, RAW comes to you from Houston where it is expected that Triple H will be in anything but a friendly mood. Last week, Triple H suffered a staggering upset loss when he was pinned by RAW newcomer Shelton Benjamin to end the evening. The night was nearly a complete disaster for Evolution as Ric Flair & Batista appeared to lose the World Tag Team Championship to Chris Benoit & Shawn Michaels. Only a reversal by referee Johnny Nitro allowed Evolution to keep the World Tag Team Championship ... or it could have been one of the worst nights imaginable for the foursome!

How will Triple H react to the loss? What's in store for Shelton Benjamin after the biggest win of his career? Find out on RAW!

Also, last week, several announcements were made concerning Backlash as Triple H was added to the World Heavyweight Championship Match to make it a Final Encounter Triple Threat Match with Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels. It was also announced that Mick Foley will meet Randy Orton for the Intercontinental Championship in a Street Fight/Hardcore Match where Evolution will be banned from ringside. Christian and Chris Jericho will have a WrestleMania rematch, and Edge and Kane will meet as well. What other developments concerning Backlash will happen? Watch RAW to find out!

I thought Backlash was going to be a Smackdown! PPV? I guess I was mistaken.

It might not be good tonihght because of the Ncaa.

Im sure it will still be good, the ratings just wont be as high.

They can either do an awesome show to try and compete for ratings, or they'll do a crappy show because they think nobody will watch. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

For some reason I have the feeling that Shelton Benjamin will change his outfit sometime soon. I've noticed that a lot of times when they try to push people as main eventers they make them stop wearing pants or singlets or anything other than the traditional underwear type thingies.

Yea, it's not a 100% type thing. It's just when you think of most of the main eventers they all wear the little underwear style thingies. They even got big show to wear them for a while *shudder*

were those main events? Brock vs Goldberg was a good idea for a match and had it not been for the fans couldve been a incredibly great match.

Shelt's mic skills could use a little work.

So it's the return of the Raw Recap Show by M-A-G...and, uh, yeah....

Live from Houston, TX (and Laredo if you count this recap). Opening video shows the drama behind last week's Shelton/HHH encounter. DRAMA!!!

HHH opens up the festivities. Sign in the crowd: It's all about the Benjamins. Testify!!! He refers to Benjamin as "this kid" in lieu of making him seem important. He immediately labels the win as a fluke and it won't happen again. Kind of like when he destroyed Jeff Hardy back in 2001 to get back the Intercontinental Title. It's not so much a problem saying it but actually going through with it and proving it to be a fluke kind of puts that impression in the fans eyes. But it's all about Backlash, says HHH! Chris Benoit is the target now and damned if HHH isn't going to win says he. He puts over the danger of the triple threat match before getting interrupted by Shelton Benjamin. I miss the old Team Lenny and Carl music. He just wants to introduce himself. See? WWE can be friendly. Shelton can't live with the possibility of a fluke on his conscience and so he challenges HHH again. JR and King are shocked as if he plans on invading China single-handedly. HHH jobberizes Shelton via mic and denies the request. He explains himself saying Shelton could build a career on what he did last week. Shelton sort of understands and pisses off HHH enough to get HHH to agree to the match. This is kind of an iffy match. HHH is challenging for the belt and shouldn't be viewed as an inept idiot but Benjamin needs the overness. If they can deliver something just as good as last week, it'll be OK.

More power to him if he does.

Back from the break, as WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Chris Benoit is coming out for action. Rob Conway composes the opposition. It's so sad without Dupree. Johnny Nitro arrives in a ref shirt and sling. It's the old Monday Nitro music for him. How...lame. Lock up to start and the chops are unloaded in the corner. Nitro waves him off. Headlock on Conway, shoulder block off an Irish Whip counter. Neckbreaker on Benoit after Grenier distracts Benoit. Benoit comes back with the chops. Suplex on Benoit after a rake of the eyes for a two count. Inverted chin lock on Benoit to slow the pace down. Benoit escapes, goes behind Conway and delivers a German. Clothesline on Conway followed by a backbreaker for two. Snap suplex on Conway but Conway's feet take out Nitro. Grenier in for a double-team Whiplash on Benoit. Certainly cooler than the Double Flapjack. Two count on that from another ref. Grenier is disposed of and Conway eats Crossface and taps to give Benoit the win. Energetic but the ref thing was silly. *1/2

Meanwhile, WILLIAM F</>UCKING REGAL RETURNS to bother Eric Bischoff. He's not back on Raw though officially but Eric might have a spot if he can do a job for him. They bring up the ass kissing which I don't need to remember. Eric wants him to manage his nephew Eugene Dinsmore (Nick Dinsmore's new character that's debuted on house shows). Regal agrees. We'll see where this goes.

Notice that they said you can't be ringside for the main event unless you're officially involved in the match. They'll probably pull an Over The Edge 1998 and make Flair the guest referee, Batista the special guest time keeper, and they'll even throw in Randy Orton as the special guest ring announcer, jsut to stack the odds even more.

That's why I originally said there would be a special ref. I'm not too sure though since they already did a guest ref once tonight. I'm sure it won't be a clean rematch either way.

Matt takes the advantage and goes on the assault. Bulldog off a corner clothesline. Ricochet for two. Elbow to the back for two on Jericho. Snap mare into a surfboard. Jericho escapes and chops away. Flashback slows down Matt. Flying forearm off an Irish Whip. Another try at the corner bulldog from Matt but Jericho gets his variation. Lionsault is countered with knees. Jericho counters the Twist of Fate with a Walls attempt countered to a small package. Running straddle on Matt. Running enziguri on Matt and the Walls are applied for the win. Too short but damn the people were into it. *
