Role playing + first person shooter. I don't know how it's gonna work out but sounds interesting. Most interesting thing to me is the open world and the "hundreds of thousands of guns". If you will be able to customize the characters looks and everything then I think I will definitely buy it.

Although I kind of wish they went with the original art style instead of cel shading, but whatever. Still love what I've read of it so far.

Randomization

The game will also have a unique feature similar to Diablo's random level generation system. This new system will generate more than 650,000 different guns as well as at least 500,000 different item and armor variations, according to the preview of the game in Game Informer magazine. Developers have said that the gun total is now over 16,000,000 (as of PAX 2009).

"We saw a ridiculous amount of guns, but perhaps the strangest was a revolver that fired shotgun shells. Gearbox is constantly surprised with what the system comes up with. They've seen rifles shoot everything from homing darts to rockets. 'One of the guns tracks onto something and locks, and after three seconds, [the target] suddenly explodes,' director Matthew Armstrong says."

The features of the maps will also be randomly generated. While towns, and the general paths connecting them will remain the same, Borderlands features a system that randomly instances the surrounding landscape, with randomly placed things such as bunkers, towers, caves, enemies, and exploding cacti. All of this is done without a loading screen. Gearbox plans that the player will not see a loading screen after they boot up the game.

Guess there won't be a demo before it comes out which sucks.

This game is amazing! Playing with more people definately makes it harder, also depending on the levels of all of the players, but still. It kicks ass.

I've been watching people play and originally I wanted to buy it but I think I would get tired of it soon. The idea of the different guns is cool but I don't know. How is multiplayer? What do you like about it?

I like that if you wanted to, you could have 4 of the same classes. I like that all of the money is shared as opposed to going to 1 person. I like that the level of a player will go hand in hand with the levels of enemies. I also like the drop-in, drop-out scheme. Plus if you get bored with a class, you can leave, change to a new class and join another game and it doesn't overwrite your original characters. I currently am doing the game as a Siren, currently at level 20, but I also have a level 2 Soldier, a level 9 Hunter, and a level 4 Berserker so I can play different characters with different people. If you get it Jura and need some good drops let me know. I've got a ton of shit to spare.

Fucking fuck probably gonna pick this up since it's $40 at Walmart in Canada.

Haven't seen any zombies yet BDC. Although Skagzilla was a bitch and a half. I ran out of ammo for 5 of the 7 guns I was carrying trying to kill that son of a bitch. Although I will say this, Corrosive and Incindiary weapons are fucking amazing. Nothing like watching a dude scream in agony as his face is melted off by acid from your sniper rifle.

You can just say Ermac. Everyone else does. I have to find a new pic of him. The one I had got taken down.:(

Dude, seriously WTF? There is no way you can beat the Raak Hive by yourself. It's not even a fair fight. Those things are everywhere.

From what I hear, this is not for casual gamers. It's pretty hardcore and if you take on enemies even 2 levels higher than you, you'll get fucked. Add to this that if you play in the world of whoever is the host, and said host could be 20 levels higher than you, you get some major setbacks. You pretty much have to find people to play with together at specific times so you can level up together, and stay around the same level.

That's why I'm going with tekken next week.

What gets me is that there was no demo for this.

this game is incredible. Incendiary sniper rifle needs to be a real weapon. I want to shoot people in the face and watch their headless corpse flail around on fire for real.

I prefer hitting them with an incindiary weapon, then a shock weapon, and then watching them melt when hit by my corrosive shotgun. :D

ROFL Yea, although corrosive scattergun blasts in a pack of enemies is also quite fulfilling.

Just got done with a 2 hour run of Borderlands, and I'm happily surprised of how fun it is. I've been hearing little tidbits of info about it for awhile now, but nothing too exciting, that was making me look forward to the release. But had some extra cash to rent a game, and smackdown wasn't in, so I snatched this up. So happy smackdown wasn't in now. This game is addicting, and it seems pretty massive.(something I love in games) Really can't wait to try out some of the co op online play later after raw. I can only assume that adds even more chaos and fun. Plan on playing this late into the night needless to say.

Fucking fuck. Completely sold out across Edmonton. Not just at Walmart either. EVERYWHERE.

Got it this morning on a whim. My area has been sold out but I walked just after the UPS guy dropped off their delivery and got the first one out of the box and the last guide.

Not gonna play for a while cause I got other matters to attend to.

Been considering getting this game. Only question I have is how long does it take to level up to decent ranks ?

Is it more like a grind-style system that needs hours and hours (like Oblivion and World of Warcraft) or quick-style system (like a Paper Mario or Castle Crashers) ?

I got to level 10 in 2 and a half hours.

No grinding needed really. You can level by doing all the quests. I've done every quest in the game and am at level 37. I only have to fight the final boss and the game is over, but you can replay the game after with all your stats to reach level 50.

What class are you using Hanso?

That sounds nice with the 2nd play allowing you to keep the stats.

Never could get interested enough in an RPG due to the grinding most required. I think only RPG I ever finished was Paper Mario on the Gamecube.

Playing as a Soldier and doing the healer tree. Playing with 3 guys from work so we have one of each class.

It is a pretty badass way of leveling. Not having to fight endless wave of lesser level creatures just to get the next level. The quests give a very generous share of exp so you don't have to.

Best way to play the game honestly.

I've just got to say. The Hunter is godly if you put his skill points into the skills that affect the bloodwing. That damn bird hits like 6 targets for 2-3k damage now, +4 fire attack, stuns enemies into super slow motion, steals their health and gives it to me, and only has a cooldown of like 13 seconds.

All i need is him and my trusty shotgun and I can damn near walk through any firefight right now without ever losing my shield.

Also, enemy names on 2nd playthrough are awesome.

the upgraded midget psychos get the nod for best enemy name EVER.

I'm a level 45 I think. Half a second playthrough should put me at 50.

The Underdome DLC is awesome for playing with 2+ players. Later rounds start throwing curveballs at you like no gravity, enemy deal more damage, or enemies move faster, etc. So its not like you're just monotonously mowing down baddies for a cool hour.

Got the G.O.T.Y. of this...unfortunately, I erased all my original progress to make way for other game saves on my HDD, so had to start back from the beginning at level 1. Back to level 19, haven't yet touched the add-ons, but it should tide me over until L.A. Noire, and later, DNF (Duke Nukem Forever) come out.

Loved this game.. Got about halfway through the second playthrough.. Started as a soldier but started over as a hunter, leveling up bloodwing.. Love all the different sniper rifles..

Also the zombie island add-on is fun..

I got the GotY edition new for $20 at Gamestop this past Saturday. I'm up to level 17 but haven't played any of the add-ons yet

This game is pretty fun, i have a shotgun that does 887,457 damage & a lmg that does 467k damage.

Has to be modded then. No shotgun in the game does that amount of damage unless it's modded.

The Eridian weapons are my weapons of choice usually...for quick kills and all that...especially this one i found, the 100 Thunder Storm...202 dmg. × 8.

Up to level 44 so far, just hate how much grinding you have to do in later levels to level up.

Did this last month as well (360). Hate to bump this thread for something so minor, but was just wondering if the GotY ed. comes with the latest update (1.41), which allows you to level up +8 to level 69 upon completion of Playthrough 2 by scaling all the enemies in-game to around your current level (i.e. a level 60 player would typically see enemies anywhere from lvl. 58-62)?

If anyone could answer this, it would be greatly appreciated.
