First vote
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! |
Bret Hart 100%
He is the best ever. |
I have to go w/ Hart.
|
God, here we fucking go.
|
DiBiase, because the internet made me hate Bret Hart.
|
Bret Hart. <3

If only I had never logged on to an internet message board. I could've gone on loving Bret Hart my entire life.
|
And here begins the rise of the brainwashed Hart marks.
|
i voted for hart. i must not have a brain of my own. for shame.
|
"yawn" Bret Hart. Singlehandedly set the WWF back 3 years.

Hart's refusal to job in Montreal and the resultant "Screwjob" have been so overplayed that it's becoming pathetic. Almost anytime Bret Hart gets mentioned on here two groups of equally idiotic posters seem to form: Those who are Hart marks to a ridiculous degree and those who are Hart haters to a ridiculous degree. Whether you liked or disliked his wrestling, good for you, I don't care whether you did or didn't. But if you're going to single out one wrestler, whether it be Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, or HBK, for shit they did backstage, then you are seriously fucking stupid. Wrestlers throw their weight around backstage all the fucking time. It's the goddamn nature of the business. Does that make it ok? Who knows, that's not the point. The point is, you're just as "brainwashed" or "ignorant" as those stupid Hart marks that you talk about. |
Here we go.
|
I'm going to start hating Steve Austin because he refused to job to Brock Lesnar and then I'll criticize anyone who likes him as stupid brainwashed marks who don't know any better. Because Steve Austin refusing to job to Lesnar totally overshadows the rest of his wrestling career.
|
Gotta go with Bret Hart
As much of a fan of Dibiase's I am I still gotta with Bret His classic match with Stone Cold at Wrestlemania was my ultimate decision maker |
I don't remember anybody else taking every known opportunity available to bitch about it for the next 10-12 years.
It's people like you that blindly defend his every action and thought that have made me hate the guy in the first place really. |
Bret Hart was a great in-ring performer but a mediocre promo man at best and a baby backstage. There's no way I could justify voting for him over Dibiase.
|
Quote:
But I still like Bret Hart's body of work as a whole throughout his career. OMG!! Does that make me a blind Hart mark? Nope. It's the extreme Bret Hart marks and people like you that make many forms of discussion concerning anything related to Bret Hart, Montreal, or even HBK fucking impossible on here. |
Quote:
|
For not being a stupid Hart mark you sure jumped to his defense with 3 paragraphs of rubbish at the very mention of me claiming that I didn't like him.
I'm not even terribly against him THAT much. The guy just spent a decade bitching about something that he did to himself. You don't see how people could get pretty disgusted by that? |
I just want DiBiase in the HOF.
|
Quote:
If I got disgusted by wrestlers bitching about things in the past, then besides not liking Bret Hart, I'd also not like Dynamite Kid, Ric Flair, Bruno Sammartino, Randy Savage, etc. |
I just wanted to tie it up.
|
He dedicated an entire decade of his life to dwelling on one event. An entire fucking decade and he's still going.
There's no arguing with you all about his anyway unless I have a couple days to waste. |
Yeah, pretty sick of the whole Montreal incident coming up everytime Brets name is mentioned.
DiBiase was good, but Bret was the much better wrestler and that won't change whether I like the guy or not. |
Quote:
|
This is why I could never vote for Bret. Let's go 56 pages about Montreal! LET'S GO!

Hey guys just a thought: Montreal has absolutely nothing to do with Bret Hart's wrestling ability.

I happen to think Bret's been a big baby about the whole thing, and he's just as responsible for the screwjob as anyone.
That being said, Bret/Piper, Bret/Owen, Bret/Bulldog, Bret/HBK, and Bret/Austin are some of the greatest matches in wrestling history and better than anything Dibiase has put out there. |
Bret Hart by a long shot......
|
Bret Hart. And what the fuck is the matter with you, Narcissus?

Bret Hart all the way. Funny how all you HBK marks on the forum whine about hating Bret yet your "hero" is the one who cries and loses his smile.

Do you split the world to Hart marks and HBK marks? Can't you just fucking understand that some people might be tired of the same old bullshit for years? I'm sick of hearing about Hart and sick of watching him because of all the fucking bitching on the internet. I used to enjoy his matches but for fuck's sake. |
Quote:
Oh yeah, and isn't it funny how the first person to bring up the screwjob and montreal in this thread was the guy who is sick and tired about hearing of it. Yeah, it is. |
Quote:
How am I defending Vince? I think the whole screwjob in Taker vs Punk match was one of the stupidest things I've seen in wrestling lately. I am really, really fed up with the original Montreal Screwjob shit. It's not me who should let it go. |
Read the fucking thread before you post stupid shit. As you can clearly see it was rednoeja that brought it up, not me.

Central Europe. Poland to be exact.

Bret gets my vote. I don't care what he did outside the ring, or what he continues to do.... but I can honestly say that he provided me with some of my favourite wrestling memories and matches inside the ring.
|
Very tough vote, you have on one side a wrestler that never won the big title in the WWF but at the same time probably is one of the best heels of all time. On the other side you have a wrestler that made wrestling into a feud between the USA and Canada and was a good wrestler with almost anyone as his opponent.
As much as I would like to vote for the Million Dollar Man, he never managed to be involved in a feud that got 2 countries to "hate" each other in a wrestling sense. |
Oh god. You know if Bret wins this Shawn Michaels wil rear his ugly head in the finals. Wait for a fucking explosion.

I'm not sure what your deal is, Narc, but you're sure coming off as a pretentious douche bag here. I know you're better than that. Stop being a faggot. That said, Bret Hart gets my vote here because I'm a blind mark for him. |

Well, I hate what he did to his own Legacy most of all. I used to love Bret Hart as a kid. His ego, his bitterness, and his inability to let anything go really just ruined him for me. I suppose I was being a shithead with the whole brainwashing deal. You can like who you like. I personally just can't cheer a guy that had everything in the world working for him and just ruined it all because he couldn't keep one day from rewinding a thousand times in his head.
This isn't up for argument, btw. Just how I feel about Montreal and Bret Hart. |
I'm pretty sure what 'ruined it all' was mostly a misplaced kicked to the head followed by a stroke. Why hasn't Bret talked about anything besides Montreal? Maybe because that was the last thing of note in his otherwise illustrious career. What the fuck else is there to talk about? His U.S. title run? Wrestling left a bitter taste in his mouth, and nobody wants to talk to him about anything but wrestling. I know 9-11 happened 8 years ago, but are you sick of people bitching about that too?
|

He himself made Montreal the first thing people think about when they think of Bret Hart. Nobody else.
I can watch old tapes of Hart and freak out for him but it all ruins it if I read about him now or watch one of his 10,000 interviews bitching about Montreal. Just personally why I didn't vote for him. |
I highly doubt Bret Hart goes around bitching to people in his everyday life about Montreal. The only comments we ever hear from him are wrestling-related (for pretty obvious reason). Moreover, he has apparently recently said he's open to working with WWE. If there's any truth to that, he's over it anyway.
|
It only took him 12 years.
|
No other match in HISTORY had ever ended that way. Since then, the only match to end that way again was in PARODY of that one. It was actually a pretty monumental moment in wrestling history. I'm not saying that Bret was right or wrong for not wanting to job in Montreal, but the way that Vince handled the situation sort of broke down a wall in the way everybody viewed wrestling. We all KNEW it was pre-determined and we KNEW there were politics, but it had NEVER spilled over into an actual show. Pretty big deal, if you ask me.
|
I've said all I'm gonna say on this. 12 pages is unneccesary. Thrilla, I say we all calm down for a second and love each other. You should be in a wonderful mood. The Bengals beat the Browns in OT.
|
I'm calm. I just think you were being a huge faggot for no reason and it needed to be addressed. That doesn't make me love you any less.
Also, the Bengals were SUPPOSED to beat the Browns by about 900 points. As for the actual thread premise, Bret was pretty much my hero as a child. So was the Ultimate Warrior. Looking back at matches now, the Warrior was pretty terrible. Bret's quality is still there after all this time. DiBiase had some great moments and was a fantastic heel. He made a stable with an extremely washed up Nikolai Volkoff work. Bret was just featured in so many more high-profile matches, though. |
I can understand the appeal of Bret Hart and I can understand why his fans back him up so passionately. I'm very stubborn about my wrestling as well. There's not a man alive that could convince me that Randy Savage is not the greatest professional wrestler that ever lived. Different perspectives.
|
Savage is definitely up there. Gotta get him in the Hall of Fame here too.

Bret Hart for me.

Bret has had some of the most memorable matches in history. Someone else already noted Piper, Davey Boy, Austin, Owen, Iron Man match.... that cannot be touched. They remain classic matches because they were brilliant then, and would be as well regarded if they had occured last week. They opitomise wrestling, in my opinion.
Other thing to remember is that Bulldog and Austin never had a better match with anybody. Bret made both guys with those matches. Plus, everyone knows Bret called the shots for the Bulldog match pretty much entirely, which means he wrote that dance all by himself. Piper, that was the last good match of his career and the first in a few years when it happened. this cannot all be coincidently with the same wrestler. There is no doubting the strength of MDM's gimmick. It was one of the best ideas for a wrestling heel gimmick, along with Mr Perfect... ever. And Dibiase was brilliant in the role. Plus, you can never say anything bad about about his in-ring skill. He was consistant, and technically sound. But how many matches can anybody really remember, and if you can, how many of them do you rate as some of the best of all time? I think you can see where I will be putting my vote. Everyone knows Bret was Jaded to the business, particulally in his main event days, in no part helped by his crazy family... And everyone SHOULD know he was wrong to refuse the job. But Anybody Thrilla hit it on the nose, where we only hear about Bret mentioning the Montreal deal because he keeps getting asked about it, and his response is always more sensationalised than anything else he mentioned. He, by all accounts was screwed in public. But had he agreed to do as he was booked, then none of this would have occured... All this aside, other than that one night, does it really effect his impression on camera? And OK, his WCW was lacklustre in comparison to his WWF days, but was Dibiase's any better? I don't see where Ted holds any ground in this contest. |

Voters: 69.

Why did it have to be Bret this round. :( I really wanted The Million Dollar Man to be inducted to the HOF.
Bret is one of the few that I'll have to take over Dibiase. Despite the strong polar opposite positions which some take regarding Bret, there is no questioning his in ring performance, technical ability, and his memorable matches. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/btS0OVdqkb0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/btS0OVdqkb0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
wow, another job Bret refused to do.
|
DiBiase was great, but no where near Bret's league.
|
DiBiase - would make many/most/my own top 25 wrestlers list.
Bret - would make many/most/my own top 10 wrestlers list. Bret. |
Bret, you fucking asshole, you ruined this for DiBiase.
|
I gave Ted my price. He couldn't afford.
so Bret gets my vote |
Bret Screwed Ted
