Your Mount Rushmore of Wrestling

**For those of you that do not live in the United States Mount Rushmore is a mountain in South Dakota in which we Americans decided to honor nature by carving a bunch of our dead presidents into it. These presidents are supposedly supposed to be out best and brightest presidents in our history at the time of its carving (from 1927 to 1941).**

Now that I got that bit of information out of the way, what I want to know is what is each of your personal Mount Rushmore of Wrestling. That is the four men or women in the wrestling industry that most make you, or made you love wrestling. You can have only four, no more, no less.

Here's mine...

You know if you try to fit 5 in 4 spots, Owen's just gonna fall over the edge.

muffalufagus 10-11-2009 04:00 AM

Vince, Flair, HBK, Foley

Jannettyzilla 10-11-2009 04:00 AM

In serious, my answer is Hogan, Savage, Rock, Foley.

Jordan 10-11-2009 04:02 AM

Flair/Hogan/Rock/Austin

XL 10-11-2009 05:02 AM

I think you kinda have to have Vince in there. Same for Hogan and Austin. Rock, HBK, Bret, Taker, etc are interchangable.

In terms of inring though I'd go with Benoit, HBK, Angle & Bret (probably).

Paul Heyman
The Rock
CM Punk
HBK

Xero 10-11-2009 12:00 PM

Vince McMahon
Austin
Undertaker
Jericho

Xero 10-11-2009 12:01 PM

Now, a more "realistic" one, I'd go with Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman and Hulk Hogan.

Those are the three largest influences the business has seen in the last thirty years. MAYBE replace one with Gorgeous George. (The original pretty boy, not the whore.)

Sixx 10-11-2009 12:04 PM

Spirit Squad! Just kill whichever one, they all looked the same.

You might be missing the point.

I'm really asking for your 4 favorite wrestling personalities.

Obviously if you were to ask what the true Mount Rushmore of Wrestling (four our generation) was it would have some combination of Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and The Rock.

But that's besides the point, what I want to know is your 4 favorite.

Sixx 10-11-2009 12:13 PM

Then calling it Mount Rushmore makes no sense anymore, does it?

These presidents are supposedly supposed to be out best and brightest presidents in our history at the time of its carving

It's not like the guys carving it picked their favourites.

That's why I used the qualifier of "Your."

Theo Dious 10-11-2009 12:33 PM

Vince, Undertaker, Austin, Michaels

PapaGeorgio 10-11-2009 12:36 PM

Hogan and Vince have to be on it, love it or hate it they are the faces of wrestling. The other two become a bit more debatable. While there are many great wrestlers our there, it's hard to pick just two. When you look at the likes of Hart, Taker, Shawn, Flair etc solid arguments can be made for just about all of them. I do think either Austin or The Rock should represent the Attitude era, but only one should make it. So after Vince, Hogan, Austin/Rock, I guess I'd toss up Flair.

redoneja 10-11-2009 02:02 PM

Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Randy Savage, The Undertaker

Honorable mentions go to: Jake Roberts, Shawn Michaels, Raven, Chris Beniot

Testicle 10-11-2009 02:22 PM

:y:

Can't argue with this.

Kapoutman 10-11-2009 02:41 PM

Bret
Owen
HBK
Austin

And I want to make sure that Bret and HBK are carved next to each others.

Most people here weren't watching when he was a big draw in the 70's through the mid 80's. Besides, anyone that was a WWF fan as a kid past '84 probably was more into Hogan than Andre.

Also, he wasn't all that good, especially in his final performing years. As fond as I am/was of Andre, I think people overblow his legacy because of the fact he was a draw, the road stories, one of the first 'monsters' and WrestleMania III. A great character from wrestling history? For sure. In the same league as Vince, Hogan, Austin, Flair etc? Nah.

Apparently he wasn't even that much of a draw, in the long term. That's why he travelled so much and came in for one-shots rather than long tenures... Andre was a great draw for a one-off battle royal or match but promoters didn't know how to book him for a long period and his drawing power waned the longer he was around.

I'm not saying that's neccessarily true, but I've heard a few people in the business say it. Even during his biggest "TV years" (heel turn WWF) he had the one massive PPV, the one massive network TV rating and for the most part treaded water as the resident midcard legend/monster thereafter. He was certainly a fucking awful wrestler for the last decade of his life.

Possibly the business' biggest household name prior to the rise of Hogan, but top 4 most important names in the biz? I don't think Andre should be there.

Anyway the point of the thread is YOUR personal top 4 men who most influenced YOU and made you love wrestling... Steve fuckin' Lombardi could be on there if you wanted. Therefore, despite those great entertainers who have come along since, I'm going to have to plump for four guys who really got me hooked on the wrestling when I first started watching. So:

Yep, sounds about right, I Like the Loose Cannon thinks

I don't understand why WCW didn't use Bret Hart with the Anvil and Davey in WCW and throw in Benoit and or Storm, or why they didn't team Benoit with Davey...

It's to bad we never got to see "The Canadian Bulldogs" which could have been Harry Smith and Benoit...

Wasn't Jericho still their (but on his way out)
