TNA Gets Nigel??????

As noted earlier, former Ring of Honor Champion Nigel McGuinness is backstage at the TNA iMPACT! Zone in Orlando, FL for tonight’s taping. Although Ring of Honor recently issued a statement that McGuiness had “agreed in principle” to a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, he has opted to sign with TNA instead and is expected to debut at tonight’s tapings. Nigel is expected to get a new ring name in TNA Wrestling. WWE apparently dragged its feet on signing the duo, so TNA swooped in and signed Nigel. Danielson very well could be next although we do not have that confirmed just yet.

Xero 10-20-2009 03:51 PM

Wow. Swerve.

Chavo Classic 10-20-2009 03:52 PM

Nah, sounds too dramatic. I'll believe it when I see it.

kareru 10-20-2009 03:53 PM

getting them both would be awesome

AJHayes 10-20-2009 03:55 PM

Shut up taker707.

Also, quote your source:

"From Ryan "D-Bag" Clarke who stole it from another site while giving no credit.."

The Jayman 10-20-2009 03:56 PM

lol..."WWE dragging its feet"

Shadow 10-20-2009 03:59 PM

Geee...how could this happen?

Ermaximus 10-20-2009 04:05 PM

Still won't make me wanna watch TNA. No offense.

Nicky Fives 10-20-2009 04:07 PM

meh... indifferent

Waylander 10-20-2009 04:32 PM

I sincerely hope this isn't true, I don't want them to go there. I don't want to have to watch TNA. I was actually looking forward to seeing how they would perform in the WWE (not at first but the idea grew on me) now they'll have pointless matches with pointless endings with neither of them receiving a consistent push.

more than likely that would have been the fate if they went to WWE.

Swiss Ultimate 10-20-2009 04:47 PM

If TNA stole a booker that I enjoy...I think I'd care more.

Slappy3000 10-20-2009 04:51 PM

Definitely a shocking and exciting turn of events . . .

GD 10-20-2009 05:08 PM

Who the fuck else is backstage at the Impact tapings

Fuck you Ryan Clark! :foc:

Supreme Olajuwon 10-20-2009 05:09 PM

I was.

Swiss Ultimate 10-20-2009 05:10 PM

Kurt Angle

Tazz Dan 10-20-2009 05:10 PM

I'm pretty sure Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were there also. :y:

Loose Cannon 10-20-2009 05:13 PM

Aye sometimes the company will change their mind or be petty for no reason but it's hard to deny that they know how to build a superstar when they really want to.

Nicky Fives 10-20-2009 05:53 PM

unfortunately, Vince Russo is still there :'(

Fabien Barthez 10-20-2009 05:59 PM

Russo is making TNA worth watching.

I still don't watch it, but this is what I'm hearing.

mike adamle 10-20-2009 06:12 PM

James Storm.

Swiss Ultimate 10-20-2009 06:38 PM

Jeff Hardy

Outsider 10-20-2009 06:48 PM

So, TNA, which is going to be shown on free TV over here, is getting some good new talent.

Good times for Outsider.

DarKCentaur 10-20-2009 07:27 PM

Now you've gone too far!!

Triple Naitch 10-20-2009 07:28 PM

Pretty bummed about this news. Hope Danielson doesn't follow suit.

TNA is really more of a small pile of shitty cocks in the dismembered genitalia that is the wrestling industry today

Triple Naitch 10-20-2009 07:28 PM

GODDAMMIT TAKER707!!!!!!!

Lock Jaw 10-20-2009 08:40 PM

So Nigel's new name is "Desmond Wolf".

Triple Naitch 10-20-2009 08:44 PM

Lol, what an awful name. I bet his theme music begins with a howling noise.

Xero 10-20-2009 08:48 PM

They'll probably just give him Nash's knock off of the Wolf Pac theme.

mike adamle 10-20-2009 08:49 PM

He could possibly feud with Kurt, I could care less what his name is.

Mr. Nerfect 10-20-2009 10:16 PM

He is feuding with Kurt Angle, apparently. He attacked Angle backstage. I would have personally preferred Nigel to sign with the WWE, but McGuinness is doing what he wants to do. Getting a feud out the gate with Kurt Angle, even with a name like Desmond Wolf, is nothing bad for a guy's career.

Bryan Danielson is unlikely to follow suit, in my opinion. He's got Shawn Michaels and William Regal in the WWE to watch over him. Both HBK and Regal have really good relationships with Triple H. As such, Danielson could find himself a favourite.

Seriously.

Ugh, this blows. I love Nigel. I might actually have to turn on TNA and see how it goes, but, I doubt I'll watch it much.

It's not as good as Nigel McGuinness, but I think Desmond Wolf is a pretty badass sounding name.

redoneja 10-20-2009 11:23 PM

Dunno if it means anything or is just a typo but the Impact spoilers on the TPWW main page say that Nigel debuted as "Wolf Desmond" instead of Desmond Wolf. The spoilers are credited as being from PWInsider.

The Show Off 10-20-2009 11:23 PM

I read the spoilers for the next Impact, I'm psyched, sounds like a good show.

TNA has been my favorite wrestling show for a solid two or three months.

I saw it written both ways...

Wolf Desmond would be a terrible name, but Desmond Wolf would be awesome. Funny how that works out.

Yea I saw it as "Desmond Wolf" in pre-taping spoilers but only saw him called "Wolf Desmond" in the ones on the main page that are ripped off of PWI. Maybe it'll be a wolf gimmick and every time a taping or PPV is on a full moon, he'll go berserk and decimate his opponents.

RGWhat316 10-20-2009 11:33 PM

Well I am shocked to hear about Nigel going to TNA instead, but judging by the spoilers, it could be an interesting thing to see. Especially if he is going to feud with Angle from the very beginning. But this is likely more stupidness on Vinces part. So if I were him, I would make sure Danielson is signed and get him to tv ASAP.

Fabien Barthez 10-20-2009 11:37 PM

Desmond Wolf?

You must be fucking joking.

Steveviscious89 10-20-2009 11:47 PM

Sounds to me like some of you here wouldn't watch TNA no matter what happened. Like, if every wrestler known to man signed with TNA, you would still watch a matchless WWE and continue to drool over Vince MacMahon's continued failure to ressurrect the business. Sounds foolish to me....

Mr. Nerfect 10-21-2009 12:38 AM

Desmond Wolf sounds better, but Wolf Desmond would be better if he was called "Wolfgang Desmond," and he was put over as wrestling's Mozart.

The Kurt Angle vs. Wolfgang match will be worth this. After the iMPACT! spoilers, it seems likely that the card will feature (highlight to read):

Three-Way Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
AJ Styles (c) vs. Daniels vs. Samoa Joe

TNA World Tag Team Championship
The British Invasion (c) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns

Kurt Angle vs. Amadeus Desmond

Scott Steiner vs. Bobby Lashley

TNA Legends Championship
Eric Young (c) vs. Kevin Nash

IWGP World Tag Team Championship
Team 3D (c) vs. Rhino & TBD

TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship
Wild Senioritas (c) vs. The Beautiful People

blake639raw 10-21-2009 12:48 AM

Goddamn, TNA is starting to look really good potentially. I'm definately watching this Thursday.

Mr. Nerfect 10-21-2009 12:53 AM

I'm glad TNA have gotten their heads out of their asses. Now if only Samoa Joe loses the crappy make-up and attire.

Well, I wouldn't say they completely got their head out of their asses yet, but I like the way things have been going, and they definately have my attention right now. They seem to be pushing AJ, Morgan, Hernandez, Homicide, Joe, Young, Beer Money, ect., while getting rid of some of the older guard.

KIRA 10-21-2009 10:51 AM

Think danielson may have all the connects that made orton one of THE top superstars in the company so Danielson is safer than safe

Nigel on the other hand I think he made the right move, while TNA blows it half the time they give talent that would otherwise be religatied to midcard status in the WWE a chance to shine. I honestly saw WWE wasting Nigel then releasing him so I think he made the right move. Not too keen on the name though

Mr. Nerfect 10-21-2009 11:42 AM

I'm not too sure how the WWE will react to this, but bridges are often mended. If McGuinness becomes a top star in TNA, when his contract expires, it might carry over. Might.

But wasn't Danielson already signed to a WWE deal? I remember reading that McGuinness' wasn't set in stone, but I always understood it that Danielson was signed and done? The one thing that Danielson could gain by going to TNA, is that they would absolutely love him for it, and he'd probably be treated as well as McGuinness seems to be out the gate, or even better. And even moreso than Nigel, he'd probably be welcomed to the WWE with open arms when he agreed to eventually sign with them.

kareru 10-21-2009 12:16 PM

and to top it all off now booker t is going

Innovator 10-21-2009 12:19 PM

WWE I guess took their deal off the table when they saw Nigel's physical. Probably something to do with the amount of injuries hes had.

Good for TNA to grab Nigel, hell of a wrestler

kareru 10-21-2009 12:23 PM

you know nigel has been in tna before

Being in the Gauntlet for the gold back in August of 2004, and wrestling in the Genesis 2005 preshow is hardly with TNA.

I so read that as "Dyking it out," then reread it.

I need more sleep. :(

Apparently Desmond Wolf was Nigel's creation.

I still stand by liking the name. But a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

What Would Kevin Do? 10-21-2009 11:33 PM

PWInsider.com & TNAWrestlingNews.com
It is believed that Nigel McGuinness signed a two-year deal with TNA. TNAWrestlingNews.com is reporting that McGuinness approached TNA about working out a deal when WWE decided to pull its previous offer after he failed a prescreening procedure. McGuinness’ prescreening reportedly turned up several injury issues. The screening led to WWE backing off on their interest in signing him. This reportedly happened 5-6 days ago, and McGuinness was instructed to keep quiet when asked about his WWE status. It should be noted that he suffered two torn biceps and a pair of concussions during his time in Ring of Honor.
TNA had attempted to sign McGuinness in the past, but he had originally agreed to a new deal with ROH and TNA instead hired Doug Williams. TNAWrestlingNews.com reports that TNA president Dixie Carter is also a big fan of McGuinness and has been for quite some time.
We’re also told that his new ring name in TNA, Desmond Wolf, was something he came up with and the new doctrine in TNA is to use new names so they can trademark them. This was done so that he could keep the McGuinness name and so TNA could trademark the new name.
ROH officials did not know that McGuinness signed with TNA until he showed up in Orlando yesterday.

If that's true, it's shitty, but it's understandable. I feel horrible for NIgel though, figuring he busted his ass to go out there, and the injuries he got while doing it may have fucked him over from getting in the big league.

Skippord 10-22-2009 07:01 AM

Impact! Spoilers

Angle vs. Desmond Wolf
Hebner stops the match after Angle is knocked out by a vicious clothesline from Wolf. They put Angle on a backboard and stretcher him out.

Skippord 10-22-2009 07:01 AM

highlight that post

Hell, WWE keeps Batista around. So it kinda sucks being a little injury prone has hurt his chances.

The Mackem 10-22-2009 07:11 AM

Does the British invasion still exist in TNA?

The Jayman 10-22-2009 08:15 AM

yes

The Mackem 10-22-2009 08:24 AM

They have too many Brits, they can't have a brit outside the British Invasion...it will confuse everybody.

The Jayman 10-22-2009 08:35 AM

He can join World Elite

1,000th post

Mr. Nerfect 10-22-2009 12:01 PM

Eric Young could have made his big announcement that Desmond Wolf would be joining World Elite, and going after the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. I would have enjoyed that, at least.

Indifferent Clox 10-22-2009 08:42 PM

I hear he is

SPOILER: show
doing a tower of london off the top to kurt tonight

I haven't been this legit excited for a wrestling show on tv, that wasn't ROH in a long time,

redoneja 10-22-2009 08:54 PM

Can't read what you posted as spoilers IC cause I'm browsing on my iPhone but I definitely looking forward to tonight AND next week's Impact based on the spoilers I've read. I'm not a Nigel or ROH fanboy but the program he's going into looks really interesting.
