Tekken
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...r_Tekken_1.jpg
* John Foo as Jin Kazama * Ian Anthony Dale as Kazuya Mishima * Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi Mishima * Kelly Overton as Christie Monteiro * Luke Goss as Steve Fox * Cung Le as Marshall Law * Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury * Candice Hillebrand as Nina Williams * Marian Zapico as Anna Williams * Darrin Dewitt Henson as Raven * Nathan Jones as Craig Marduk * Lateef Crowder as Eddy Gordo * Tamlyn Tomita as Jun Kazama * Gary Ray Stearns as Yoshimitsu * Anton Kasabov as Sergei Dragunov * Jae Hee as Hwoarang Pretty sure there was a thread about this but whatever, I can't find it. Okay cast, the production looks good. But there has to be some reason the project fell off the radar... |
I'm going to see this, hope it'll be good, or better.
Cast looks good. They got some people who have martial arts background. The only thing I'm worried about is the direction, use of characters and story.
Dragonball and SF failed at the start because of the people they casted on top of everything else. I think this has potential to be good. |

And Christie's Brazilian but let's give it a chance. lol
I can definitely see Luke Goss as Steve Fox. He just needs the long hair. John Foo as Jin is good. Eddy Gordo is basically Lateef Crowder and I heard Craig Marduk is based on Nathan Jones. I think Gary Daniels could be Bryan Fury. Im too lazy to check the rest but my only gripe is Sonny Chiba should be Heihachi.
Well there are many Brazilians who are not so dark at all and the girl playing Christie is hot but I think Adriana Lima would fit better. Even just to have her grace the big screen. :$
Jessica Lucas should have been Christie. :foc:

I wonder if he knows he's doing another evil boss character from a fighting game.
Also, aren't these the same cast names I posted a while back, that someone said was bullshit?
And why is drugonov in this? Seems like too many characters. That could make it MK Annihilation all over again. |
The cast you posted had some wrong names. I was the one who said, "check your sources." We settled it a page later.
I also heard Roger Huerta as Miguel.
You may be right, he is in the movie.
Which is funny, considering that:
a. Miguel is a matador b. Huerta's Nickname is "El Matador" |
They're probably playing that up. I kinda like the cast.
Yeah let's hope they don't fux it up.
Too many characters. Gonna be a clusterfuck, I just know it.
As long as they don't put emphasis on the wrong character, we should be ok. (I'm looking at YOU, Street Fighter.)
Yeah Huerta is Miguel in this...
Also really hope King is in this |
I hope the fight scenes are boss. There's some solid martial arts pedigrees in there, though.
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa:
Is it his role in life to play the main boss from all computer games? |
IGN seen a promo-trailer (think of it as a demo reel for potential distributors) and they say it's actually looking nice. Keep in mind this is IGN, whose thoughts are especially suspect. Still, it's good buzz.
...I already know it'll never get a perfect score from me after the fact since Jessica Lucas is not Christie (who makes out with Jin in the film, sorry Ling!). |
They shot most of this in Louisiana..

Cause I can find none on imdb. |
He was Shang Tsung in mortal kombat.
But main point is, guy looks like he was born evil. Like he came out of the womb and said to the docter, "YOUR SOUL IS MINE!" and then melted his face. |
That actually looks cool.
I want a trailer, dammit.
so, no King?
No.
King would be kinda weird in live action.
Could of sworn that King had a small (tiny) roll in the film...

Oh Hell Yeah
OMG, bullshit taglines, unknowns all around, typical bullshit soundtrack, crap dialogue, as well as those 'VS' graphics - looks like a meaner version of DOA. No thanks. Can already tell it won't be as good as Mortal Kombat, and yeah, I am comparing it.
Actually looks fun. I'll watch.
I could do better.
Seems fun
It feels like The Quest to me, I like everything I see. Still mad that some white chick is Christie. Dania Remirez (or Jessica Lucas) could have been picture perfect Christies. Other than that (and Steve Fox as a mentor?) everyone looks nice and authentic.

Yeah the dialogue and story looks tacky as hell, but it's a martial arts movie. That stuff should come second to fight coreogrophy. Which actually looks pretty good so far. I've seen a few of these "no-names" in other martial-arts films and they can definitely put on some awesome fight scenes. Better than whats in mortal kombat, surely. |
I actually don't mind weapons being in this. I really should be.
they lost me by not having King
Hard to be excited for any other martial arts movie with raging phoenix on the way.
Chinese Drunken Style vs Drunken Muay Thai!
It's going to be shit. Deal with it.
Phoenix looks like a good brawl, sir.

I'm on Team Jaa. Fucker's a beast. And now he knows Kung Fu.
I remember in chocolate when Jeeja did like this mule kick thing and caught a guy's punch between her thigh and calf. Pretty much that moment started my indecision.
I think Brenda Song should do serious martial arts roles. I saw Wendy Wu in it's entirety yesterday and the action's legit... for a Disney TV movie. And there's some legit dialogue, too.
I actually saw that movie myself, I hear there making a second one too. Surprised that the blue Ninja Storm Power Ranger was in that too(for a short time anyway).
The New Zealand studio formally in charge of all the Disney Power Rangers had a hand in Wendy Wu so seeing Tori in there made sense, though she didn't have an action role. If they're doing a second one I'm hype about that.
This film looks good in the way that it'll be a huge flop commercially, but I will still enjoy watching it.
Kinda like those threads where it says 'films you like that no one else does'. |
I'm pretty much happy with the production so far. It's not like Tekken could be adapted into something groundbreaking. I suppose you can craft a meaningful film about what is essentially a story about three generations of men at war with each other... BUT LOOK AT WHAT NINA WILLIAMS IS WEARING.
A cheesy looking reproduction of her videogame outfit?
Yeah, whole thing looks tacky as hell. Like I said though, I don't care, as long as the fight scenes are good. |
Ahahahahaha OMG those pics are so fucking ridiculous. This could actually be worse than DOA and Street Fighter.
DOA's actually a fun movie that doesn't take itself nearly as serious as Chun Li's movie. I reckon Tekken will end up somewhere between DOA and Mortal Kombat. I'm hoping it's as good as Mortal Kombat, and it's too much to expect it to be superior.
I love Nina's costume and still hate a white bitch Christie.
Jessica Lucas = Christie http://www.tvovermind.com/wp-content...-07/1x07_2.jpghttp://images.ientrymail.com/goodpst...e/picture1.jpg In a better world. |
Wow, I didn't think they'd try that for the poster.

Oh.
Would someone mind taking the time to do a actor to character to videogame likeness for me? I am really struggling to place most of these characters in the games!?
Side by side comparisons?
If that's not too much work.
Do you realize who you are asking this from?

lol it's straight to dvd now?
Yes. Whatever gets it in my hands quicker. More movies should be this honest, imo.

I would expect a movie based off a popular videogame franchise to be in theaters.
Additionaly, if Legend of Chun Li can get a theatrical release, anything can. |
Just watched the sample vid. Looks a bit iffy but I'm gonna download it and post my thoughts after I've watched it.
Tacky and cheesy. Too "video gamey" at times. Anna and Nina are mostly just eye candy. Luke Goss was wasted. Nothing about this movie was right but Christie is sex on legs.
It's too video gamey?!?
like DOA maybe? That was extremely "videogamey", what with being a shitty movie based on a game.
DOA was fun, sir.
Too "video-gamey" like DOA but with a different atmosphere. DOA was fun actually especially since I didn't expect anything from it. That had a more upbeat tone while this movie tries to be so serious.
Movie is mostly about Jin, his mom and the Mishima boys. They tried to sum up everybody in a few minutes so no one else had their character built up or had their back story delved into at all. I could list more than a dozen things I felt was wrong with the movie but I'm not gonna. I don't expect much from any video game based movie but years of anticipating a Tekken movie I thought they'd actually make one better than this. It's pretty hard to do a tournament style movie based on a video game that works with the exception of MK so I can't fault them that much. |
How are the fight scenes?
They are not bad but nothing special about it. John Foo and Lateef (Gordo) are talented martial artists and watching them is enjoyable. There's too much camera movement and it's too flashy for my tastes though. Also they have the old "hero is outmatched and doesn't stand a chance at first but in the end has the heart to beat his opponent" shtick. Some fights are short and lacking. It's like the first time I watched a movie with fights where it makes me not care about the fighting.

July 19th. Still nerd-raging over Christie's casting. |
Was this ever even in theaters? I don't remember seeing it anywhere but on this forum.
July 19th? I saw this in a second hand store today.
Just looked it up. We got it May 2nd. How lucky for us.
This sucked.
