RIP Eddie 'Umaga' Fatu
Edward Fatu, 36, is hospitalized in Houston and in what was described as life threatening condition by a long-time friend.
His family was told to come into town as quickly as possible. Details are sketchy at this point but he apparently fell asleep last night while watching television, and several hours later, his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose and he was rushed to the hospital. |
Wow, sucks. Don't do drugs.
|
God damn it, this is awful. I just met the guy back in May. :(
I'm going to a local wrestling show tonight with Rosey on the card (now RO-Z). I wonder if he's even going to compete now. RIP Umaga. |
Okay, now it seems some fool published this 'report' early
|
Yeah I can't find a report confirming this.
|
fuck.
|
PWTorch have now removed the article...
|
Can't find anything anywhere to support this.
It's been added to his Wikipedia article but the PW Torch link in the citation is a 404. |
if this is another daniel pena scandal I'm going to hunt his little ass down.
|
Yeah hoping this is fake.
|
I cant find anything confirming it.
|
Yeah, was just looking around and the only thing that checks out so far is Kennedy's Twitter.
I'll hope for the best until I hear otherwise. |

Ryan Clark says he's in the hospital and in bad shape, but it's fucking Ryan Clark.
|
On the PWTorch app, the article is still up.
|
They just took it off the app.

Not good. Not good at all.
|
C'mon Umaga :(
|
damn say it ain't so

Blue Meanie:
"...keeping Umaga in his thoughts. He has been reported as passing BUT he is still alive and in very serious condition. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts." Val Venis: "...praying for my friend Eddie Fatu and his family. I just spent the last 2 weeks with Eddie in Australia and I am currently shocked and saddened by this news. I cannot believe this is happening again" |
Wow, this is shocking to hear. I hope he pulls through.
|
I hope Umaga pulls through this, I don't hearing this type of new about anyone.
|
Wow, this is horrible. :(
The sad thing is...given the apparent repeated drug test failures and WWE firing him for not attending rehab, I can't say I'm surprised. Really hope he pulls through. |
Bummer. Always liked the Umaga character.
But I'm with the majority, drugs are bad. Should have taken the rehab visit instead of leaving the WWE. Sad day. :( |
An eerie thing I just though of. If he does pass, I'm pretty sure his final match was in Hulk's Australia against Kennedy...Eddie Guerrero's final match was also with Kennedy. :(

He's off life support. :(
|
This sux Umaga had some of the most impressive offense since Kanyon retired.
|
:y: <---Here is my salute. If only the thumb was taped :(
|
Youmanga... :(
|
Shit
|
FUcking crazy the mortality rate of these guys.
I imagine this was a long time coming if he was fired for his drug issues. Very Sad. |
If he's dead....fucking hell.
Sucks so much cause he had such a bright and promising future. |
This is terrible news. :(
Apparently, his family were that he suffered a heart attack or something. I just hope he pulls through and makes a quick recovery. |
Come on, UMAGA, FIGHT THROUGH THIS!!!
|
Former WWE star Umaga (Eddie Fatu) was removed from life support earlier this afternoon, reports WWE announcer Jim Ross, who says he spoke with a friend of Fatu's family.
Fatu's official death is expected to be announced this evening. He was on life support at a North Houston hospital after his wife found him unresponsive this morning at his home in Spring, Texas. Fatu reportedly suffered a massive heart attack. We reported originally that Fatu was found bleeding from his mouth and nose when he was found in his home. :( |
Just hope he passes really soon so he doesn't suffer for days and days.
|
wwe just confirmed his passing
|
WWE is reporting Umaga has passed
WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing. Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name "Umaga." Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009. http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/12849630 |

Fuck. Another one gone.
RIP Eddie Fatu. |
Damn. R.I.P Eddie Fatu
|
RIP
|
Really sucks. Truly one of the better big men, his Royal Rumble match with John Cena was fantastic. Apparently he was in contact with WWE again recently.
|
Damn it. :'(
This totally sucks. He'll be missed. R.I.P |
damn...when i read earlier in the year that he was coming back to wwe, i was really excited to see him again. he was truly a badass.
R.I.P. Eddie Fatu |

Thats good WWE that you all mentioned on when you terminated Umaga's contract when he just died. Wouldn't want any bad press to get on your company or have people think that he died while employed with the company. What heartless, selfish assholes they are. |

It was an awesome match. I was pissed off when he lost. |
Meh...

fuck.
|
R.I.P. UMAGA
|
R.I.P. Umanga :(
|
No surprise really. This will likely get press coverage due to his involvement in the Trump storyline and Linda running for the Senate.
Cold but not a surprise. |
I can just hear the WWE spokes people now...
"No No, don't blame us for him dying, we fired him almost 6 months ago, June 11, 2009 to be exact." This is what kind of world we live in now. Sad. LONG LIVE THE SAMOAN BULLDOZER........ UUUUUUUUUMAGA!!!!!! |
:(
RIP Umaga |
It's just damage control, it's not like they don't wish his family well or anything
|
As a side note, how many more stigmas can Mr. Kennedy be labeled with? Son of a bitch cant get a break, first with the being injury prone thing, then being the last opponent of two wrestlers before they passed on.
I'd be shaken as hell if I were he. |
Damn, damn, damn. Totally sucks. Another one taken before his time :(
|
Umaga, you were in a headlining match and helped draw 80,000+ people in Detroit. Thats amazing. Rest in peace.
|
I know, they mean well, but they didn't have to write the date in there of when they fired him. He JUST died. Just now. Let a couple of days pass at least.
|
At least they aren't interviewing his wife and bringing up his drug use during the interview.
|
Well, I can see where you're coming form
|
Wonder if The Rock will speak publicly on him, I believe he and Umaga were cousins.

How is this inappropriate in the least? They're just saying that he wasn't currently working for the company.
|
I'm saying this is far from a new low. They've gone MUCH lower in the past.

RIP Eddie Fatu
|
The wording sucks, but I don't find it to be malicious at all. I suppose they could've said "Fatu last appeared in the WWE at the Extreme Rules PPV" or something, but I don't think they meant any harm by it.
Now if they have CM Punk come out next week and tell us that he tried to tell Umaga to stop doing drugs and now he's dead, then yeah, that would be in bad taste. |
Quote:
How about, "Umaga last performed with WWE until June of this year and was most recently on an independent wrestling tour of Australia, we send our condolences to his family." That would have been much more professional and compassionate. |
It's ridiculous that they felt that they had to add the actual date they might as well have taken it a step further and have Vince McMahon come out and say "I didn't do it he screwed himself!" it makes them look more guitly if anything.
|
Because the WWE doesn't work with the independent company and realistically anyone concerned about getting compassion from wwe.com probably has their head up their ass.
|
The guy has suffered enough embarrassment, they publicly announced his wellness policy suspensions and his release when it happened. I just thought that in his death that the notice they posted should have been 100% respectful and it wasn't.
|
:wavesad: Umaga/Eddie Fatu
Had a good run with the Umaga character and looked to be headed into a better position before he got cut from the WWE. |

Its good that Kurt pulled the wool over Vince's eyes though on that one because Vince deserved it. He screwed over so many other people. |
holy shit
wow |
Nevermind Vince or Kurt Angle right now.
Long Live UMAGA!!!!!! |
R.I.P Eddie "Umaga" Fatu.
|
They publicly announce everyone's wellness policy suspensions. You really aren't indicating to me how telling everyone that he didn't work there at the time of his death is disrespectful.
Also, it isn't really the WWE's fault they would put something like that up there. When a wrestler dies, who is the first person Nancy Graces calls. The WWE. Writing when he stopping working for the company is just answering a question everyone is already going to ask. |
They could have put his career information in a separate post on their site.
|
|
RIP. I'm gonna make a story on Smackdown vs Raw 2010 in his honor. Him running through people basically.
|
Juan, if you're still looking for threads to delete I nominate this one.
|
I remember actually marking out when him and Great Khali suddenly went at it in a match where they were both heels.
|
I really see no problem here.
WWE dumped Eddie Fatu cos he was a druggie. In fact, I think they sacked him cos he refused the help they offered him. He died (presumably) due to this reason. Why shouldn't they dissassociate themselves with the guy? Yeah it's sad that the guy has passed at a young age, but WWE/Vince tried to help him, they should not shoulder any blame here. In noting when he left the company they are distancing themselves. It would have been harse if the sentence read: Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name "Umaga." Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009 when he wouldn't accept our offer to help him through the drug addiction that no doubt played a part in his eventual death. |

R.I.P. Eddie Fatu. :(
Thoroughly enjoyed him as a performer, both as Jamal as well as Umaga. |
If WWE put a graphic of him in his memory, it should be of his scariest pose.
|
Goodbye, Samoan Bulldozer...we'll miss you and your patented Samoan Spike.:'(:wavesad:
