Bret Hart signs with WWE

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

According to a WWE source who would have full knowledge of the situation, Bret Hart has indeed signed a short-term talent contract with World Wrestling Entertainment,

The WWE Hall of Famer signed the this past week and it will cover the period from 1/1 to 4/10, or through WrestleMania and about two weeks after the 3/28 show at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.

Hart simply told a reliable source that he wasn’t going to lie about anything and thus wasn’t going to comment on this story.

It was said that Hart wanted his signing to be kept quiet and his return to be a surprise, but that WWE couldn’t help itself but all but announced it publicly on the first RAW after the ink was dry.

D Mac 12-16-2009 05:11 PM

The MAC should be very happy.

The Mackem 12-16-2009 05:13 PM

I am indeed

Heyman 12-16-2009 05:13 PM

I'm happy for Zen v.W.o.

I am also looking forward to this.

January 4th (his rumored date of appearance) just so happens to fall on my birthday.

Vincent Kennedy McMahon will inject the WWE with a LETHAL DOSE OF HITMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

D Mac 12-16-2009 05:14 PM

Question is, will he mention the screwjob?

HBPunk 12-16-2009 05:15 PM

I wonder will Bret finally stop whining now, when Bret and HBK/HHH are standing in the ring together for the first time its gonna be fucking awesome

LuigiD 12-16-2009 05:15 PM

I seriously doubt Bret would do anything related to Shawn. I could see him working alongside Vince, that's it.

The Mackem 12-16-2009 05:35 PM

It's where the money is so you would have to assume it will happen.

Depends on if Bret is over Shawn. And last time I've checked, he's not.

Oh if it happened, and Bret had Shawn in the Sharpshooter to open RAW, Dixie would be shitting her pants.

It'd be like Bischoff explaining when WWF got Tyson. "Woah... That's... That's good."

So VERY True... Money does speak volumes sometimes... You never know he could pull his own screwjob and have one over on Vinnie Mac.. Although I doubt it, probably in his contract not to pull anything...

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-16-2009 05:46 PM

That's sick if it's going to happen, but I shall reserve judgement until he actually is on my television set being the fucking hitman.

Xero 12-16-2009 05:48 PM

If this isn't for the 1/4 RAW they're making a HUGE mistake.

Xero 12-16-2009 05:50 PM

Yeah, that comment makes more sense now. To me it ALMOST seemed like Miller pulled it out of his ass and Vince tried to save it on the spot, but Vince is clearly going to be heeling Bret.

Blitz 12-16-2009 05:50 PM

Pretty amazing. Actually considering checking out WWE in the new year.

And the Rock to host the week after would be epic.

Xero 12-16-2009 05:58 PM

Nah, they shouldn't blow Rock on something like that. If they're going to use Rock, he has to either be the week before or the RAW after Mania, unless TNA does another Monday impact between 1/4 and then.

XCaliber 12-16-2009 06:18 PM

I'm very happy to hear this news but I have a feeling he will be relegated to SD after his guest host appearance on RAW but that'd be fine by me.

DaveWadding 12-16-2009 06:23 PM

Hart guest hosting/ Hall of Fame induction (which I would instantly buy a ticket for, BTW)/ Hart/Michaels WM26 = Epic Win

DaveWadding 12-16-2009 06:23 PM

...or just the 1st 2...whatever.

I have a feeling they're going to drop the ball with this just like they did with the NWO.

Juan 12-16-2009 07:10 PM

He has to be involved in that DX/Hart Dynasty feud that's gonna start soon.

redoneja 12-16-2009 07:11 PM

I posted in the Wrestlemania 26 thread a couple days ago about how I suspected the WWE would be pulling out all the stops for this years Mania, even more so than usual, due to stiff competition from a UFC PPV the night before and the Pacquiao/Mayweather two weeks after. This seems to be an early indication of just that. Not gonna get my hopes up too high though, I just want to see where this goes.

We don't even know if this is for appearing. There's a Hart Foundation DVD coming up, for all you know it's a likeness contract.

Juan 12-16-2009 09:14 PM

Well it's reportedly a 4 month contract, so if it were just a likeness contract, I'd imagine it'd be for longer than 4 months.

Yet you discuss The Rock vs John Cena which will not happen. Bret will be back cos hes probly broke as fuck, maybe he finally got over HBK either

It's "unlikely" but I still wouldn't put it past Vince to go medieval and have Rock host and Bret debut on the same show, and get the ball rolling on some huge Wrestlemania programs early

Xero 12-16-2009 09:21 PM

From PWInsider:

We have gotten some email concerning an internet story (I don't know where it came from or I would cite the source) saying that Bret Hart has signed a four month contract with WWE, which would make him available to appear on the 1/4 Raw against TNA Impact. I talked to one person in WWE who told me that he heard though company channels that Bret would be in through WrestleMania but couldn't confirm it 100%. I have talked to a few people in WWE that have told me that they are under the impression that after having his name mentioned on Raw this week, they are moving forward as if he is coming in to work with WWE. So, while I can't confirm the story, I can tell you that my gut feeling is that Bret is on his way in to WWE.

Bret Hart to WWE (Round 2)

I'm ONLY creating this because Juan closed the other and this topic is important.

From the Observer:

I don't know. He can either send DH Smith or Tyson Kidd as a surrogate. Kidd vs Michaels would be a great match, similar to what Michaels had with Benjamin a couple of years ago.

I still think it's interesting how the most knowledgeable posters on this forum (i.e. Loose Cannon, Rob, Zen v.W.o., 91 from back in the day, and The CyNick from back in the day) ALL AGREE that Bret Hart was a bigger star than Shawn Michaels.

Very interesting to say the very least.

Posters on here should take note of that.

Wait for it... wait for it...
This still is irrelevant do my interests.
I have gotten over a wrestler who I have not seen in action in over 10 years. I respect him, and seeing him as a potential guest host will be a great change of pace from all of the non-wrestling personas we have seen as guest hosts.

The Screwjob is huge for fans and insiders, but nobody else knows about it or ever gave a fuck. The Benoit story made a much bigger splash both in and out of the wrestling industry. Particularly the latter.

i dont think this has any truth to it. If it did vince would have kept it quiet and just dropped hints all the way.

If it is true and they go the guest host route it will be dissappointing. The need to turn DX heel first , have them align with Mr Mcmohan and beat the piss out of the hart dynasty for a few weeks to warrant the return of bret hart. Him just showinh up to guest host is pretty meh

Testicle 12-16-2009 11:27 PM

There were also rumors of the Rock showing up on the 1/4 Raw too. If he and Bret both get announced for Raw that week TNA isn't going to have a chance.
