"IMPACT ZONE" getting a new look

Ryan "Douche Bag" Clark

Over the last few weeks I’ve been hearing about a major overhaul of the TNA ‘iMPACT! Zone’ in Orlando, FL. I have been holding off on reporting anything until I could get further confirmation.

I’ve been told that Eric Bischoff’s production company is the contractor logged in to oversee the overhaul. TNA has to notify lease agents, insurers and park officials of any construction activities because they can interrupt the filming of other productions on the lot.

I would expect a brand new set to debut on the January 4th TNA iMPACT!. There are also rumors about the six-sided ring being replaced by a 20 x 20 ring although I can’t confirm that. I’ve sent off several emails and have not heard back just yet. Hulk Hogan has also said numerous times that he’s not a fan of the six-sided ring

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:10 PM

They need it

Xero 12-16-2009 09:13 PM

I'm indifferent about the possible ring change. I don't really care either way, I'd rather just see good matches and angles.

Shadow 12-16-2009 09:14 PM

Aww...getting rid of the 6 sided ring just makes then less unique.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-16-2009 09:15 PM

unique and different for the sake of being different aren't the same thing

Juan 12-16-2009 09:16 PM

Well TNA getting rid of that ring would be a step in the right direction. I'd be more inclined to watch.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 09:16 PM

Is his middle name seriously Douche Bag?

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:17 PM

six sides does make it look like a "gimmick ring"

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:18 PM

of course not it's Pussy

ron the dial 12-16-2009 09:19 PM

so 4 sides and 8 sides are all gold but 6 aren't? i don't get that. anyway, i would like to echo xero's sentiment in this thread.

Juan 12-16-2009 09:24 PM

UFC doesn't count. Wrestling rings should be 4 sides. That 6 sided ring is one of the main reasons I could never get into TNA.

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:24 PM

ok. UFC doesn't even look like 8 sides. it just looks like a circle

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:24 PM

I also agree with Juan. Siganme Los Buenos

ron the dial 12-16-2009 09:25 PM

meh seems like a ridiculous thing to concern yourself with. if the product in the ring is good, who gives a shit how many sides there are? not commenting on the quality of their product, just a general statement.

Juan 12-16-2009 09:26 PM

It's more of an OCD type thing. It just bugs the crap out of me.

Tazz Dan 12-16-2009 09:27 PM

Yeah. Can't stand the 6 sided ring. Gotta go with Juan, it turns me off watching more. :-\

Agreed... But If I had to choose, I'd stick with 4 sides...Irish whip moves will had a lot more whip to them...

Juan 12-16-2009 09:28 PM

I mean, the 6 sided ring isn't the ONLY reason I don't watch TNA, but it's a contributing factor.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 09:29 PM

Yes, the wrestling ring should be four sides. It's one of those things where they have always been four sides and there was no need to fix what wasn't broken. I think now they will have a much easier time aesthetically getting people to watch the show.

The Pope 12-16-2009 09:30 PM

The only reason they had six sides was because of the x division which they rarely use now, so why not make it a what Kevin Nash would say a " 2 sided ring"

Same here, id be a big fan by now if they fought in a wrestling ring

Xero 12-16-2009 09:33 PM

If anything, they can use the six sided ring for gimmick PPVs. I'd say, IF they're doing it, make Lockdown the only PPV with six sides of steel.

Steveviscious89 12-16-2009 10:34 PM

I like the idea of a set change. Changing the ring might make it better for me personally, as I am a fan of tradition. I worry about some of the guys who got use to the six sides having to make the switch, but I'm sure they can do it. I recall that TNA did not have the six sides until they made the move to Orlando.

Jeritron 12-16-2009 10:38 PM

I don't like the six sided ring because of changes it makes to the ring dimensions and some of the action.

For instance, irish whips. Jumps from the top rope, and just the overall distance from rope to rope.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 10:40 PM

I would hope they implement it into a storyline rather than just having the audience show up and think they're at ROH.

Innovator 12-16-2009 10:40 PM

I'm waiting for further confirmation....waiting for the Torch, Observer, or PWInsider to report it first

thedamndest 12-16-2009 10:42 PM

Yeah, we shouldn't get so wrapped up in Ryan "Douche Bag" Clark.

Xero 12-16-2009 10:43 PM

Think his friends call him D-Bag?

DaVe 12-16-2009 11:51 PM

xD

would be a good name

KIRA 12-16-2009 11:54 PM

OK Ive been hearing this complaint forever

What does everybody have against the 6-sided ring personally I never cared how many sides it had I'm just curious

Juan 12-17-2009 12:11 AM

I already explain why I personally don't like it.

ron the dial 12-17-2009 12:13 AM

WELL THAT'S JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH JUAN

Supreme Olajuwon 12-17-2009 12:20 AM

the TNA ring is way too small

Jeritron 12-17-2009 12:22 AM

yes

Jordan 12-17-2009 12:48 AM

I like it, it is different but not too different. I have watched lucha libre for a while so I am pretty used to it.

Droford 12-17-2009 01:36 AM

Bisch should go with his idea he had in WCW of not even having a ring.

The Show Off 12-17-2009 01:41 AM

I watch TNA more than WWE and I think going to 4 sides is a good idea. You can tell when a wrestler first debuts in TNA they're not as good in the ring right away it takes most of them like 2 or 3 moths to get used to the ring, and by then they've a;ready established themselves to the fans as not as good as they could be.

The only people I saw uneffected by the 6 sides of that bat are Kurt Angle and Desmond Wolfe.

20 X 20 is that bigger smaller or the same as WWE?

Droford 12-17-2009 01:44 AM

They should wrestle in a circle squared (two round rings).

Unless the WWE recently changed their ring since, the new TNA ring should be the same size as WWE's rings.

KIRA 12-17-2009 02:57 AM

Ive done the math and read a few opinions now I see the complaint and the awkwardness it can create for guys used to four sided rings that being said I think the only reason hogan hates it is because if he steps in that ring he will look TERRIBLE.

The Mackem 12-17-2009 04:13 AM

I love how Hogan can just come in and get these things changed.

yep he goes in changes tna while lighting a fire under wwe's ass so they get bret back. i never was a hogan fan being a piper mark, but hogan gets shit done.

Rammsteinmad 12-17-2009 12:38 PM

I've always said to change the Impact Zone to have one entrance ramp. May not seem like a huge change, but for every show with one less ramp, that's another good hundred seats or so to be filled with paying customers.

Rammsteinmad 12-17-2009 12:39 PM

As for the ring. :y:

They haven't had two ramps in over a year.

They have two enterances on the stage at the top of the ramp, but just one ramp.

They've had one entrance ramp for a while now.

kareru 12-17-2009 03:18 PM

i like the idea of heels using one tunnel and the faces using the other tunnel, it gives the impression of segregation between the bad guys and good guys, i remember when the tunnels used to be at the opposite end of the arena, and entrance ramp change is great for tna, i have always wanted the ramp to change and as it has been said before its a small change but it makes a big difference, now all we need is a different entrance stage for the ppv's

owenbrown 12-17-2009 03:45 PM

I don't think even "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" could help the Impact Zone short of blowing it up with TNARICK in it

It just means he will be winning the TNA World Title much sooner now

Loose Cannon 12-17-2009 03:54 PM

On his Twitter account, Kevin Nash teased an New World Order reunion in TNA. “Big Sexy” tweeted the following last week: “might see PAC Hogan Hall and Nash on tna together real soon” He also said he talked to Hall last week and said he “sounded great.” For those unaware, “PAC” is Sean “X-Pac” Waltman

Loose Cannon 12-17-2009 03:56 PM

they might be able to get away with airing old Nitro episodes starting on January 4th. The first show would be when Hall shows up. And they could just edit the footage to make it look like TNA's arena and everything

kareru 12-17-2009 04:00 PM

BUT WHO IS THE THIRD MAN ???!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Loose Cannon 12-17-2009 04:05 PM

actually, YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!

they should just run the same exact storyline, but with a few "edits" if you will. Like this time, the THIRD MAN would be Stinger and not Hogan

Xero 12-17-2009 04:07 PM

TnWo

Total nonstop World order.

I think they could get away with that name. Put out the money for Rockhouse and boom, nWo 2010.

that might actually work you know, everyone sees hogan coming out expecting him to be the third man, but *swerve* OMG ITS THE STINGER

because the future angle is hogan leads the younger guys whilst dixie/mick leads the team of the older guys

Skippord 12-17-2009 05:01 PM

I'm sure new nWo will go well

screech 12-17-2009 07:12 PM

I actually liked the two tunnels for faces and heels :-\

KIRA 12-17-2009 08:20 PM

I actually had a dream a few weeks back that TNA beat raw and l the wcw alumnai showed up and the set the music and storylines all slowly morphed into Monday nitro

The Pope 12-18-2009 01:06 AM

Wow how true that is

Droford 12-18-2009 01:27 AM

They should just go TWO..Hogan and..someone.

Total World Order.

KayfabeMan 12-18-2009 03:13 AM

Hopefully DDP will come back. I bet he's still got some go left in him.

He's in the best shape of his life right now, and I know he's starting to take some bookings for 2010; so that would be awesome to see him have one more run, ala Sting.

The Pope 12-18-2009 11:28 AM

maybe the third guy will be the "Whole Fuckin' Show" Rob Van Dam

no. Sting, Nash, Hall, PAC, RVD

kareru 12-18-2009 01:34 PM

the oWo

old world order

KayfabeMan 12-19-2009 12:33 AM

THe in ring product would be so much better without the 6 sides of crap. Every match is so sloppy because of the ring, that includes the guys who actually know what they're doing in there.

Xero 12-19-2009 01:57 PM

The one downside with the six sided ring is that it takes adjustment. I remember when a few guys came in they were clearly having trouble running/hitting the ropes because the extra sides throws off their ring-awareness.
