Rapping over a beat doesn't mean hip-hop, but it's fairly close. Still, this doesn't kill hip-hop unless it's the extend of hip-hop you listen to (hoping not).

Good hip hop will always be around. Most music on the radio is 5 times worse than it was back in the late 90's but that doesn't mean that all music is dead. It's just the focus is on really shitty, uninspired music that shakes asses mindlessly.
