Just got Saints Row 2 and Mass Effect

Anyone play these alot and if so, how good are they?

Fryza 01-06-2010 04:21 PM

They're both fantastic.

Kane Knight 01-06-2010 04:38 PM

Love 'em both.

El Fangel 01-06-2010 05:43 PM

In either of your opinion, should I have gotten Oblivion instead of Mass Effect?

Big Fat Mike 01-06-2010 10:05 PM

Why would you buy those? All of the nude people in mass effect are adults..

G 01-06-2010 10:10 PM

Mass Effect was great, once you get out of the beginning level and into the Citadel.

Kane Knight 01-06-2010 10:19 PM

I didn't like Oblivion, so I'm certainly not going to advocate it over Mass Effect. Biggest pain in the ass was the MAKO exploration planets.

G 01-06-2010 10:22 PM

Have you played Fable 2, FA?

Savio 01-06-2010 11:02 PM

Saints Row 2 makes you do a lot of bullshitting

El Fangel 01-07-2010 12:37 AM

I was intending on getting Fable 2, but there two were 15 each and Fable 2 was 40 so I got the best deal for my money. I havent really started Mass Effect, but there are a half dozen problems I have with Saints Row and the biggest is the pointlessness of activities and shit at the start, people pulling you out of driving cars and weapon switching is rather annoying. Otherwise I like it. Also how the fuck do you zoom out on the map screen.

You're not missing much with Fable 2. They watered down the game to the point when a retard could master it. "Hold B, Cast Big Spell, Profit."

Oh, and you can have lesbian sex. And there's a dog. Talk about innovative.

Weapon swapping is easy. I love the wheel. Far as the "pontlessness," I'm just going to assume you're completely new to sandboxes like Saviour.

RoXer 01-07-2010 01:07 AM

Yeah Fable 2 is fun but not really challenging.

Sad part is, the combat system/ leveling up is a huge step up from the first one. And it's just a few button changes, color switches, and condensing two spells into one. Cutscenes were a mess. The game can not keep up if you've got a crowd of people around you. The citizen AI isn't spectacular.

Why did I like this game again?

RoXer 01-07-2010 01:08 AM

Oh that's right, because G did all the work and I took all the credit. :D

D Mac 01-07-2010 01:27 AM

Fallout 3 should be your next purchase.

El Fangel 01-07-2010 02:28 AM

Kk there should be no wheres near that many options for street races that early in a sandbox game. Also DM that or Dragon Age will be my next one.

Kane Knight 01-07-2010 02:43 AM

Why should there be nowhere near that many options for street races in a sandbox game that early?

El Fangel 01-07-2010 03:01 AM

Street Races are the worst thing ever in GTA games, remember racing Hillary in Vice City?

D Mac 01-07-2010 04:34 AM

Yeah Dragon Age is another good choice. I'll be buying it soon too.

D Mac 01-07-2010 04:35 AM

By the way, when you do get Fallout 3 try to get the game of the year edition. Totally worth it.

El Fangel 01-07-2010 05:25 AM

Triually noted.

Mr. Nerfect 01-07-2010 06:11 AM

You made some good purchases. I definitely stand behind Dragon Age as your next one. :y:

El Fangel 01-07-2010 07:27 AM

Well the place I got these had a few other cheap games (all under 20 each) which included Bioshock, Oblivion, Halo 3, Devil May Cry 4 and Assassins Creed.

Mr. Nerfect 01-07-2010 07:47 AM

BioShock is pretty great. Devil May Cry 4 is also a lot of fun.

G 01-07-2010 07:57 AM

I know you're going for discount games, but stay away from AC. The second one is 51345345x better.

You don't have to do them though. They're optional.

Street races have come a long way since then in GTA, dude. Have you seriously ever not raced once in either San Andreas or IV (or either of it's expansions)?

Except, of course, you don't race against anyone. And the mechanics play out better. And they're completely optional, unless you mean Saints Row 1, where I think you have to race all of twice.

Get back to me when you have a real complaint.

D Mac 01-07-2010 03:04 PM

Wait, hold on a minute FA, you still need to get GH: Metallica.

Yeah, got those both from a pawn shop, they work fine so its all good. Next pay I should be able to get a new game and I think Fallout or Dragons Age.

I know, but you need to do something to gain enough respect to do actual missions.

Yes, I have. I had a 100% Profile in SA, including first and gold medals in EVERYTHING and thats why I hate racing, the fucking cars always flipped/something hateful always happened.

The one race I did in SR2, I raced against 3 other cars...:wtf:

Anyways, I know I dont HAVE to do them, but they are still there.

Thing is, you are the only person that would play with me.

The Mask 01-07-2010 05:50 PM

i like the activies in saints row. breaks up the monotony of shooting anything that moves in the missions.

El Fangel 01-07-2010 05:55 PM

Yeah, that was another thing. All the missions so far was killing everything you see. This is not bad but if its the whole game then well fuck.

So? I play with myself all the time! :shifty:

Really tho, if you are a true Tallica fan you will get it.

El Fangel 01-08-2010 02:05 AM

I would if the guitar came with the fucking thing.

D Mac 01-08-2010 02:55 AM

You can get used guitars pretty cheap now. Plus any USB mic and you can sing that shit.

I'm glad that mission was in there. No not because it was fun but because it was EXTREMELY challenging which made me feel happier once I beat it.

(I actually beat it because Hilary ran over a spike strip)

El Fangel 01-08-2010 08:45 AM

Yeah, I dont order stuff online.

Ever.

Also, as for racing Hillary, my car got hit by a police car, flipped onto its hood in front of Hillarys car and got pushed over the finish line like that.

Epic win.

G 01-08-2010 08:58 AM

Why? Everything is cheaper online.

RoXer 01-08-2010 09:15 AM

There's Goozex too.

G 01-08-2010 09:17 AM

Yeah, sign up for Goozex.

God, if I didn't already have a GH5 guitar I don't use, two mics, and Smash Hits, I'd jump on that.

I am not a fan of abnormally difficult and infuriating things to do in games.

Like play with other people or behave yourself. If the races you've done are too hard, you might want to snap your disc in half now and be done with it. You will never complete most of the high end activities or top missions if you think the races are hard. And if you think what's being done to you now is unfair, the sheer amount of shit that will be thrown at you on a mission where you have full notoriety will probably piss you off to no end.

Especially since you're pissed they gave you a bunch of optional activities which do not even count to completion of the game at the beginning. how horrible that it offers an open city and choices of how to play it.

You got that backwards if I was new to sandboxes I would want to explore. I wasn't so I just wanted to play the missions.

I think you got me wrong KK, I didnt mean to insinuate that the race missions in SR2 are difficult, they are in fact not, I got second on my first try and 1st on my second try.

I understand the game will be frustrating at points, all games are because that is what the challenge of the game is. I know the races dont have to be done, what I am saying is that races in sandbox games usually tend to be extremely frustrating as the police/rogue vehicle/anither car always seem to screw you over somehow.

As for the end stuff pissing me off to no end, the only thing that still annoys me now is how rival gang members can pull you from a car at a decent moving speed, not fun when there is 5+ of them.

An example of ridicously difficult and infuriating things in games
- Hillary in GTA: VC
- 2nd Zero Mission in San Andreas
- Seymour on the Mountain in FFX
- Ninja Gaiden
- The fight against the dopplegangers in God of War
- 3 Leaf Clover in GTA4

Those kind of things, that usually require several dozen tries and usually only end when you have been very lucky.

Savio 01-09-2010 11:39 AM

I forget what was 3 leaf clover?

El Fangel 01-09-2010 11:42 AM

Where you and the McReary guys go and rob the bank and then have to run down alleys with constant police fire then have to race away before they catch you.
