As "The Darkness" are in america at the mo...

What do our neighbours think of them over the pond?

P.S. They perform on Jay Leno on 19th April in the states, so watch!

Anyway, what do you think? DISCUSS

Funky Fly 04-11-2004 04:24 PM

They are pretty good. The album gets kinda stupid at times.

My little brother calls them a "waste of talent".

TheNamelessOne 04-11-2004 04:24 PM

I love them! I've always liked bands with lead singers who sound like they have their crotch caught in something performing outdated music badly and looking like complete idiots while doing it. Below average cock rock bands bring back the spirit of rock!

Justin Hawkins is a complete shit head. What a great idea - You don't get asked to perform at Glastonbury so you whine about it like a little bitch.

Wengerland 04-11-2004 04:28 PM

I used to think they ruled, got a bit bored of them now but i still think they're pretty good.

bobfinger 04-11-2004 04:37 PM

Their hit song sounds awesome when you are wasted

The Mask 04-11-2004 05:15 PM

They're pretty crap. They're talented but the novelty won't last for too long.

That's basically what my brother says.

He acknowledges their skill, but it's like a stereotype of 80s hair bands.

Silent 04-11-2004 05:24 PM

I like them. Just a fun album to listen to.

What he said.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 05:45 PM

They'd a be a lot better if the frontman sounded like he could sing. He sounds like a Tonedeaf Tim Staffel.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 05:45 PM

Or a dog who's been chained down and has his nuts nailed repeatedly with a sledgehammer.

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 05:49 PM

i guess if everyone here was born 10 years earlier then they originally were there would be more positive then negative comments :p

asphyXy 04-11-2004 05:52 PM

The Darkness is stupid, and I'm a fan of Poison, Warrant, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Van Halen, Skid Row, Tesla, etc.

Moron.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 06:05 PM

Hey Asphyxy...Do you know if Ratt's name has anything to do with the venue the Ratt down in Boston?

(It no longer exists, but used to be a big place for Boston acts).

Well, it certainly didn't make you any smarter, and it only stated what everyone already knew (Which could further indicate how retarded you are).

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 06:25 PM

Once again a useless comment made to no effect. KK, chill out. All I was trying to achieve was what peoples opinions were on a band. You made one, fair enough, but then to make a lame-ass comment on a lil joke. Dont waste your time being so pathetic.

Gertner 04-11-2004 06:27 PM

It's like Pac-Man. Sure it's good for a nostalgia kick, but after a while it get tiresome.

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 06:27 PM

Back ON-TOPIC: Has anyone made any plans to see them on there tour? or have already been? If not check out the Jay Leno performance, it will be alot of fun no doubt.

asphyXy 04-11-2004 06:28 PM

Ratt was a glam band. Adding another T to the end of the name made it look cool.

I didn't know. I'd heard OF them, but not heard them, and I didn't know anything about 'em.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 10:24 PM

Yeah, a Th1rt3en year old calling me junior. Good one.

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 10:33 PM

DUDE, seriously. WTF is your problem, following your posts through the music forum I would of thought you would of had somewhat more of a constructive reply with-in a music related topic, I know you know your shit about music. Instead you took your half-wit nonsense bullshit and ejacualted it all over the place, take the dick out of your hand and the dick out of you mouth and stop being such a whiney penis.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 10:35 PM

Coming from the retard who came up with a jewel like "If you were all 10 years older..."

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 10:48 PM

Post equalled Joke

KK equals the skin between ur scrote and your asshole.

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 10:50 PM

Joke equalled lame.

New joke still equals lame.

JJ's IQ equals 13 no doubt.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 04-11-2004 10:52 PM

Their hit song is getting played out big time...I bet they will be a one hit wonder...I can just tell

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 10:54 PM

True enough...They will be remembered for the one line with that lead girl singing about a thing called love.

hmm, you may be right about one hit wonder, rome wasnt built in a day as also they cant break the world with one album. There trying to break america bit by bit, when they were on letterman it opened up for them alot more, Jay Leno will do the same for them. They need to be on a bigger stage for America, VMA's in the summer maybe?

Kane Knight 04-11-2004 10:55 PM

Yeah, like they're not being shoved at us enough.

They're way too gay for me.

And I listen to that gay punk/emo music.

I tend not to like anything that's shoved down my throat ad nauseum.

They're on TV all the time, in ads for their own record, in ads for movies and TV, and so on.

Even if the frontman didn't sound like an Austine student (School for the Deaf), I'd be very much turned off by the massive overkill on the airwaves. Things get boring if you don't go 9 seconds at a time without experiencing them.

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 11:27 PM

I guess the american company fat cats are just jumping on the bandwagon of there global sucess then and thinking the bigger and better they premote that in some way there gonna come out better then everyone else. Who knows! :-\

Thanks for posting a relevent reply

Or the fact that listening to whiny lyrics makes me feel better about myself.

Just like beating up handicapped people.

JJ Moore 04-11-2004 11:34 PM

Man take an Andrew WK pill or summit, but beating on handicaps soudns fun too

Downunder 04-11-2004 11:38 PM

I downloaded their album - listened to it 3 times, gave them a chance. ( I was thinking maybe they would grow on me, or I was missing something that everyone else got)

The plain truth is they suck

I love glam/hair metal, I was a teenager when it was at it's peak. The Darkness are a really bad piss take, they'll fade away very quickly.

JJ Moore 04-12-2004 12:17 AM

well they've been going strong for a good 2 1/2 years now, only made it big in the past year. I dont see them fading anytime soon, they may not break america as soon as they'd like but there doing a good job so far.

Doesn't bad piss take indicate it was intentional?

Well, it depends.

They're being pretty heavily oversaturated in my opinion. A great way to burn out before you can make it "big" in any place.

I think the big cats are just overdoing to make money, or just trying to reach out to everyone in a sense, who knows, who cares, laters im going to bed.

The record industry has gotten into a stagnant cycle of shoving bands down peoples' throats.

It's one main force behind the declining record sales.

Possibly.

But if that's the case there is a hell of a lot of people who didn't get the joke and are taking it seriously - I just think it's a bad joke.

Kane Knight 04-12-2004 01:36 AM

Kane Knight 04-12-2004 01:37 AM

Spinal Tap '04?

Ninti the Mad 04-12-2004 05:40 AM

Sucks.

Cactus Sid 04-12-2004 08:50 AM

Saw them at Reading last year and they were fantastic

Wont say anything else about them, because at that point I'd never heard of them, and now sometimes I wish I still hadn't

Mr. Monday Morning 04-12-2004 10:01 AM

The Darkness *wish* they were Spinal Tap.

They're like a poor retarded man's second string Spinal Tap.

Kane Knight 04-12-2004 02:12 PM

Like Woodstock 94...

MoRcHeEbA 04-12-2004 03:09 PM
