Starz channel. Looks interesting. |
Spartacus Blood and Sand
So I decided to give it a chance. The first 5-6 episodes were meh for me but enough to keep my interest. Almost seems like a gladiator movie parody... but a lot of titties and vag and a lot of blood, so I figured why the hell not?
Anyways, I just caught a pre screen of episode 9, and the show in the past few eps has finally gotten its legs. People seem more comfortable in their rolls and it's less fucking stupid as it was. Maybe I'm just getting used to the uber cheese dialogue and the poor acting, or maybe the acting is finally better, but I can actually say I am beginning to fully enjoy the show. Thoughts? |
I have never seen it but I read that the guy who plays Spartacus was just diagnosed with cancer.
|
I don't think they said fuck and cock that much in ancient Rome

I like it, but I think it does things to shock just for the sake of it.
It's like a cross between Deadwood, Rome and 300. |

John Hannah pretty much carries the whole thing. |
He's always just randomly fucking slaves in front of Lucy Lawless.
|
yo show the tittys
|
I hope this black guy that played the messenger in 300 gets sandal-kicked again.
|
Pretty entertaining show. They are definitely getting comfortable in their roles now.
Spartacus and Crixus' battle for dominance was pretty great/satisfying this last episode. Looking forward to seeing how Crixus and Spartacus make ammends and how Crixus becomes a leader/general with Spartacus after the escape. |
Been watching this on Mondays while my laundry is going, loving it. The blood is wayyyyyyy over the top.
|
This is way better than the other Spartacus thread.

But if there is another, pardon my carelessness.

Nah there was another thread 2 months ago in the movie forum started by some loser poster that had 0 replies.

The Drama in this show has nothing on HBO's Rome series, but it is still very entertaining. Just saw a pre-screen of Episode 9, and it was pretty awesome.

If you like Spartacus, then I HIGHLY recommend you watch Rome. There are only 2 seasons, as it was one of HBO's most expensive series to make, but it is well worth it. One of my favorite shows ever.
There isn't as much violence, but I feel it is on the whole a better show. Lucy Lawless is alright as a 'bitch', I guess... but Polly Walker made me believe she was an absolute cunt of a human being. The acting really makes Rome, IMO. |
Yeah Rome is far superior. Second season wasn't as good though.
|
Tried this a few times, couldn't stand it. Terrible dialogue, as was mentioned, and some of the actors are also terrible.
|
wow this is embarrassing. Now GDN will think I'm stealing his thunder.
|
Damn, gotta say though. want to bury my face in that one blonde chick's titties.
|
Had to love Rome for its female full frontal nudity. Bless them.
|
Sick episode this week.

Just watched the season finale.
Gotta say I loved this series. I might even like it better than Rome. It's definitely better than the second season. When it first started, I was mildly interested, but it kept getting better and better, and by the season finale, I was totally hooked. Finale itself was awesome. Excellent payoff. |
Gonna say
Rome Season 1 > Spartacus > Rome Season 2 |
Na, both seasons of Rome > Spartacus.
But apparently the lead actor his cancer or something and there is no news on a second season. They are talking a prequel, fuck that, I wanna see the slave army chop Romans to pieces. |
Yeah, finale was awesome.
But both seasons of Rome were incredible. Still couldn't consider this show better than that. The finale brought everything together though and was awesome. I really hope there is a second season. We just found out who the third leader was, and I wanna see them take down Glabius (the prick who put him in there). In History, he was one of the first that came after them, and he lost bigtime. |
Loved the finale. Blood and guts for serious.
|
This is the new Spartacus.

The first episode of the Prequel was pretty bloody good as well.

ugh prequel? Is it just an episode or the whole season?
|
Whole season. Only like 6 episodes I think.
First 2 have been good, IMO. |
I think it's set 5 years prior to Spartacus' arrival. It shows a time when Ashur and Crixus was bought and recruited and Oenemeus the trainer was only just a gladiator. The champion is Gannicus and he seems to be a cross between Colin Farrel and Brad Pitt's Achilles.
|
AYE, JUPITER'S COCK
|
Holy shit, just realized the new doctore is Jango fucking Fett.
|
Technically the old doctore. Pluto's asshole.
|
Definitely making "jupiter's cock" a part of my lexicon.
|
Words fall from your mouth like shit from ass
|
arse*
Also, great episode last night. I can almost feel for Barca where it not yet for his horrible acting. |

When the rock came back to raw last week and he said "FINALLY" all I could think about was "the gods have removed cock from ass!"

One of the best prequels on TV, this one. The trailer for the finale is up: SPOILER: show I gained much respect for Lucretia's character now, she can very well hold her own against Atia of the Rome series. Sorta regretting the death of her and Batiatus now. |
The way Batiatus talks and sounds is getting annoying to me. I hope Gannicus survives and shows up in the 2nd season. I don't know how it's gonna be with the new guy as Spartacus though.
I would like to see Gannicus fight the Crixus from the beginning of Blood and Sand. Gannicus seems the more skillfull and agile fighter, Crixus is the stronger one and determined while Spartacus has that undying will and can take a lot of punishment. |
I don't think Gannicus would end up fighting either of them, he'd probably join them in their rebellion.
|
I know, it's just something I'd like to see just to know who's the better gladiator.
|
I get the feeling Gannicus is probably going to die in the finale.
|
Yeah same. Unless they are planning on doing a second season of Gods of the Arena or something.
|
Well the fact that Gannicus
SPOILER: show |

I started watching the first episode and turned it off because it was so awful. |
As I've said before, this show doesn't even compare to the production/theater/acting quality of Rome. However, it is incredibly entertaining.
|
This is the gayest fucking show I have ever seen but it's still pretty addictive

Tyler Reks looks like he should be on this show.

I had no idea Gannicus was a general in the revolt. I thought they just made him up for the sake of the show. |
Fucking awesome finale.. I had goosebumps throughout the final fight.
|
I should have waited until the HD version was done downloading but I went ahead and watched the last 30 mins on SD quality.
I'm glad what I thought about Gannicus came true but it was a good surprise on how it was done. Something I noticed was that Batiatus and Lucretia were decent at first but the death of Gaia pushed Lucretia to become what she was in B&S and then her actions made Batiatus become like the person he despised (Tullius). http://buzzpop.net/wp-content/upload...4187724289.jpg |

Juracus
|
Ya the ending makes me agree with your prediction that Gannicus will be back for B&S.
|
Bloody hell, I just realized this is it for Batiatus and Lucretia :'(
|
Damn... anyone know when they usually post the new episodes on Netflix. I thought the other episodes it was Saturday morning but this one aint up yet. Unless they arent gonna put it...in which case I really need to find a download.

|
Spartacus: Vengeance officially airs the 27th. I've seen a webrip already. I miss Andy as Spartacus. I think I need a few episodes to settle me in before I mention anything.
|
Enjoyed this season. The new guy certainly isn't Andy Whitfield, but did a good job replacing him.
|
Dunno, I got bored enough with it that I stopped watching. The new actor lacked the intensity of Andy Whitfield. I don't expect him to emulate the guy, but he just had no screen presence. Crixus and Oenamaus stole any scene they were in. Found the storytelling a bit bland too. Felt really cheap bringing back Lucy Lawless, like they were trying to grasp at something due to losing Andy Whitfield. Not nearly as impacting as the first season or even the offshoot 'Gods of the Arena'.
|
God the finale was bad ass... After I watched it the first time I was pumped and wanted to start breaking shit lol.
Amazing finale and makes me glad to already see the video that they are working on Season 3 for next year. |
Requeim, you really missed out by stopping watching this. The cast shone nicely as the season progressed and the finale was brilliant.
SPOILER: show |
