Finlay d. Batista by DQ when Batista refused to break the referee's 5-count I guess. Then he cut a promo saying Finlay represented the other Royal Rumble competitors and that he would win the Rumble and end Taker's undefeated streak at Mania.

Dolph Ziggler beat Jimmy Wang Yang with a rear naked choke hold.

CM Punk and Luke Gallows come out saved another fan. This time it is a hyper fan named Serena (Mia from FCW) and Punk shaves her long hair off till she is completely bald!!!

Handicap match: Chris Jericho & Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison. Teddy Long comes out and makes it a tag team match. Morrison's tag partner is R-Truth.

John Morrison & R-Truth win when Truth pins Jericho after a scissor kick. Great match!

They show highlights of Rey winning the world title at Mania 22 while the ring crew sets up food and balloons for the next segment... Involving McCool & James.

Michelle McCool and Layla make fun of Mickie James with a buffet of food. Maria interferes and calls them morons. Mickie comes out and says Michelle and Layla think they are great but really they are nothing. She points at the audience and says this is what real women look like. She says Michelle will never run her off Smackdown. Michelle says the WWE fans get to watch Animal Planet and WWE at the same time when Mickie is on TV. Catfight ensues. Beth Phoenix runs in and helps Michelle and Layla. They shove a 'Piggie' cake into Mickie's face and dump punch on her. Actually a great segment, believe it or not!

Mike Knox & Charlie Haas (he still works here too!) vs. Cryme Tyme gets interrupted by Kane, who lays everyone out. I guess he wants to win the Rumble too...

Matt Hardy & Great Khali (there's an odd team for you) d. The Hart Dynasty when Hardy rolled up DH Smith.

Rey calls out Taker. He says he is not afraid of him. Taker says he admires Rey's bravery but at the Royal Rumble he will defeat Rey and Rey will rest in peace. As Taker walks out, Batista lays out Rey and runs away through the crowd.

Vickie Guerrero comes out and makes Rey vs. Batista for tonight. I'm guessing this is a dark match.

It's a no DQ match. They brawl with weapons for a bit. Jericho interferes and hits the codebreaker on Rey. Matt Hardy runs in with a twist of fate to Jericho. CM Punk runs in and hits GTS on Hardy. Kane runs in and chokeslams Punk. Batista spears Kane. Rey jumps back in and attacks Batista. Kane chokeslams Batista and Rey splashes off Kane's shoulders and pins Batista. Crowd goes home happy.

Overall an average episode of Smackdown, meaning it was great!

That was the exact same dark match, sequence and all, that I saw. :-\

And this whole Mickie thing is getting annoying now. I keep hoping that this isnt a burial to Mickie, but the fact that Michelle and Layla keep getting the upperhand on her is definitely punishment. And I thought Beth was acting like a tweener, yet now she has helped the heels 2 weeks in a row.

At the rate Raw has been going as of late, I'll take a bad SmackDown over a "good" Raw.

Also, I've been meaning to ask, but does anyone have a clue as to wtf CM Punk saving people will lead to. I know the first guy he "saved" is a wrestler, and Serena obviously, but what about "Trevor" from last week? Is he a worker, too? And are these guys going to eventually join the group and form an actual stable?

For the belt. I have a feeling Punk wins the Rumble and Rey beats Taker because of HBK.

I like Beth helping the heels, because the way I look at it by eliminating Mickie she gets rid of a major threat to the title she wants and now that McCool thinks Beth is on her side, it lulls her into a false sense of security and then Beth will strike and eventually take her title.

Calling it now, she'll be the next "cow" who feuds with Michelle.

Care to explain?

Punk vs. Mysterio for the World Title would be awesome, they usually have pretty good one on one match Armageddon 08 comes to mind and I am sure on the grand stage they'll pull out all the stops. Punk hasn't had a one on one match at Mania yet, and he deserves it being one of the top guys on the roster. Mysterio as champion wouldn't bother me in the slightest because I think with the way he's been wrestling the past year it will be a good reign.

R-Truth has been getting hot as of late. Why not try and keep his momentum going? Isn't that how you build credible stars?

This I can agree with but the main event scene's abit clogged at the moment. Hopefully we get an Edge return soon and Jericho's character will pick back up.

I honestly think thats what they're waiting for. Mania buildup starts now and Jericho's just kind of floating around.

FCW is going to be the baldest wrestling promotion ever if this carries on.

As much as I love CM Punk and Rey Mysterio i doubt they'll have a match for the world title at wrestlemania but any match will be awesome.

I don't think Punk v Rey will be a title match, it doesn't need to be if they go with the Hair v Mask stipulation.

To whomever is pissing and moaning about Jericho jobbing to R Truth... one of the top guys needs to put guys over, noone else seems to do it.

Not to mention that Jericho and McIntyre dominated for about 15 minutes of the 17+ minute match. And the fact that Jericho was "distracted" with a boot to the face by Morrison before Truth hit the finisher.

As for the rest of the show, the Punk/Serena segment was great, especially the last shot of her hugging him and laying her head on his chest while he had that classic cult leader smile on his face. Nice to see Mickie James get some mic time to stick up for herself and Maria was surprisingly not bad on the mic. A little peeved that the Harts lost to Khali and Hardy, but it looks like they're starting a little program so who knows.

Back to Punk and Gallows, since the title match is on next week's SmackDown, I actually wouldn't be surprised to see them take the titles, especially if they're still teasing problems between DX with the Royal Rumble looming -- it'll be the last televised show before the Rumble, so something big might go down.

I could see them doing something next week where during the DX vs. straight edge match, the ref is down, HBK goes for SCM on Punk, only for her to run in and stand in the middle so he can't do it... HBK won't kick a girl, him and HHH start to argue, Gallows pushes HHH into HBK, who gets caught with the G2S....

That's how I'd do it at least.

Here are some of my thoughts on SmackDown!:

* Batista bores the shit out of me. I like Finlay, and his new dye job is pretty funny. But you wouldn't laugh to his face. Batista taking Finlay out makes perfect sense, and I think Finlay should not return until after the Rumble. To be honest, I would not mind seeing Batista and Finlay feud heading into WrestleMania. But I have a feeling they want to do Batista vs. Cena.

* CM Punk's cult leader stuff is really entertaining in an understated sort of way. Serena was acting like she was in love with him, and it made you feel uneasy (which was the effect they were going for, I am sure). It would not surprise me to see CM Punk & Luke Gallows win the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship next week. Serena should have some play to part, as should DX tension. WWKD suggested a great way to do it.

* R-Truth pinning Chris Jericho is not a big deal. It goes a long way to benefitting R-Truth, who is also going to be in the Rumble match, I am sure. Spread the credibility around. John Morrison also gets a win, which is never a bad thing. I also liked how McIntyre and Jericho played against each other in the ending. Truthfully, I could see Jericho vs. Edge at Mania being for the IC Title, with Jericho winning it back in the near future. It'd be a nice rub for the title, anyway.

* That being said, if McIntyre is injured, I could see John Morrison winning his fourth IC Title next week. But if McIntyre is good to go, then I think he should definitely retain. I am liking Drew McIntyre more and more each week.

* I am torn on the whole Michelle McCool/Layla/Mickie James/Maria/Beth Phoenix storyline. I wish we were getting some sort of Fatal 4-Way between McCool, Layla, Mickie and Beth for the Royal Rumble. Ah well.

* CHARLIE HAAS~! SmackDown! has actually got something of a tag team scene going. They've got Cryme Tyme, The Hart Dynasty, Matt Hardy & The Great Khali, Hard Knox and The Georgia Boyz (Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J). If only they had their own set of Tag Team Titles.

* Matt Hardy & The Great Khali going over The Hart Dynasty doesn't really bother me. Hopefully the plan is to have Matt Hardy & Khali team together. Khali will be a lot more tolerable in a tag team, and Matt Hardy is too over to not be doing something constructive.

* I am not as into the Undertaker/Rey Mysterio match at the Royal Rumble as I would like to be.

Too much of a dork and if I ever did try anything I'd probably get my balls crushed into fine powder by my sister. Who was a soccer player at the time. I've been kicked by her before too.

Still got the dent in my back from it.

She looks like the type of girl who might enjoy the dorky type, Shadow.

Alas, now we'll never know.

Though if you knew my sister you'd know just how violent she could get. Our house was like a warzone some days.

CM Punk is so fucking amazing.

I am fortunate that the only sisters I have are younger than me. Wait, they came with their problems, too.

As am I. Doesn't mean I didn't get beat up while beating them up.
