It came with a free poster which was a totally new idea to me at the time. Games coming with extras like that.

Still one of my favourites, awesome multiplayer for the ps1. Basically just starting off as a swearing bean shaped guy, then collecting blocks to build more people, Angels, Tanks, Planes, missile launchers, and loads of other random shit to fight with.

Recently sold off my copy of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

I totally loved Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball. Get enough money to have 5 robot Laimbeers on your team and you were golden.

Think I might have to break out a Genesis from store stock and play Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl.

OssMan 01-23-2010 05:48 PM

Damn I hate you less Parkmania. Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball is legendary amongst my friends and I. I won the tournament we had in that game, I am such a monster at it. I'm trying to collect every game in the unofficial series of the format (Athletes first and last name)'s (Adjective) (Sport). I have Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, Mike Ditka's Power Football, and David Robinson's Supreme Court. May have to look into Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl.

Pigskin Footbrawl is basically Blood Bowl, if you're familiar with that board game. It's only on the Genesis according to gamefaqs.com.

Depending on how loose you want to make that format, I know there's Prime Time NFL Starring Deion Sanders, Coach K College Basketball, and Joe Montana Sports Talk Football for the Genesis; Bill Walsh College Football on SNES, Genesis and Sega CD (the '95 version is only for Genesis); Al Unser Turbo Racing and John Elway's Quarterback for the NES; Emmitt Smith Football for the SNES, and a bunch of different Ken Griffey Jr. baseball games.

Also, everyone knows about Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl, but I didn't know until recently that there was a Tecmo Super NBA Basketball.

Absolutely loved Cannon Fodder when I had an Amiga.

I used to have this game for the Amiga called Superfrog, was developed by Team 17 and had was about this Frog with... Powers I guess? You had to save a princess and to regain your health you drank Lucozade. I think it was fairly popular when it came out but with it being an Amiga game I'm not to sure and it generally draws blank looks.

Another one is Zool, which was out on a few platforms but again draws blank looks today.

I was looking for video of a few ZX Spectrum games and I came across this site: http://www.zxspectrum.net/

It has a whole bunch of games from the ZX. I played Top Cat for the first time in about 18 years. Brings back memories.
The only real problem with the site is the ingame controls. The controls are all unexplained for the most part and the first few minutes of a game are spent trying to figure them out.

DAMN iNATOR 01-25-2010 01:04 AM

Dunno if anyone else here ever played or heard of it, but I used to have Zoom! for the Genesis...it was kind of like an evolved version of Q*Bert in that it had a variety of enemies, and you raced around on these oddly shaped mazes with all these little tiles, and you had to race around and claim all the tiles on a board to advance to the next, and there were also a bunch of power-ups and the like.

Scary thing to recognize is that the developers of Lemmings eventually changed their name into Rockstar Games and developed GTA.

I was wondering if that was the case, since down in the lower-right corner, you can see "DMA Design". That still has to be one of the most mysterious/ridiculous game publisher acronyms ever (Doesn't Mean Anything). And they actually developed not only the original GTA, but also GTA II and GTA III, as it wasn't until the time between GTA III and GTA: Vice City that DMA Design actually became a part of Rockstar North.

Actually, DMA is an acronym of Direct Memory Access. "Doesn't Mean Anything" was just a joke between the people at DMA. Mostly when people used to ask them what DMA stood for.

Same with DMA apparently being an acronym of "Dundee Modern Arts" as DMA/Rockstar North is from Dundee. It was just a joke that got spread around the schools in Dundee in the 90's and half the kids believed it, including me. :(

I don't know who started that one though. :wtf:

Roadsters

Also this game called "Cat Trap" for the N64 which I can't even find a pic too

Xero 02-01-2010 04:15 PM

For some reason Roadsters reminded me of this one:

So basically it was like Crazy Taxi, before Crazy Taxi, only shittier?

Xero 02-01-2010 04:21 PM

Pretty much, actually.

Absolutely one of the hardest games I've ever played. I still haven't beat it to this day.

I haven't played it since I was a child, but I remember it being rather fun.

I love this game.

Glover is great. Really hard though. Also used to play Road Rash on Genesis and PS1. Not Road Rash 3D though. Sidney Bassoon

Kung Fu Heroes on NES

Psi-ops on PS2 is pretty obscure I think, but was so awesome.

Thrill Kill on PS1

Big Fat Mike 02-01-2010 11:45 PM

Thrill Kill never got an official release. It's only playable with a pirated Beta and a modded PS1. Bitch.

loved that game

Anybody who's a Road Rash fan and has a PS2 should look for Downhill Domination. It's a spiritual successor to RR in terms of gameplay, except with BMX bikes instead of motorcycles. Great level design, fantastic sense of speed and size.

Sled Storm for the PS1 is similar, but I don't think that's as obscure.

Pain in the ass, but still one of my favorite games ever.

The ending to that game was so not worth all the bullshit you had to do to get those damned keys.

Fireshark is like the most badass thing ever.

I used to play Gauntlet Legends a lot on 64, but I think that some of you have heard of that

OssMan 02-02-2010 07:40 PM

The advice that pops up in Gauntlet Legends makes great away messages.

The one Gauntlet game nobody should ever play. "Sorrow" is all you'll experience at it's horribleness if you do. :n: The story is awful, and they gutted just about everything from the previous iteration in the series, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, which I found by far to be the best of the 3 titles since the N64 era.

Emperor Smeat 02-02-2010 10:40 PM

Its more known now than when the game 1st came out due to IGN pleading with people to buy the game and it making top 20/25 lists for the Gamecube.

Fun fact : Nintendo owns the patent for this type of sanity effect so if Silicon Knights wanted to make a sequel on other systems, it can't be used unless its on a Nintendo console.

I had that back in the late 90's :D

I don't get why it never came out, it wasn't even that violent.

And uh... I had Sega Master System way back in the day before SNES... a lot of the games were pretty unknown, weren't they?

What about cybernator for SNES? That rocked.

http://www.snesbrasil.com/wp-content...atorboxart.jpg

Drakul 02-03-2010 12:18 AM

I had Courier Crisis, Sillicon Valley, Road Rash 3D and Eternal Darkness. Courier Crisis was pretty bland, to be honest. The rest ranged from good to excellent.

Yeah, there is. I'm not following it but I saw a clip of a teaser trailer a while back.

There is probably newer trailers somewhere.

Battle Cars for the SNES, it is a pretty cool racing combat game.

So it'll be Monster Rancher crossed with Scribblenauts? That sounds amazing.
