Taker's Mania streak isn't the only thing on fire...

The Undertaker suffered burns to his chest during a pyrotechnic malfunction during his entrance when flames reached and burned his jacket as he came out for the Elimination Chamber main event. Taker immediately ripped off his jacket and quickly moved away from the pyro. When he got to the ring, he doused himself with water before working as scheduled. WWE sources indicated that when Taker returned to the locker room, he was extremely upset and yelling about the situation while management tried hard to calm the matter, which was an obvious accident. Also from PWInsider: I am just returning from the PPV tonight. I wanted to send word along. During Taker's entrance, he stopped on the the ramp and his fire shot up. He caught on fire, completely from head to toe. He threw his coat and hat off and ran to the ring. Luckily, the fire extinguished itself. Once he went into his pod, Referee Jack Doan handed Taker several bottles of water to cool himself. I can't believe he competed in the match. It was one of the scariest things I have ever seen. He was completely engulfed for one to two seconds. It was unbelievable. |

Damn it, I missed it. I was refreshing my stream when Taker was making his entrance and all I remember is the stream popping back up after like 15 seconds and Taker was already in the chamber pod. I was like "WTF!?! His entrance is always 3 minutes minimum!!!!"

I was wondering what the hell happened, because it looked like he just got randomly pissed off and ran to the ring and stuff. Is his hat ok? I heard it holds all his powers now...like the urn used to.

They should play it off like HBK is secretly an engineer on his spare time and rigged Taker's pyro to blow him up.

I just watched the PPV back..you can see which flame hit him, but you never saw him on fire..he played it off the best he could have, as he just quickly moved outta the spot, threw his jacket off and stormed to the ring.
During the match I thought Taker was sick or something, because he was constantly pouring water on himself, and during Punk's promo and his entire time in the pod, it looked like he was gonna hurl or something. You can see a burn on his chest too at the end of the match. Damn, those knife-edged chops from HBK are gonna hurt like a bitch at Mania now. Glad to hear he's ok. What a fuckin beast!! |
From that video you can see that specific flame never comes up until Taker's there.

He is extremely lucky, all I keep thinking of is James Hetfield from Metallica who went through the exact same thing and he was burned down to the bone on his arms and hands, Undertaker's long trench coat saved his ass, big time. Damn, there is nothing like the pain of a burn.

Now if WWE is smart, they will work this into the HBK storyline. HBK has been acting really weird lately so maybe they could write in that he did that with the pyro and set Undertaker off really bad and thus agree to the Wrestlemania rematch. Golden.

I had a feeling something went wrong during his entrance when I saw him running.
But I actually bought what Cole was saying and thought it was all Kayfabe and that The Undertaker was actually "eager" to get into the match and so on. Then later, when The Undertaker pulled down his straps and I saw a big burn mark on his chest, I was curious as to where that came from. But yeah, the footage of it is quite amazing and The Undertaker is an extremely lucky man. His trench coat basically saved his life. |
