Tracks from my band's CD

Over the course of three days earlier this month, my band recorded our demo EP, This Is Me, That's Your Daughter, which consists of five songs. The dude who recorded us played guitar for The Divinyls, who were some big Australian band in the 80s, and he said he was really impressed with what we had to offer. I've uploaded the tracks for you guys so you can have a listen, and tell me what you think. Please keep in mind that we only had three days, so there is the odd mistake or vocal discrepancy or something, but we're aware of it so we don't really care.

Uh, you'll hopefully like the songs if you're into the same music people like fonzy, mitch H, Trips and myself are into.

Anyway, here are the tracks:

1. The Arc Of A Moon

Ryan: Verses/Guitar
Luke: Guitar/Choruses
Mitch: Backup Vocals/Screams/Bass
Peder: Drums

2. 1,000 Miles

(originally by Vanessa Carlton)

Ryan: Guitar
Luke: Lead Vocals/Guitar
Mitch: Vocals/Screams/Bass
Peder: Drums

3. Exterior Contract

Ryan: Lead Vocals/Guitar
Luke: Guitar
Mitch: Screams/Bass
Peder: Drums

4. A Friend Is... (Poptastic)

Ryan: Guitar/Vocals
Luke: Guitar
Mitch: Lead Vocals/Bass
Peder: Drums

5. Paper City Sound Scape

Ryan: Verses/Guitar
Luke: Choruses/Guitar
Mitch: Screams/Bass
Peder: Drums

Yeah, so that's pretty much it. Hope you enjoy it. It's not perfect, but no CD that was recorded in three days is. :-\

Mitch, I'm interested in purchasing a copy :D

mitch_h 12-15-2003 12:35 AM

Triple A 12-15-2003 12:50 AM

OMFG YESSSSS. DLING NOW

Triple A 12-15-2003 12:54 AM

OMFG LISTENED TO THE FIRST 2 TRACKS. MARKING OUT. SO GOOD

Kane Knight 12-15-2003 12:54 AM

Well, the vox are iffy, but that's what you get on a 3 day pass. It'd be interesting to see what you could do with more time and a better setup.

Ummmm...One question though...Do you guys have trouble with tempo?

mitchables 12-15-2003 01:00 AM

Hahaha, yeah, actually. We speed up a fair bit. We're aware of it. I don't know why we do it, but yeah. It's something to work on.

I have trouble doing that on piano.

I don't know why on piano only. I found out for sure when I played to a metronome. I got like 6 1/3 measures ahead of myself...

I also have the problem of trusting my guitarist on the tempo. Sometimes a big mistake. God we need a drummer.

Anyways, enough about my failings. IT's not exactly my cup of tea, but you guys done good for a quickie demo.

Triple A 12-15-2003 01:05 AM

K just finished listening. So good considering they were demos. You remind me of Straylight Run or Taking Back Sunday.

Your screaming ****ing rules.

Thanks man, I appreciate the honest feedback. The guy who recorded us has told us we're welcome to free hours to fix up whatever we want because he really has taken a shining to us. He wants to take us around all the schools in Townsville and sort of push us as "Townsville's band", because out of all the band's he's recorded he said we have the most new/different sound or whatever, being that the main music scene here consists of generic rock and death metal. :-\

 Haha, thanks dude. :D Hopefully we'll record some live stuff soon as well, we're putting on a show on January 23 with some other local bands, so it should be good. :y:

Head 12-15-2003 01:21 AM

Not bad at all.

Really like The Arc of the Moon. Should put it on kazaa.

Triple A 12-15-2003 02:10 AM

Yeah and label it by some big band's name so a bunch of people download it thinking it's the band, and then they find out it's not and get pissed, but you still get listened to by people. :shifty:

mitchables 12-15-2003 02:14 AM

OH YEAH, in Poptastic, when we all say, "Jump!", Peder says "Lunch!"

And in Exterior Contract, instead of screaming "I'll kill this all before I sleep", I want to make it "I've got a flight at 12:03". :shifty:

We want to mess with people's heads so there are different versions of the lyrics on the internet and people fight over it. :shifty:

If you had a cd in the shops, and I had just illegally downloaded those songs off the net, I would go out and buy it as soon as I could.

Good stuff :y:

I really like Paper City Sound Scape

Tornado 12-15-2003 06:53 PM

Just listened to 1,000 Miles.....pretty damn good..

SpanishFlea 12-15-2003 06:57 PM

don't quite fancy the singing but i heart your screaming

MoRcHeEbA 12-15-2003 07:29 PM

wow, you guys sound wicked, kind of like a cross between TBS and Straylight run

Ninti the Mad 12-15-2003 07:36 PM

Pretty good.

Ninti the Mad 12-15-2003 07:40 PM

You sound kinda like old ATD-I.

diothoir 12-15-2003 09:14 PM

Downloaded the first 2 songs, and will get the rest tomorrow.

Arc of the Moon - music is class, not too keen on the vocals, but still pretty damn good. Put it like this, I have three songs on my playlist at the moment and this is one of them.

Thousand Miles - Don't like this one as much, but not bad. Pretty good transition.

I'd like to see what you could do with more time though. :y:

asphyXy 12-16-2003 02:41 PM

You play piano? Kewl, how long you been playing for?

I play, using the ones at school, and I'm saving up to buy myself a huge big 'un :D

DegenerationY 12-16-2003 05:15 PM

I have this song by Wishful Thinking called The Mall.

Wasn't that yours from back in the day?

From what I remember, Mitch was only sort of a stand in bassist for that lot. :(

Yeah, I was in a ska band when Wishful Thinking were around, but I was good mates with them all. Their bassist got really sick with Ross River Fever for about 2 months, so I bassed for them during that time, during which they recorded the CD.
