whos gonna die this year?

flair? Angle? Terry funk? Cena(hopefully)

#BROKEN Hasney 01-01-2009 06:05 AM

You honestly think if Cena died the product would be better? Batista would wrestle in his memory or some shit.

My moneys on Savage. I hope for a death-free year, but I doubt that's possible.

Dorkchop 01-01-2009 11:49 AM

I predict that someone who wrestled at least somewhat regularly in the original ECW will die this year.

Kane Knight 01-01-2009 11:54 AM

Mixe Knox in a tragic beard-related fatality.

Gertner 01-01-2009 11:58 AM

Iron Shiek

Anybody Thrilla 01-01-2009 11:59 AM

Jake Roberts

BigDaddyCool 01-01-2009 12:28 PM

I'm guessing Chyna and or X-Pac.

On the other hand Saturn will show up alive and healthy.

Blue Demon 01-01-2009 12:35 PM

Jeff Hardy

Rammsteinmad 01-01-2009 12:40 PM

Vince McMahon. Again.

Juan 01-01-2009 12:51 PM

Mae Young, obviously.

What were 08's deaths, anyways? It doesn't seem to have been the bloodbath that '07 was...

AKin3D 01-02-2009 06:38 AM

Jake Roberts , X-Pac, and Mae Young for sure Lex Luger,

As for Randoms: Piper: I just get that feeling when I see him.

Matt Hardy or anyone one that hangs out over that the Hardy House: From alcohol poisoning to any other alcohol related death.

Cena: Murder Happens.

Kane Knight 01-02-2009 10:04 AM

Cena will overcome the odds.

JT 01-02-2009 01:06 PM

looking at that list, not alot of young guys died this year. Most of them appear to be in the 60-70 age range.

Legend Killer 01-03-2009 10:42 AM

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan; I wish that it wasn't going to happen though.

In other news, Undertaker was Buried Alive at Survivor Series by Mr. McMahon. Only after the match, Vince McMahon was struck by lightning. Coincidence? I think not.

Mr. Nerfect 01-05-2009 02:24 AM

Does anyone else get a little sick placing unofficial bets like this?

I thought Raw was great both times Cena was gone. Orton took over in '07 and Jericho took over in '08. Fantastic.

Cena's not the problem, but the WWE is obviously intent on using him as their main guy, when the fans have quite clearly shown that they want a mixture of top talent, not one guy as their franchise.

As for the death list:
Mae Young, maybe.
Iron Sheik wouldn't surprise me.

Lux 01-05-2009 04:14 AM

I asked you a question

NeanderCarl 01-05-2009 10:23 PM

Mae Young is only NOW showing her age in the last couple years. It wasn't that long ago she was taking powerbombs through tables off the entrance ramp from Bubba Dudley. Well, okay, 9 years. But still... she was ancient then! I think she's got a decade left. (Coulda said the same thing about Moolah though...)

As for my tips:

some of the longterm heavy steroid guys... Hogan, McMahon, Warlord, Scott Steiner, Kane...

some of the old frail guys still wrestling regularly when they really probably shouldn't... Bill Eadie, Greg Valentine, Bob Armstrong, Terry Funk...

some of the out-of-shape fat guys whose hearts are ready to burst... One Man Gang, Kamala, Typhoon, Jim Ross, Dusty Rhodes, Blue Meanie, Abdullah The Butcher...

some of the classic substance abusers who are still partying hard into their twilight years... Sheik, Flair, Jake Roberts, Scott Hall, Michael Hayes, Marty Jannetty, Brian Knobs, Waltman, Chyna...

and some guys who have either suffered health issues, or have already had a good innings... Gene Okerlund, Bobby Heenan, Piper, Mae (go on then), Verne Gagne, Blackjack Mulligan...

Not gonna stake my reputation on any of them, but not one name on the list above would surprise me.

NeanderCarl 01-05-2009 10:26 PM

Doesn't mean I'd be any less sad to see any of the above leave this mortal coil.

Dorkchop 01-05-2009 10:39 PM

I wouldn't call Kane a long term heavy steroid guy. He's obviously not on roids currently and he's still huge. I find it odd how you mentioned him and not HHH, Taker, Austin, or anyone else. I highly doubt he'll die this year or any time until he's an old man (unless he gets some sort of old person disease).

I still stand by my prediction of an at least somewhat ECW regular will die this year.

Most people are not as thin-skinned as you, Noid. However, there are enough that are that people are pretty much forced to walk on eggshells....

PorkSoda 01-05-2009 10:42 PM

You guys are horible. Predicting whos gonna die and hoping that people will die :nono:

Matt Hardy is gonna die. With all the "I will NOT die" talk he'll jinx himself.

Just to say, the people who go off steroids are at a higher risk. However, Kane's always had a bit of weight on him atypical of a steroid user, so I wouldn't put him down as a heavy candidate. That doesn't completely rule him out (see also: Funaki), but it does make abuse seem significantly less likely.

NeanderCarl 01-07-2009 11:00 PM

The difference between his physical stature now, as opposed to the mid 90s-2003 makes it highly likely that Kane was using steroids during that period of time.

You can't totally discount the idea that perhaps injuries have made it harder for him to train and maintain his prior condition, but just compare the photos... it's fairly obvious really.

Okay, I named Kane and omitted the likes of HHH... maybe unreasonably singling out Kane above other more likely suspects, but if I named them all I'd be here all day.

Kane Knight 01-08-2009 12:34 AM

Kane's still got an impressive stature. His definition has been changed, but it mostly looks like he's just carrying a little more weight, which can be attributed to any number of things. Along with that, the lack of telltale signs makes me think it's less likely. Doesn't mean he didn't, it does make me more skeptical of him than, say, Cena/Edge/Trips.
