Braves get Bonifacio, Russell, and some loot from the Cubs for a minor league catcher prospect. Good trade for the Braves, I guess.
Have to wait til after next season for them to do anything decent I guess as we are still stuck paying Dan Uggla 13 million/year to sit at home unemployed. That bastard. |
no moves by Toronto, cannot say I am surprised...fairweather fans are bitching about the lack of movement, but they are not ready yet....
I feel like I should type words about the A's and Dbacks trades but I dunno. whatever

I'm all for just dumping Colby Rasmus at this point. |
the orioles have played 7 straight 1 run games (5-2) which is getting annoying
Was it last year or two years ago when they had some ridiculous record in 1-run games
Brilliant pitching displays going on in Queens right now between the Mets and Giants. Zeros across the board for BOTH teams through six.
Jim Thome signed a 1-day contract with the Indians and calls it a career.
22 seasons, 612 homers, feared hitter, clean. I think he'll get into the hall of fame without a problem. Only thing that'll hold him back is no world series titles. |
Jim Thome was one of my favorite players. Bummed he never won a ring, but he should be a lock for the Hall regardless.

the offense is fucking putrid right now, hitting about .190 in July/August and yet by the power of their pitching they're 19-9 in that stretch and are back up 3.5 on Toronto with a huge series in Toronto coming up this week. |
Busy news day.
Nats acquire Matt Thornton from the Yankees. Who/what New York is getting in exchange is unknown at this time. The search for Bud Selig's successor has been narrowed down to 3. MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred, MLB vice president of business Tim Bronson and Red Sox chairman Tom Werner. Voting goes down at next week's owners quarterly meetings. Finally, 1-year to the day, feds do another round of arrests in the Biogenesis scandal. With Tony Bosch surrendering to the feds today. Word going around is that there are more players involved than originally thought and there could be more suspensions coming down in the near future. |
Irrationally excited to see Price's Tigers debut tonight

Javy Baez time. I rely on prospects for excitement because my team sucks.
Even though we were pbping it, feel the need to discuss how cool it was to see Joba in a Tigers uniform with a vicious-ass beard bean the crap outta Jeter last night
Padres hire Rangers asst. GM A.J Preller as their new GM.
Kim Ng gets spurned again. |
Her lack of any real experience in identifying, scouting, drafting and developing amateur talent works against her.

Roberto Hernandez put on waivers by the Phillies, claimed by the Dodgers. PHI to get to PTBNL or cash money. Of course he's gone now that he's won his last three decisions.
Also Cole Hamels claimed by "mystery team." Oooooohhhhh |
Javier Baez is my daddy!
RP should be happy that mystery team that claimed Hamels was the cubs
Lester is looking really good through 5
Lester is going to dominate in the AL West
Mets finally DFA Chris Young.
Thank god. What a waste of $7.5 million. |
Caleb Joseph has homered in 5 straight games for the Orioles. Matt Wieters who?
Ooof. Red Sox and Angels went 19 innings last night. 6.5 hour game.
Travis Wood I'd pitching a no hitter today.

Tigers/Jays game today was insane. We lost but it was a fantastic game. Feel for the jays, having to go through our murderers row of pitching, play that 19 inning ge, then fly to Seattle to face king Felix. Ouch.
Jays will win. You watch.
aside from being worried about Machado, great night for the O's 11-3, 7 up on the Yankees
Can't wait to watch BUCK FARMER toss the ball on Wednesday

Been watching baseball since I am off a bit. Jays aren't doing too poorly but that flub on first in the 9th sealed it against Seattle.
absolutely amazing 8th inning for the Os, down 2-1 Schoop hits another Homer vs the Yankees to tie it of Betances and then Adam Jones hits a 3 run homer to give em the lead.
Nationals beat the Mets at Citi Field for the 10th straight time. They are now 42-16 vs. the Mets since the 2011 All Star Break.
The latter is a fucking ridiculous stat. Probably historic. |
