Game of Thrones - SPOILERS INSIDE

Has anyone been watching this? I've just watched the first two episodes and It's pretty bloody good, Apparently it's based on a series of books called 'Stories of Fire and Ice' which I havn't read.

It's a bloody good program though I'm completely gripped and cannot wait till episode three. I kind of feel like I did at the beginning of Prison Break.

The acting, costumes and sets all look brilliant. Sean Bean is obviously great and theres some fit women and sex and nudity in it to.

I endorse this program and will gladly discuss it with all of you.

Requiem 04-29-2011 12:58 AM

Yes, it's been wonderful. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-29-2011 06:13 AM

If I had Sky Atlantic I would watch this show. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD.

Brigstocke 04-29-2011 09:02 AM

You could always d/l it illegally from the interweb or watch it on Daily Motion or something?

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-29-2011 09:33 AM

i will look into this

Brigstocke 04-29-2011 09:43 AM

If you have A torrent program there are plenty available.

I downloaded these ones

http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/2...01?tab=summary
http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/2...02?tab=summary

Both work well, You just need VLC Media player to view it due to most versions of Windows Media Player not recognising the file type/not having the correct codecs to run it.

You can get VLC Media Player here.

Requiem 04-29-2011 03:10 PM

Also, if you haven't watched it, watch Rome. Only 2 seasons, but it is .

Fignuts 04-29-2011 03:16 PM

Yeah, loved the first two episodes of this.

Buzzkill 04-29-2011 03:21 PM

Watched the first half of the first ep and really liked it, need to get on this "asap"

Nark Order 04-29-2011 03:21 PM

Almost done with the first book. I'm in a trance

Miotch 04-29-2011 03:25 PM

I'm almost through the 2nd book. I resisted reading Game of Thrones but I now love it.

Narc, who is your favorite character?

CSL 04-29-2011 03:30 PM

Missus bums it being a history teacher and all that, 'right up her street'. I've caught bits, the blonde bird looks great with no clothes on.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-29-2011 03:34 PM

Pics or GTFO ...:shifty:

CSL 04-29-2011 03:44 PM

download the show El Techphobo de Infierno

looks like this with clothes on

It's really a tough call, to be honest. There is so much character development in this fucking book. There isn't one character that I really "dread" or anything when there's a chapter in their POV. Some of the Catelyn chapters are a bit dry, but usually end on some fantastic cliffhanger.

This might be a bit of an odd choice, but the Daenerys chapters probably hold my interest the very most. The way she transformed from this scared little helpless girl to the feisty wife and "keeper" (of sorts) of a blood thirsty Doth'Raki savage was pretty tremendous and it happened so quickly. The way her relationship with Viserys basically flip flopped over night was a pretty cool element to the story. She was scared to death of him and respected his "power" for the first part of her entire life...and now... not so much.

Also, Tyrion is a little shithead and I love him.

Brigstocke 04-30-2011 02:02 AM

Tyrion is the shining beacon of greatness in the first two episodes.

whiteyford 04-30-2011 04:36 PM

Is the series following the books closely so far, fancy reading them now but i don't want to spoil the series for myself if that makes sense?

St. Jimmy 04-30-2011 06:50 PM

Fantastic so far.

The Destroyer 05-02-2011 04:00 PM

Seen the first two and I'm just about to watch episode 3. Excellent stuff so far.

Good cast as well.

Brigstocke 05-03-2011 01:03 AM

Jolly good show, I hope Tyrion isn't killed off now over this dagger business.....

Downunder 05-05-2011 06:15 AM

Yep, three episodes in and I'm hooked (actually I was hooked at the end of the first episode)

Requiem 05-05-2011 07:57 PM

Where the hell did my other post go in here?

Requiem 05-16-2011 03:17 AM

Just bumping this thread to say holy fucking balls that was an awesome episode (ep 5)

Miotch 05-16-2011 01:39 PM

Yeah that was pretty fucking incredible.

Brigstocke 05-17-2011 03:31 AM

Best episode yet. It all seems to be coming together at the series midway point here.

Snowden 05-19-2011 12:58 AM

Amazing amazing show...best thing HBO has put out in quite some time.

Brigstocke 05-20-2011 01:02 AM

Since Sex in The City no less. :shifty:

I think we should all start using characters from the show as avatars and having their names as Customer titles like all the 'Ghostbusters' ones from a while ago in a daft attempt at growing the 'cult' of people watching from the boards.

Snowden 05-20-2011 02:18 AM

I was thinking the same thing, but going w/ the different houses instead. Though if I'm going character, Jon Snow is mine.

Regardless, here's where we'd go: http://www.hbo.com/#/game-of-thrones...d/avatars.html

Requiem 05-20-2011 02:18 AM

Done.

Brigstocke 05-20-2011 02:36 AM

Epic lads, Epic.

Snowden 05-20-2011 02:36 AM

Done as well, though mildly sad to see Req's avatar gone.

Brigstocke 05-20-2011 02:44 AM

Here you go Narc,

The Destroyer 05-20-2011 04:02 PM

Good episode, as always. :y:

Good idea on the avatar thing. Who to choose though?

Requiem 05-20-2011 04:55 PM

Your current avatar makes me think of either The Mountain or The Hound

You are Khal Drogo.

Miotch 05-20-2011 06:56 PM

I'll claim The Kingslayer though I'm not changing my avatar.

Brigstocke 05-21-2011 01:57 AM

Well then fuck you.

Fignuts 05-21-2011 02:00 AM

My avatar is far too iconic to change for a tv show.

Brigstocke 05-21-2011 02:35 AM

This TV show is too Iconic for your avatar more like.

Fignuts 05-21-2011 02:48 AM

Brigstocke, clearly misunderstanding the depths of my greatness.

Brigstocke 05-21-2011 03:05 AM

Brigstocke, clearing understanding the depths of your arse.

Requiem 05-21-2011 08:37 PM

Wish it was Sunday already cause I am pumped for the next episode. I have gotten a group of people hooked on this now. Been keeping the episodes on my flash drive and offering them to anyone that likes good TV. Gotten several hooked now.

Snowden 05-22-2011 01:01 AM

Really really torn about reading the books. I've bought them, but I dunno when I want to start them. I figure I'll love the books, but I love the series as well...which one do I spoil? :(

Requiem 05-22-2011 01:50 AM

The season is supposed to cover the entire first book. Next season, the next.. etc.. So I would just wait till each season to read a book or something.

Brigstocke 05-22-2011 02:34 AM

I've got Mrs Stocke and Her mum and a few of the lads at work watching, I downloaded torrents of the first five episodes and handed them out on discs at work.

Brigstocke 05-23-2011 07:48 AM

Just watched this weeks episode, downloaded it because I couldn't wait till it airs here tonight.

Best one yet, the scene with the skydoor was amazing and Tyrion was absolutely brilliant. The scenes involving the Doth'Raki were great, they really set them apart as savages with the rituals they performed and a surprise death aswell.

Miotch 05-23-2011 02:04 PM

Another amazing episode, though I kind of wish I hadn't read the book. Knowing what's coming takes something away. I dunno.

They handled the crowning fucking amazingly though.

Requiem 05-23-2011 04:36 PM

Awesome episode again. Glad I haven't read the book yet. Going to read the first after this season probably, though if I love it I might have a problem keeping from reading the rest before the rest of the show airs.

Miotch 05-23-2011 05:07 PM

For those of you who haven't read the books, who do you think is the next major character to get offed?

Miotch 05-23-2011 05:08 PM

Also I recommend reading the books. They're phenomenal, and I'm still thoroughly enjoying the show.

I just started the 3rd book and am 10 chapters in or so.

Nark Order 05-23-2011 05:16 PM

Miotch snoozed and now all the Kingslayers are belong to us.

Miotch 05-23-2011 05:44 PM

I claimed it, though I refuse to change my avatar because it is awesome.

Miotch 05-23-2011 05:44 PM

So really that's just like my sloppy seconds there narc

The Destroyer 05-23-2011 05:52 PM

Another great episode.

Bit annoyed about the death, but oh well. Shit happens.

Miotch 05-23-2011 05:58 PM

Why does that death annoy you? That always seemed like an inevitability to me.

The Destroyer 05-23-2011 06:09 PM

Hmm.

SPOILER: show
I actually quite liked Viserys. Not sure why, I just liked how pathetic and needy he came across and I've always liked Harry Lloyd as an actor. I was fully expecting him to die eventually, just a shame it had to come so soon. Suppose he went out in style at least.

Corporate CockSnogger 05-25-2011 05:12 PM

Gave the first episode a watch following Brigstockes reccomendation.

While it didn't grab me in like pilots of other shows that I love(d), it did interest me enough for me to check out the next couple of episodes. I'll form a proper opinion after a couple more episodes. Am I right in saying there's 6 episodes out at the moment?

The blonde bird is fit.

Miotch 05-25-2011 05:14 PM

6, yes, but I believe 7 is floating around the internet as well.

4 knuckles up 05-27-2011 10:05 AM

Good lord I love this show. Gutted Viserys died, such a well acted character. The Imp steals just about every scene he's in. Sean Bean is reliably good... Oh, and i've been really impressed with all the child actors, too. Particularly the youngest Stark child. Spot on!

/Hopefully my new picture of Bronn is up, too!

Miotch 05-27-2011 02:36 PM

I don't think you've actually seen much of the youngest Stark child, though I assume you mean Arya who is the 2nd youngest.

The Destroyer 05-27-2011 04:41 PM

Yeah ok, I'll join in. But not as Brigstocke's choice. :(

Requiem 05-27-2011 04:46 PM

Miotch is too lame to sit with the cool kids at lunch. This thread is almost completely full of win, just looking at everyone's avatars. :)

I think Catelyn, Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark and Uncle Benjin will all die eventually, but I think Littlefinger may be next.

I'm guessing the books carry on over a large time frame and as the story progresses some of the younger characters like Joffrey, The Younger Stark children and Catelyn's Nephew who still sucks booby will be replaced with older actors for future seasons?

Nark Order 05-28-2011 01:19 PM

Just posting for avatar sequence.

Brigstocke 05-28-2011 03:00 PM

We really need a Khal Drogo.

Requiem 05-29-2011 01:12 AM

Would have picked him had I not chosen The Imp. Looking forward to seeing him slaughter people at some point. Hoping it happens this season and that I don't have to wait.

Downunder 05-30-2011 09:51 AM

Just saw the 7th episode - holy shit, this series just gets better and better.

The Destroyer 05-30-2011 10:03 AM

Downunder saves the day.

Boomer 05-30-2011 10:25 AM

The book is really worth reading, and I don't think they could be doing any better considering the length of the source material. What they've changed or omitted mostly makes sense.

Still some crazy shit to go, my friends.

The Destroyer 05-30-2011 10:49 AM

I've got no desire to read the books while the show is still on the air. I'd rather be surprised.

Maybe a few years down the line once the series is over, I'll look at reading them.

Dark-Slicer Diago 05-30-2011 10:57 AM

I agree with Destroyer, I'll read the books after the series ends.

Requiem 05-30-2011 11:02 AM

Wow, show is fucking intense.

SPOILER: show
Knew little finger couldn't be trusted.

Boomer 05-30-2011 04:07 PM

Well the first book is almost over anyway, so you might as well read it after the finale while you wait for the second "season".

The Destroyer 05-30-2011 05:07 PM

Far too much backstabbing and betrayal going on here.

Only 3 more episodes to go. :(

Brigstocke 05-31-2011 03:06 AM

Simply brilliant. Little Stocke has the first book on hi shopping list for fathers day.

St. Jimmy 05-31-2011 04:47 AM

I kind of want all episodes of this show to be over and done, all seasons. I hate waiting and just want to watch it from start to finish right now.

This show makes me feel like:
http://weirdtaste.com/img/i_came_3.jpg

Snowden 05-31-2011 01:26 PM

Just finished watching episode 7...the build to the climax (pardon the sequential posting pun) of the story has absolutely been brilliant. Very very curious to see when the White Walkers play a role in things up at the wall.

We've got White Walkers and Khal Drogo both making their way to King's landing, and an absolute storm of shit in the capital. When all these three things converge...madness

Miotch 05-31-2011 05:33 PM

<iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rxLOXUGmRKI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Amazing.

Snowden 05-31-2011 07:20 PM

Love how Joffrey sounds like such a little pansy bitch.

Requiem 06-01-2011 12:52 PM

Literally got chills when Khal Drogo went on his tirade. Wasn't sure how I felt about his voice at the beginning of the show, but it is totally fitting and he is a serious mofo.

Dark-Slicer Diago 06-01-2011 05:41 PM

For those who don't know, Khal Drogo is Conan The Barbarian now.

Corporate CockSnogger 06-03-2011 11:41 AM

Want to carry on watching this but I hate watching stuff online.

4 knuckles up 06-03-2011 02:12 PM

Bit torrent has been excellent for me. Some eztv uploader on pirate bay is what I use. Great picture / sound quality, and quick enough for me to watch on monday night.

Brigstocke 06-04-2011 03:37 AM

I've relentled and started reading the books.

Just finished the first hundred or so pages, (where the first TV episode finished)

Here are some points I'd like to make.

* Robb Stark and Jon Snow look nothing like 14 years of age on the TV Show.
* In watching the show I wasn't aware of 'Rickon' the youngest Stark child.
* I thought Theon was the 5th Stark Child (It hasn't been put across in the show very well how a Greyjoy came to be living with the Starks. Although maybe that will come later when it has more relevance)
* It's after reading this section of the first book that I realise how well Mark Addy captured Robert Baratheon.
* I concur with Narc, The Daenerys chapters are fabulous.

Boomer 06-05-2011 11:05 AM

All the children were made older in the TV series by a few years per Martin's suggestions - much easier to find good actors that way. Rickon is in the TV series, but he's not really important to anything considering how young he is. Theon gets much more explanation in the second book.

RP 06-05-2011 12:54 PM

thinking about getting hbo again to watch this. I know nothing about it tbh. I wish they put The Wire back on demand

Brigstocke 06-06-2011 04:40 PM

Your boy Drogo just ripped Mago's Larynx clean off. Epic Times.

The Destroyer 06-06-2011 05:04 PM

I love this show so much.

That bit at the start with Forel was just brilliant. :'(

RoXer 06-06-2011 05:23 PM

Skipped down to the quick reply box to tell everyone here that I can't wait to watch this. I'll dl it once the entire season is over. Then I'll post my thoughts along with you guys. Might even change my avatar to join your super cool club. Can't wait. Love you

If you subscribe to HBO and you're provider isn't Time Warner you can get HBOGO for free. It has every episode of the wire available to stream from your laptop or ipad or whatever.

Requiem 06-06-2011 06:16 PM

Just do it now Roxer and get started. There are only a couple episodes left in the season.

RoXer 06-06-2011 06:25 PM

Can't wait to read that post that Requiem made. Not gunna read it though, it could have spoilers. I hope he addresses me in it though.

Requiem 06-06-2011 06:29 PM

Don't be Kalyx 2.0

RoXer 06-06-2011 06:32 PM

Nah, I'm gunna dl this and "The Killing" once they're done and once I've finished Six Feet Under.

Requiem 06-07-2011 01:54 PM

Also, about the most recent episode.

Everything is just happening so quickly now. I love it. Not sure how much they're going to get done in this season, but I just know I'm going to be dying for next season as soon as this is over. Love the dire wolves. Syrio Forel is a badass, and I seriously hope he is not dead. My friends and I all heard a metal sword drop, or clang against stone.. soooo, they left it open with not showing us what happened.

So, Rob Stark told the scout they were headed straight for Tywin. In reality, they're going for Jaime and the River Lords.

White walkers.. geez. Gonna be hell on earth the moment they get past the wall. I foresee a dragon coming into play somewhere in this series. No way they were foreshadowing so much with the eggs and talking about it if there isn't going to be one. I see a dragon being what saves them from the white walkers.

Brigstocke 06-08-2011 11:23 AM

Nevermind all that buddy.

Look at this

<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0HqdSjdtPAQ" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" width="560"></iframe>

Also, excellent quote from Tyrion this week.

Shagar - How do you want to die half-man?
Tyrion - In my bed when I'm 80 years old with a belly full of wine and a girls mouth around my cock.

Miotch 06-08-2011 03:00 PM

Shagga*

Brigstocke 06-09-2011 01:11 AM

Sry m8, I havn't got that far into the book yet to not have to guess at the spelling. The book is fantasmic so far though.

Brigstocke 06-09-2011 02:38 AM

How did it take a TV show for me to know of this book?

Literally read 3/4 of it last night up to where we are on TV.

I strongly recommend everyone reading it, I will even snail mail my copy to somebody once I'm done if there are any takers?
