Should WWE turn their current talent woes into a storyline?

I was just thinking about what WWE could possibly do to make their programming interesting. It often gives me a headache and is completely disengaging. It's quite hard to muster up the "fantasy" to fantasy book WWE these days.

The biggest angle WWE has at their disposal is Vince vs. Triple H -- Control of the Company. Or some variant. Maybe Shane in the Vince spot to fight over future control.

WWE have got a bunch of talent locked up that they absolutely aren't going to release. A lot of people have suggested NXT for them. That feels...retrograde. Part of me is wondering if the most interesting thing WWE could do is carve out their own spot and have Triple H rebel against Vince and start his own promotion. Maybe the angle could be that Triple H has successfully filed for the expiring WCW trademark, or something. Talent that want to jump ship are permitted to do so. Luke Harper, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, The Revival, Cesaro, Apollo Crews, Rusev, Lana, Shinsuke Nakamura, Chad Gable, Matt Hardy and Bobby Roode are the first names announced for the WCW move. The Big Show goes back to being The Giant for special occasions. Then the shocker -- Daniel Bryan moves over. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are promoted from NXT to do commentary. They get to use a different production team. The Undisputed Era move up and Tyler Breeze gets a call. Fandango can show up with a new gimmick.

Alright, maybe don't call it WCW, but I think something should differentiate it from main roster WWE. They can keep Raw and SmackDown doing what they do, because that is going to happen anyway. But now you have somewhere to triangulate talent. Kofi gets screwed out of the belt? He can jump to WCW for a few years. They can run their own live specials for the WWE Network, cut down the length of WWE ones and still, theoretically, make up for digital content hours lost. And because it's technically in the WWE's realm, they can use trademarks and maybe do their own Royal Rumble in the fall to build up for a Starrcade (or call it World War 3 but don't use the three rings and certainly not 60 men).

Could clear up the clutter on the main roster, bring in WWE some more revenue should they land a TV spot, maybe cultivate a different fan-base and jump start a little interest in main roster WWE if it can find itself a clear vision. If you want to do a draft, instead of doing a Raw/SmackDown one, do a WWE/WCW one, with Triple H and Vince taking turns picking NXT talent.

Theoretically, you could do this with Raw/SmackDown, but it just seems so rigid up there. Vince and Kevin Dunn don't seem ready to give up their spots. They're not going to give up the third hour of Raw, so even with a fresh coat, that shows going to be fatiguing and is just something they are riding out for as long as they can.

More content seems like a bad idea, but I think they need to do something to shake off the malaise and get people talking, as well as focus on talent in different ways. There needs to be WWE programming without Vince that is purposefully without Vince, which is not going to happen because of Vince. So it almost has to be extra, if that makes sense? NXT and 205 Live are shows he apparently butts out of. Would it be more plausible to get Vince to stay out of a main roster product that is extra, as opposed to getting him to step aside and cut his personal workload down?

Maybe Vince is going to be stepping aside with the XFL anyway. But they can't go onto FOX with that being primary programming Vince is going to be obsessed with. I think it might be more likely that Vince abandons Raw and Triple H gets a three-hour show which no one will be able to succeed with.

I dunno. I don't have faith in them to do anything right. Maybe I'm just sad because I think WWE has to be its own enemy to get good.

You forget, they don't do storylines anymore because Vince has forgotten how to write any.

This is true.

When does AEW come on?

God no. That instantly took me back to The New Blood vs The Millionaires in WCW.

So bad, Billy Kidman going over Terry Bollea smh.

Mr. Nerfect 05-05-2019 12:58 AM

Lol, I wasn't suggesting anything like that, but ok.
