Major

SPOILER: show
was doing the final boss. Easy enough time. running 3/4 b team. Get him down to 30k and i nearly get full wiped. Well i say no worries ive got 3/4 a team and he's basically dead. So i tank the damage instead of healing.

Game over.

WHAT. This means that team 1 must beat this guy and then team 2 must face another seperate boss.

Oh and i get to redo the 8 boss prior since there isnt a save... fuck

He beat me strictly because i let him thinking i had 4 travelers waiting.

Destor 08-13-2018 12:03 AM

Got my b team to 70. Got them all the good passives as well. Gonna try this again tomorrow

Sepholio 08-13-2018 01:50 AM

Where did you get them up? I'm thinking that level 58 dungeon is probably the best bet. Obviously use the exp boost passive from warmaster.

Destor 08-13-2018 08:28 AM

Lvl58 dungeon

Xp boost passive + xp boost item
Jp boost passive + jp boost item

Destor 08-13-2018 08:29 AM

Dancer beffudling dance x8

Destor 08-13-2018 09:29 AM

recommend a merchant to speed things up and a thief to keep the sp flowing. You should be able to get the 100x xp and/or jp on top of double xp/jp from passives and gear pretty quickly if you have dancer/cleric with a either x2 merchants or merchant/starseer. Just make sure your merchant ISNT the cleric or the dancer for obvious reasons.

I know some people who bought those

Destor 08-13-2018 05:08 PM

$115

Ultra Mantis 08-13-2018 05:26 PM

Just for some stickers?

Ultra Mantis 08-13-2018 05:28 PM

I need to grind my b-team up so much, might take a while. Is there anywhere Caits spawn more frequently? Seemed like I was getting a bunch in the Forest of No Return / Maw of the Ice Dragon so might give that a go instead of Purgation.

Destor 08-13-2018 06:00 PM

You're the second person to tellnme maw of the ice dragon had a good cait spawn rate...

Destor 08-13-2018 06:05 PM

Personally i think its anecdotal and its an rng shit show

Sepholio 08-13-2018 07:08 PM

It is RNG af. The only thing I think may be intentional about them is that (for me at least) they tend to show up far more frequently in early game areas than in the late game. It would make sense considering when you happen upon them early on they can be rather frustrating to take down before they flee, especially when their high speed gives them the first turn and pretty much guarantees your shit out of luck. Later on you can one shot them with ease. Dunno tho, prob still all RNG.

You can also use the method Destor described up there with the bewildering dance. One of the random side effects given off by the skill is that it will transform enemies in the battle into caits. I'm personally going for the x100 xp/jp boosts that dance can give you though. Potential for over 100k exp per battle is very appealing. I'm hoping for the extra luck of pulling that effect and then the enemies transforming into fat caits before I kill them. Insta-bajillion levels lol.

Ultra Mantis 08-13-2018 07:09 PM

Was getting multiple Caits most battles for the short time I was in there, Chubby Cait, 2x Cultured Cait and a wolf. Fat ones always ran away, need pre-emptive to kill them I guess.

if I go back and get none then yeah definitely.

Ultra Mantis 08-13-2018 08:32 PM

Wandered around the maw for around 30 mins, found the Cait party twice though instead of a wolf I got a Snow Drake and then a Snow Leopard. The Leopard has a self heal so once I wiped out all three Caits with Sorcerer Prim's first move I got a good 10 mins on the Leopard just Bewildering Gracing constantly before RNG did four damage moves in a row and killed it. In that time I stacked a bunch of x2 multipliers and came out with 20k EXP, 5k JP. Not bad,

Also the dungeon boss keeps appearing as a random encounter and he gives nice EXP too. Pretty good levelling spot. Runelord Tressa is all you need for sustain. Another merchant for extra donate BP speeds things up on the Bewildering Grace front, but I've only been using that on Cait battles tbf.

Ultra Mantis 08-13-2018 08:51 PM

Fought 3 more Cait parties since last post. Pretty good.

Destor 08-13-2018 09:18 PM

Trying the final boss again

Destor 08-13-2018 09:18 PM

If i strike out ill come back at 99

Destor 08-13-2018 09:19 PM

Clue me in when yall do yhe end game i wanna talk lore

Destor 08-13-2018 09:21 PM

Also ive got H'aanit doing 160k in a round now lol

Ruien 08-13-2018 09:29 PM

You shouldn't lose again.

Destor 08-13-2018 09:33 PM

I only lost because i didnt know how the fight worked. I let him beat me because i thought it was one thing but it was another.

Ive done my party differently though and i may lose just due to taking a gamble.

Couple more days for me probably. Got like 3 more chapter 4s, the end game sidequests and the ending. I am totes down for this discussion too as I've started seeing the connecting threads between the different stories...and I rather like it. I already wish they went in harder on this overall story because it seems really good from what I've seen so far.

Destor 08-13-2018 11:01 PM

I will reserve my comments

Been doing the first phase for 90 min. I knew i was going into turtle strats but this is a bit much lol

Destor 08-13-2018 11:51 PM

I lost. Had no response for desperation attacks. I think i have a good idea how to handle it but will require reworking my entire party.

Will grind to 99 first.

Destor 08-13-2018 11:58 PM

Not to be reactionary but this may be the most difficult fight in any jrpg ive ever played. Its not unfair though. I think it just takes a very precise team.

Sepholio 08-14-2018 12:05 AM

ooooh me likey the sound of that.

Destor 08-14-2018 12:05 AM

Feel real confident about the 3rd attempt will do it tho

Ultra Mantis 08-14-2018 09:56 PM

Grinded up to Lv70-75 for everyone and kitted them out. If I have to run two teams my balanced set up would be:

Tressa Runelord
H'aanit Warmaster
Ophilia Starseer
Cyrus Thief

Primrose Sorcerer
Alfyn Warrior
Olberic Cleric
Therion Hunter

Going to see how easily this big boss can wreck me tomorrow.

Sepholio 08-14-2018 10:01 PM

I have chapter 4 for H'aanit left and then a few quests and I'll be ready to give it a go.

Destor 08-14-2018 10:30 PM

Grinding in ice maw for about 2 hours. 0 caits.

Destor 08-15-2018 10:26 AM

I think all 4 of us have the hidden sub jobs so I'll skip the spoiler warnings and just say I encluded them.

Going to rank the classes:

12.
SPOILER: show
Warrior - I think putting this at the bottom will catch heat but I stand by it. The extra 50 attack passive and the 99,999 passive are the only reasons to use this class unless you have a spear based enemy. Its just not that great. Apoc has better single target AoE and single target damage excluding the divine skill which is very good for damage until you get the optional classes but i think this job just doesnt add any utility for a small damage increase. Olberic is great but only when you marry this kit with other (better) kits.

11.
SPOILER: show
Dancer - This class is good for farming. That is about it. Sp recovery passive is nice and dark damage is good for about 60 hours or so but by in large this class is best only put on primrose unless you have need of her divine skill. Ophilia as dancer can have some very useful applications against elemental bosses using Dancer divine plus reflect. Far too niche though.

10.
SPOILER: show
Theif- A lot of things hold this class back. Single target skills galore is a big one. All of the passive suck. Bottom of the bin in that regard. It it werent for its ability to funnel SP into the DPS classes it would be the last on the list but until you get Runelord this is a pretty vital class.

9.
SPOILER: show
Hunter - The class is good for multi bows and a nice AoE damage from Rain of Arrows but it deserves the spot due to Patience. A must have skill on every party member but especially true for your healers. All of its passive are very solid but it does get out classed by other classes.

8.
SPOILER: show
Scholar - Until late game this class is a must and while it is def left in the dust once you get get sorcerer the fact that its a staple for 60 hours or so of the game gets it a nod but late game though this kit is useless unless you're conserving SP. Since there is basically a better version of this class I cant put it any higher than this.

7.
SPOILER: show
Runelord - this set is only this high for one reason: it pairs with merchant in godly ways. the passives are mostly useless and the elemental buff aspects arent that great either. but buffs becoming AoEs is a spammable Dancer divine skill and that is broken in Tressa's hands. Donate BP, Rest and Sidestep are VERY powerful at this point. It also makes Apoc a viable healer but you will have to waste a round on occasion to make it happen.

6.
SPOILER: show
Starseerer - this kit sucks. Some ok moves and some I would never use. Pairs great with dancer's divine skill though. It has it's spot for the passives. BP eater is a must for all DPS and the double BP at the start of the battle paired with it makes farming and grinding a one turn ordeal. And having the ability to test for the 3 rare elemental types in one move is handy too.

5.
SPOILER: show
Apothecary - As a healer this class is basically trash. Though paired with runelord does make it better and the debuff clear is unique and really good as an AoE. it has great damage skills from the axe skills but none of those are why its in the top 5. The divine skill is the single best divine skill from the basic classes (and if it werent for Warmaster it would be the absolute best period.) Items as AoE is HUGE. Especially for the tough bosses.

4.
SPOILER: show
Merchant - Donate BP. Donate BP. DONATE BP. If this werent enough to crack the top 5 (it is) she also has the very high utility of hired help plus some very good passive. SP saver and ...endure? The survive KO passive. Top class set. Plus MONIES.

3.
SPOILER: show
Sorcerer - If you need nukes we got nukes. Pretty broken class. Triple hit all elementals is killer and lowering elemental def makes it even better. Passive leave a lot to be desired but the kit makes up for it in big ways.

2.
SPOILER: show
Warmaster - lolthisissoopwtfweretheythinkingifuckingloveitomg for real...what a fucking DPS class. Great options for multi hit breaking massive damage even without the divine skill and quality passives even if theyre a bit situational. You can deal 60k or so pretty easy per divine skill. It has no equal in DPS.

1.
SPOILER: show
Cleric - No job can half do what this class does. AoE heals. AoE raise. Reflect. These are major skills that every party needs. This job is a must at all times at any part of the game. Saving Grace is probably the best passive in the game as well. Great divine skill too. This is THE must have class no matter what party you build.

Sepholio 08-15-2018 04:30 PM

Fighting the dire wolf now. My normal strategy is not very good in this battle. Keep getting wrecked :/

Destor 08-15-2018 04:32 PM

I cant offer my strat if you want it

Destor 08-15-2018 04:35 PM

Warmaster.

Merchant

Thief

Dancer

Have these 4 classes. Warmaster needs the warrior passive the breaks damage cap and needs bp eater from starseer.

Armor corrosive on dire wolf. Lion dance on war master. Feed bp to warmaster and cast the divine skill.

Should be able to kill it in round 1 or 2.

Destor 08-15-2018 04:37 PM

If youre doing a low level attempt bring saving grace on all cause itll take longer
