Yeah, homer picked the Sox this time... although, I wouldn't be shocked to see either the Sox or Yanks miss the playoffs, relying on 39/40yr old guys as your "Ace/#1 pitcher" is a gamble. |

just a little question for everyone, but do you think Toronto will be better or worse this year with the players they added (Hillenbrand and Koskie) even though they've lost Delgado?

Joey you crazy fella!

One can dream

Florida third, Arizona first, KC second, and Oakland in the World Series are kind of risky, but who knows maybe you will be the genius come next October. The A's could realistically get there, they once again have a big set of hot prospects, but I don't expect them to perform great until next year.

They improved the bullpen, the starting rotation will be better with a healthy Halliday and a matured Bush and Towers. Who knows with the offense. Wells and Hudson need to stay healthy. Rios will hopefully be better. Cat should start in left and send Johnson to the bench, which is where he should be. I have no idea what to expect from Hillenbrand, Zaun, Adams and Hinske. |

If Roger can do it another year and Pettite comes back to form after injury, they should have one of the best staffs in the league. |

compare that to: Prior, Zambrano, Wood, Maddux, and whoever the 5 guy will be. |
The fact that you think the Cubs have a chance makes me go "hahahahaha"

Because no outfield strikes fear into the hearts of competitors like Hollandsworth/Patterson/Burnitz

If you can't name one of the keys to the Astros playoff run "Brandon Backe" then you shouldn't try and pretend you know what you're talking about. That being said, Dave, I've learned a simple rule, when you pick a team and say they're going to win, it's usually a VERY safe bet they wont. I'm not sure if your a jinx, or just like to pray, maybe you take the long shot so the once out of 100times you're right you look like a genius since no one else picked them. That being said, you just flushed the cubs season down the toilet. Good job! |
Dave is THE goat.

yeah Dunn sure did have a bad year last year didn't he

That's fine, you don't have to know or care, but then you can't give an opinion on something you don't care/know about. |
I actually like Supremes having the Cubs in third. Last year was the Cubs year to do it and they choked. They kept all of their stars and added Maddux and Derek Lee, and they got completely blown away by the Cards. I don't see them doing any better this year, and now they don't have the momentum or anything. I don't think that right now there is a distinguished #2 team in the NL Central, it could be the Cubs, Stros, Reds, or even the Brewers.
Speaking of good staffs... Santana-Radke-Silva-Lohse-Mulholland-Mays/Nathan-Rincon-Romero-Balfour-Craine Top staff in the AL last season, all coming back with Joe Mays and prospects, bow down. |
My opinion on the Astros, last season it took a late miracle for them to make the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, anything can happen, so coming within one game of the World Series doesn't mean all that much. If they needed a giant burst of momentum to do it last year, I think that they lost too much in the offseason to be a legit contended this season.

No Beltran though, and aren't some of their key players getting real old now?
|
VEL he only missed about 17 starts. I think you're pushing it with 15

Their outfield sucks but thats what trades are for |
I want Derek Lee to be good again, he was the man on the Marlins
|
.280-100-32 is pretty good
|
I guess so, weren't his numbers a lot better in Florida though? Or was Lee just in a slump part of last year, for some reason I was under the impression that he didn't have a good year.
|
Just looked up his numbers in Florida, he put up .270-90-31.
One thing that stood out from looking at his numbers was 20 less walks and 65 more at bats |
why are you writing statlines like that? homeruns first. .270-31-90.
