Cobra Kai - SPOILERS INSIDE
Just spent the night binge watching this on Youtube Red
Worth the watch if you are a fan. Really <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xCwwxNbtK6Y" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
First two episodes are free on YT.
This is good.
It looks so much better than it should.
I think the number of episodes really help with the pacing and I definitely hope they keep it to 10-12 if their is another season
This looks absolutely incredible.
The heart wants what it wants obviously, and my heart wants Daniel Larusso as a heel. |
I have to watch THe Karate Kid again see if the narrative fits but imo the fact that we actually get to know Johnny, see where he came from makes it very easy to identify with him. It's Worth the 10 bucks if you are afraid of forgetting to cancel your free sub.
I really enjoyed the first two episodes. It works and it could have been a straight comedy or a complete disaster on par with those dumb Sharknado films or anything with Corey Feldman.
It's kind of where you'd expect both characters to end up, honestly. It's just really good. |
Kinda shocked how hard they're ribbing political correctness. Almost certainly gonna make enemies with that dialogue, especially given Johnny is the hero this time.

SPOILER: show |
I'll kinda read it later.
Nice.
I just read the entire plot and it does look absolutely glorious
Even better in motion.
Honestly, this is better than it has any right to be, even just from the simple fact that Johnny Lawrence apparently loves him some Iron Eagle. |
Looks to have been renewed for season 2
I should wait until season 2 comes out then use the free trial of YouTube red.
Finished it. Pretty great. Really has no business being this good.
was so fucking good. all hail William Zabka. There were points I legit got emotional watching it.
Bump. Season 2 drops tomorrow
Watching now. Literally picks up where season 1 left off.
... and, of course, more Iron Eagle. :y:
Oh my god, he even DREAMS in the 80's!
Still fucking hate Sam, though. She is a worthless shitlord.
Have binge watched up until ep 7 so far. Still SOOOOOOOO good.
well holy shit that finale was wild.

Cool, cheers for that
well I mean it's the cobra kai thread. You should probably expect spoilers. I ain't rocking the black font.
I'm showing the world the correct way to react to spoilers.
btw Martin Kove was awesome.
It's crazy that these guys were all relegated to b and c movies for the past 30 years. I mean Macchio at least had My Cousin Vinnie. But these are all talented performers. Zabka especially. |
Billy Zabka and Martin Kove are in a kung fu movie I own. It's called Shoot Fighter and Bolo Yeung actually plays a good guy. That's how evil Martin Kove is... He out villain-ed the worst bad guy from all the JCVD films.
Will watch tonight, hopefully get through it by tomorrow. Is it as good then?
You'll have to decide for yourself. I REALLLLLLLLLLY enjoyed it. It's getting good reviews with most saying it's a little less good than the 1st season. I think it's probably on par or close to it.
I assumed so off the back of you not immediately going nuts and calling it B.S.
I'm reassured now. |
5 minutes in and my skin is alive with goose pimples.
We. Are. Back! |
Noriega  oh Martin Kove you glorious man. I believe it.
lol he is actually hilarious. A very self-aware performance
I love how there are no good guys, no bad guys, just people with good intentions fucking up or people with bad intentions rising above them. I think it's my favourite show now.
So fucking good. |
the episodes go by like lighting.
Gender what? Is this a prank call?!
Shit is about to go all Count Dante up in hurr
The beginning of episode 3 with Johnny discovering the internet is absolutely hilarious.
It's great because Johnny is actually the 80s but in human form.
Other shows are going to steal that riff and ruin it but right now it's beautiful man.
You were absolutely right about the acting standard in this by the way Dale. Hawk and Dmitry are fucking great right now. Dmitry was so annoying but I get it now, I was blown away by the way his story got rolling.
Hawk's back story is well played too, the smiling parent who doesn't have a clue... I love this. I really can't say it well enough. |
i saw a podcast where a guy complained about Hawk being one of the worst characters of season 2. I think he was just a mark that got worked by a good heel. Hawk was kind of an underdog antihero who discovered himself in season 1. Whereas, in season 2 while he's not without a couple of redeeming qualities, he's moreorless a prick. But he's good in the role and it makes perfect sense within his arc.
Hawk's one of the most realistic characters in the show, his story is common, not over done by any standard and played totally straight. The actor has chops man. He really has a great future ahead of him.
Dmitry is like every good friend I had at High School. We were all nerds. Christ I even love Sam a bit despite her naivety having worse results than a person that actually tries to cause trouble. Still, totally accurate as far as the people I grew up with were. |
Robbie looks like he could be yet another Franco brother. This kid is going to get some unbelievable poon in his lifetime.
Probably is right now. |
Sam is v cute. And I like Robbie as well... I feel really bad for him. But their acting chops are far inferior to the rest of the teens on the show.
Peyton List is poor too. Miguel has been written into a tiny spot in this season. I'd love to see how his screen time compares between the two seasons.
Paul Hauser was a great addition to the show. Fucker is a month younger than me but looks awful. Funny though! |
Hausser is a great addition. Very much indicative of the creators' style.
Why can't everything be this simple?
Kreese is still a real Jerk!
There is a certain kind of wonderment I feel watching Cobra Kai. The scenery is beautiful, the characters are lovable/engaging, and the storylines feel logical.
I should have joined when I had the chance
Peyton List totally screws the pooch on that "hard knock life" type speech.
That was doggerel and dreadful exposition already but damn, she sucked all the life right out of it. |
Yeah. She definitely has her struggles. She serves her purpose as Miguel's boner-fodder though.
Wish I could see a computer generated image of my average facial expression while watching this.
I bet it's the dumbest smile in the world. |
lol that was literally me yesterday.
Every five minutes I'm watching and I think "Nope, now I hate this person forever." Then another five minutes go by and I think "Ah thank God they did that, what a great thing to do."
It happens like clockwork and it's always with enough different people to keep it fresh. |
Music has been tits this season.
Two huge songs stand out as (surely) hugely expensive to license for a show this small. |
Johnny Lawrence is asking questions about modern life that I myself needed answers to.
It's a public service. |
Honestly, I think Ralph Macchio is great in the series and he is undeniably loveable. BUT William Zabka blows me away. I didn't think I could root for a character so much. It's kind of like if Bronn was the main character of Game of Thrones.
Google Robson and Jerome - "Saturday Night At The Movies".
Zabka and Macchio are dynamite together on screen. Episode 9 is the tits.
Sam kinda looks like Emilia Clarke
Wow...
Emotional freakin roller-coaster right there. Lightning in a bottle. |
did u watch the last ep?
Yeah
hectic as fuck, right?
The second last episode was the business but the last one was a fight choreographer's wet dream. Kicked off exactly like Begbie in Trainspotting. Ah but the bad thing... The bad thing was fucking crazy.
Saw it coming but vice versa so was caught wildly off guard when it went that way. Have a theory or two about season 3. I will lose my God Damn mind if Terry Silver shows up. |

I think that is a valid and potentially popular opinion. I certainly know what you mean, the build towards it was so brilliant and keeps us all guessing.
The look of shock, shame and guilt on his face was everything that that other franchise got so badly wrong. Unsurprising to think that one of the ingredients in a perfect show really is love. |
It's weird how people won't watch the show when I tell them about it. I guess people just need to discover shit on their own.
If you hadn't seen it, it would be very easy to disregard as yet another pointless reboot. People aren't prepared for it man.
I genuinely didn't even remember how much I loved The Karate Kid until I got bored enough to watch it so I do get why people might find it hard to get up for. I mean all they need is one little taste and it all comes flooding back. |
I enjoyed the first episode, but I could also see how people wouldn't be hooked by it as well. I mean, you're establishing a whole new premise so it's difficult to show what you're going to do in that one ep.
I advise you to give "Weird City" a shot.

You're putting too much on Sam. Robbie caused just as many problems for Daniel and Johnny.

Got too more eps to finish. Didn't read the thread after my last post...probably spoilers
Just ordered the original movies.
Cobra Kai awakened something inside me which long lay dormant. Probably going to lose my mind until season 3 comes out. Too good. The show is too damned good. |
lol I watched Karate Kid II.
My main issue with the movie which is an OKAY watch, is that you go from the first movie which is just great in a lot of ways, and you follow it up with what would be a made-for-tv effort if not for the success of the first movie. You still have the awesomeness of Morita and Macchio...as well as the awesome scene with Miyagi pwning Kreese, but I feel like going to Japan really neutered the energy of the franchise. In saying that, the under-delivery of these sequels is legendary in itself and plays into the overall lore of Cobra Kai. Like how Daniel brought up being embarrassed by his stint AS a Cobra Kai. I didn't notice it, but read a review where it pointed out that it's a nod to the quality of the movie being embarrassing. Also, the joy of those movies isn't in them being Oscar contenders. It's literally just the awesomeness of karate fighting that makes them fun. Still, the drop in quality after the original is still frustrating. Particularly given the likeability and talent of Macchio and Mortia. |
Karate Kid Part 3 freakin rules and is the first one I ever saw. I told a girl I knew karate after that, then I feebly kicked a wall at shin height and she got bored and walked off.
Terry Silver is in Karate Kid 3, he's the grease that Kreese needs. Imagine if they get Hilary Swank involved. She could be the role model Sam truly listens to. So many ideas... |
I hope this continues for as long as there are interesting stories to tell
Also makes you want to watch the American version of 3 Ninjas, 3 Ninjas kick back. aww yis
I really enjoyed Cobra Kai II. The fight scene in the last episode was epic. Stingray is surprisingly one of my favorite characters on the show, with Johnny and Miguel being my two favorites. The only character that I don't like that much and haven't really connected with is Rob Keane. I suspect that a lot of other fans feel the same way. Given the way Cobra Kai II ended, I think Robbie will be the biggest heel on the show now.
I watched the original trilogy again last night. I think I might do a break down of why The Karate Kid 3 is both the best and worst franchise film ever made.
If one of those "Let's Play" people hasn't done Karate Kid 3 yet they are idiots. It's pure quote bait and almost none of the plot makes sense. Cartoonish evil galore, it is as outlandish as Rocky 5 but with no fight budget. It's amazing. |
Terry Silver has to show up in season 3. He's pure evil. Kreese isn't even as evil as he is.
I may resubscribe to YouTube just to rewatch all of Cobra Kai.
I just want people to know. |
My perfect season 3 would be Johnny and Daniel teaming up to fight Martin Kove who brings in Terry Silver.
Meanwhile Elizabeth Shue turns up and wrecks hearts all over again. I still feel like Robyn Lively is a forgotten love interest. She was hot back when I was a kid. |
I forgot about Mike Barnes. If they get Barnes back I would erupt into joy as I watched it.
SEASON 2 Free on YouTube right now.
Get more excited you silly silly people!
That battle scene is just tits.
Come on S3. Get here already
Fu-ckin-aye
Terry Silver will show up. I guarantee it.
