TPWW Survivor JAPAN 9! ATTACK the CASTLE. RESCUE the PRINCESS (or IC Title). [Super Naito Bros]

Rules:
  • Everybody selects TWO wrestlers from the NJPW roster, no duplicates allowed. You can select ONE wrestler from the “Core Roster” (who are more likely to appear frequently) and ONE wrestler from the “Regular Roster” (who could also show up frequently, or not at all / will show up on a regular basis but is a low card act). If the contest hasn't yet started, you can change your selection once by making a new post saying you're changing your selection (don't just edit your original post).
  • Your wrestler is eliminated if he or she submits or is pinned during a match at a televised NJPW event (aka it's on New Japan World and IS NOT from a third party promotion). Disqualifications, count outs, or being eliminated from a battle royale does not cause elimination. In multi-man matches (tag, triple threat, etc.), only the person who is pinned or submits is out. Shows run by partner promotions (AEW / iMPACT / REVPRO / CMLL / ROH) do not count and therefore any wrestlers who work there primarily are risky picks. Partnered crossover events DO count, provided they are promoted with the New Japan branding. AEW have an affiliation with NJPW now. For real.
  • In the event of a match finishing via KNOCKOUT, the Small Council of Elders have met and come to the majority decision that a KNOCKOUT will count as an ELIMINATION.
  • In NJPW Survivor, your wrestler will also be eliminated if he goes SIX weeks without having a televised match in a NJPW ring for any reason whatsoever (injury, marital affair, seduced by Vince or Tony, being a massive prick / Davey Boy Jr'd, etc.). There is a constant countdown going on from your wrestler's last match, so even if bad luck happens - you can still potentially win as long as everyone else loses in that span. In the event of two or more competitors being eliminated on the same day due to this rule and that impacting on podium positions (rank 1-3), the wrestler positions will be determined by time of last performance (meaning main eventing is more valuable than opening). In addition, the six week ruling will occur at the end of a show if one is running concurrent to the cut off date, meaning anyone who loses on the show will place lower than whoever gets six week'd. If you suffer a ban for the length of the game you will be disqualified.
  • If you win you get your choice of either first picks next season or double picks for the next season. If you take the option of double picks, you must wait until at least EIGHT other people have selected in order to prevent you from becoming The Skippord. If you are inactive upon winning to the creation of the next season, you will not get first pick and instead get double picks. In accordance with previous versions of this rule, a minimum wait time of 48 hours must pass before a prize can be defaulted.
  • A wrestler must be an active participant in a match for it to reset the six-week timer. Lumberjacks, special referees, managers, "enforcers," guest commentators, etc. do NOT count... but there will be less of this shit here anyway.

Sign-ups are allowed until the start of the the 28th February 2021 edition of CASTLE ATTACK at the start of show, in the beginning of this night / morning, right then, on Sunday 28th FEBRUARY 2021, on this day, eliminations will be eliminated, starting on this show, on the New Japan World, in loving memory of YOSHI-HASHI.

Winning wrestlers must sit out 3 seasons before returning. For winning Season 6, Tetsuya Naito is ineligible. For winning Season 7, BONER SOLDIER is ineligible. For winning Season 8, Kazuchika Okada is ineligible.

For winning Season 8, mike adamle has taken first picks and aligned himself with the ascended GOD Kota Ibushi and the ascended HOG Jeff Cobb. I never watched Lucha Underground but feel free to insert a hilarious reference of your own in this space. There's one there I'm sure of it.

I will be participating in the game, but in the interest of fairness, I won't make my picks until at least ten pairs of wrestlers have been chosen. (In the depressing event that ten pairs are not chosen I will make my choices within 24 hours of the start time).

My dad works at Nintendo and he told me that Ibushi's Princess is in another castle. Right through the forbidden door.

Are they related

Ultra Mantis 02-20-2021 10:37 AM

They are not related, Takahashi is just a common Japanese surname. One is a hyper little punk lunatic with a stuffed toy cat and an exceptional workrate, the other is the bullet club's personal jobber who also happens to be a pimp so the most interesting thing about him by far is his valet's butt. That green haired, big lipped urchin up there is also a Takahashi and he's a total dickhead loser.

To summarize - Takahashi >>>>>>>>>>>>> Takahashi >>>>>>>>> Takahashi

DaveWadding 02-20-2021 02:02 PM

Great O Khan and Kojima

ClockShot 02-20-2021 04:09 PM

Decisions, decisions.

EVIL & Dick Togo.

KENTA
<s>Satoshi Kojima</s> Rocky Romero

Ultra Mantis 02-20-2021 06:37 PM

Wadding already took Koji, Smeat.

Emperor Smeat 02-20-2021 06:50 PM

I'll take Rocky Romero then since he usually works regularly at NJPW's Strong shows.

Ultra Mantis 02-23-2021 08:21 AM

Time for this thread to take it's New Japan Dad bump for the night. Sign up already!

Bad News Gertner 02-23-2021 10:45 AM

YOH n Jado

Ultra Mantis 02-27-2021 08:33 AM

Last day of sign ups of anyone is lurking around here.

I pick Big Togi Makabe and Tiny Tiger Mask.

Bad News Gertner 02-27-2021 08:58 AM

Holy shit I won!

Ultra Mantis 03-03-2021 05:03 PM

New Japan Cup gets underway tomorrow and will be running for most of the month. As usual, being in the tournament is incredibly high risk for survivability.

WEST BRACKET

EVIL (first round bye)
Kojima vs Cobb

Naito vs O-Khan
Yano vs Fale - This has bullshit count out finish written all over it though

Goto vs Taichi
Okada vs Shingo

Honma vs Suzuki
Juice vs KENTA

EAST BRACKET

Tenzan vs Ospreay
Kidd vs Sabre Jr

Nagata vs Tsuji
Ishii vs SANADA

Finlay vs Chase
YOSHI-HASHI vs Yujiro Takahashi

Henare vs Jay White
Tanahashi (first round bye)

This leaves the following safe from certain doom:

Hiromu Takahashi (will be eliminated at six weeks due to injury)
Kota Ibushi - Huge accidental heel and self proclaimed GOD champion, unlikely to be losing any time soon
Togi Makabe - Eating sweets at commentary, not booked on the tour to wrestle as yet
YOH - Still out with an injury? Might be back in time, all is quite on the YOH front.

Dick Togo - Bullet club old man jobber, hot contender to eat a pin in a multi-man tag on the 7th
Jado - Bullet club old man jobber, not booked as yet
Ren Narita - NJPW Strong exclusive, had a good unbeaten run which was ended last week in between seasons. Future uncertain.
Rocky Romero - A regular on NJPW Strong, though he doesn't have the best record even there. Could potentially last a while.
Tiger Mask - The Junior Dad. Hot contender to eat a pin in a multi man on the 5th.

It's looking like Ibushi's game to lose here early on.

Ultra Mantis 03-23-2021 02:07 PM

We are already down to our final five, with a whopping four players eliminated by the New Japan Cup. Catastrophic levels of elimination. Of those five, only one man, who is unsurprisingly Gertner, has both wrestlers still in the game.

So lets take a look at the odds:

6. Hiromu Takahashi (Supreme Olajuwon)
Out with an injury (torn pec) and unlikely to return any time soon. Would not expect the good Takahashi to be back until Best of the Super Jrs in November, which is way outside of the six week cut off.

5. Togi Makabe (Ultra Mantis)
Big Sweets Makabe is still not being booked to wrestle despite not being injured and showing up to half the shows just to do guest commentary. He is also not booked for the upcoming Sakura Genesis tour, and unless he is the mysterious "X" drafted to Will Ospreay's heel faction as a surprise debut on the big show (he is not, by the way) then he's well on his way to getting a time out. Of course if he does show up he could go the distance since he bumps about as much as Fale. The first day of the Dontaku tour could keep him in the game, but this doesn't seem like Makabe's season to get a second win.

4. Ren Narita (Gertner)
His "excursion" to the LA Dojo and exclusively wrestling low level indie jobbers has really expanded Narita's lifespan in Survivor, however he is currently involved in a tournament for a shot at the US title amongst "bigger" names such as Brody King, Lio Rush and Darren Young the worst one from Nexus even worse than Michael Tarver. He is going to take a loss, it's just a question of when, and I don't pay enough attention to NJPW Strong to give you a solid answer on that.

3. YOH (Savio)
YOH, the not as good as SHO half of Roppongi 3K, makes his long awaited return from injury at Sakura Genesis and is coming straight in with a shot at the freshly crowned Jr Tag Champions, Kanemaru and Despy. While R3K are definitely going to lose, the highly fantasy booked scenario here is a YOH heel turn to join Ospreay's Empire, leaving SHO to take the fall and beginning a singles program where YOH will likely be protected until he actually faces SHO one on one because SHO is going to rinse him lets be real. If that doesn't happen he's fodder.

2. Bad Luck Fale (Gertner)
Ugh, this guy. Not on the Sakura Genesis tour, but it's likely he will be back for Dontaku doing nothing of note and lumbering around aimlessly in multi man tags where he is no danger of even thinking about taking a bump, let alone a finish. He's not too high up on the pecking order, but Bullet Club is bloated enough with pin eaters for him to survive indefinitely if Gedo wills it.

1. Kota Ibushi (mike adamle)
The self proclaimed God, destroyer of prestige and arbiter of championship lineage has an unpredictable World Heavyweight Championship bout with New Japan Cup winner and maker of questionable life choices, Will Ospreay, at Sakura Genesis on April 4th. Retaining here would make him nigh invincible until Dontaku in May. Just Ibushi things.

Big Vic 03-24-2021 12:11 PM

Let's go YOH!
