Rate A WrestleMania: WrestleMania 35

Well, here we are again and the 35th edition of WrestleMania is in the history books. Time for you all to sound off in this thread and rate the show. As with all my poll threads, + rep will be left for all who vote. The poll will be valid for 1 week.

Best of the “Marathon Manias” to date and the best overall WM since 31...maybe would have been better than 31 if the finish wasn’t ass. The finish of WM31 took that show over the top and put it in the upper half of Manias.

This show was well paced and didn’t have any shit matches. Lots of memorable moments and matches that will be discussed for a long time. Honestly, if they had nailed the main event finish, it’d probably have put it in my top 10 WrestleManias. Still think they need to cut these down by at least an hour. The main event and last few matches didn’t get the reactions it deserved because they were exhausted. That’s been a trend at all of these 8-hour WMs and something they need to fix.

1. WrestleMania XXX
2. WrestleMania X-Seven
3. WrestleMania 23
4. WrestleMania XXVIII
5. WrestleMania X8
6. WrestleMania XX
7. WrestleMania XIX
8. WrestleMania 25
9. WrestleMania 31
10. WrestleMania 21

... is that just a list of your favorite WrestleManias post-2000?

I really didn't like 31 as much as other people did. The Rock and Ronda stuff was pretty cool, but it absolutely sucked to see Bryan slumming it in the opening Ladder Match. I'm also not a big fan of the Money in the Bank gimmick, and I don't think it's stressed enough how they kind of pulled that switch because what they were doing wasn't working. At all.

Orton vs. Rollins was a good match, with a sick RKO, but when you've got a guy losing and then later on he's winning the belt? Eh. The whole WCW clusterfuck with the Sting match was offensive too. And Taker vs. Bray Wyatt was a bad match, from memory. I liked Cena beating Rusev with one Attitude Adjustment, but that's all soured by them repeatedly beating Rusev afterwards and where he's ended up.

Trying to remember more about the show, and I'm honestly struggling. I just bring it up because people do seem to laud it as a great Mania, but I think that's kind of stretching it a bit. It also rendered a lot of what made Mania XXX feel special, which hurts it in retrospect.

These Network Manias have all been pretty dodge, or just events that "happened." Mania XXX was the last one I felt good watching, and by the time Mania 31 came around my heart was already broken.

I rated it an initial 7.5, would be better if it was shorter. But there wasn't anything bad. I would have sped some things up and cut a couple here and there.

I hate 80s WWF and the 90s aren’t memorable as whole cards really, plus I didn’t watch a Mania live on PPV until WMXV so I’m biased for Attitude era and beyond. No WrestleMania from 1-16 holds a candle to WM17 thru now for me. There are maybe 1-2 great matches on a card, but the rest is ass or characters I have no investment in.

xrodmuc316 04-08-2019 02:12 AM

Mania 30 is my all time favorite. This one was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it cracked the top 15, maybe not even the top 20 of all time Manias.

Fignuts 04-08-2019 02:25 AM

Rated it a 6.

The majority of the show just didn't feel like Mania. Maybe because the builds for almost all the matches were terrible/nonexistant.

Kofi vs Bryan was definitely the best part of the show.

Really enjoyed Triple H vs Batista. In latge part because I wasnt expecting it to be that brutal.

Woman's match was great until the ending. I don't even mind lynch reversing a pipers pit into a pin. But fuck right off with the shoulder up nonsense. Main event of wrestlemania, and one of the most historical matches in the history of the business and they end it on an indecisive finish, because Backlash. Fucking god damn idiots.

All those bitching about mania being two day got what they wanted to

I'm still stuck at the Port Authority waiting my 2:45 bus at 6am
Cunts.

Rated it a solid 7. First few hours actually flew. I think the Batista Vs Trips match slowed it down and killed the momentum.

If that was the lowest part of the night though then I think it qualifies as a good mania!

Fignuts 04-08-2019 06:57 AM

Also, lol at Triple H's PS2 era cinematic intro. So bad. You think with all that Saudi money they could afford better CG.

And the CG on Orton's entrance looked like coiled up poo.

7.5. Better than last year but could have been a bit better....

Blue Demon 04-08-2019 10:22 AM

I put it at a 7. Pretty good show overall, and miles ahead of last year's. Sure, could've been better, but I still was pretty interested overall.

I was lucky to catch the last train from Secaucus to Newark til 430 am and it was supposed to be 130(which I barely made) but it didn't get in til after 2 and then I had to walk around homeless people in Newark at 230 am to get to my hotel.

Anyway WM was at least an 8 maybe 8.5 and definitely a top 5 mania. Much better than 29...

Jordan 04-08-2019 10:40 AM

I really think they need to make it a 2 day event. This year is like WM P1 and WM P2 with the Kofi match ending part 1. If they did a 2 day event they could legit have everyone on the card in a more prominent spot and it would be awesome.

Sixx 04-08-2019 12:21 PM

A solid 8.

I used to think like this, but then you can just argue that not everybody should be on the card and it would be far more awesome if you could focus on your important shit.

Damian Rey 2.0 04-08-2019 04:48 PM

I think it should be thinned down to 8-10 matches tops. But they're not gonna do that. They're going to get as much ad money as they can. So the easy compromise is to just make it a 2 day event.

Emperor Smeat 04-08-2019 07:20 PM

7.5

Its one of the better Manias in recent years but the show was way too long, a few matches were not that good, and the poor finish to the main event dragged it down from being a potential 8.

They could probably get more people to watch their product and increase the value of ad spots if they made their show more digestible.

Mr. Nerfect 04-08-2019 07:21 PM

At this point, I would seriously pay $100 million just to not run that third hour of Raw.
