Just gotta a little more info on this. The Citadel DLC opens up after the Priority Citadel 2 mission.
SPOILER: show
If I recall, that's Udina's Coup attempt?

But they suggest going all the way up to the final assault mission at Cerberus HQ so you can meet all your old squadmates THEN starting the DLC so you get the full effect of said DLC.

I guess I worded that right, you'll figure it out.

ClockShot 03-09-2013 04:33 PM

Just finished downloading citadel alittle while ago.

Probably start it in a few days. Made the mistake of playing Omega on my insanity save so I'm gonna go through that again on normal mode.

Omega on Insanity wasn't that bad, until the ending bit.

ClockShot 03-09-2013 08:28 PM

Yeah, the end was a bit dicey.

But the thing is, I did Leviathan on normal, Omega on insanity. Might as well do Omega & Citadel on normal and get everything done in one shot.

Kane Knight 03-09-2013 11:39 PM

So this is a 70s cheese DLC, or...

ClockShot 03-12-2013 05:37 PM

So I got through part 1 of the Citadel DLC, which was the mission. Not great, but not bad. A little in between. But the dialogue between your squadmates got a few laughs out of me.

It's the 2nd half I'm enjoying right now. Really what's selling the DLC at the moment.

Raven Reaper 03-13-2013 06:50 AM

And when I reach the ending of the party, I really felt like NOT CLICKING on going back to Normandy.. :(( I fucking cried..

Unlocked Achievements:
SPOILER: show
Beating Jacob at Shattered Eezo arcade and James Vega's 182 pull ups

Skip to 1:24-1:34. That same reaction I felt when the last DLC is totally over. :((((( Excuse me, I need a tissue.

Heisenberg 03-15-2013 10:06 AM

After beating Mass Effect on my old XBOX years ago, starting fresh on Mass Effect 2, I have reached Mass Effect 3 last night.

My next play through will be with a Shepard that is completed 1-3 style.

3 seems out of control in a good way, I look forward to closing out this awesome trilogy that I delayed for so long.

Miotch 03-15-2013 06:50 PM

The ending fucking sucks, but the rest of the game is great.

Heisenberg 03-15-2013 08:53 PM

I viewed the backlash, wanted to see for myself firsthand.

Frank Drebin 03-15-2013 10:12 PM

Just finished citadel. Yup. So bittersweet.....

Raven Reaper 03-16-2013 12:22 AM

I think I'm one of the minorities who never gave a single fuck about the plothole filled endings. Really enjoyed it that much. Sometimes, not everyone can have a happily ever after type of ending cos I know some people who dislikes happy endings to movies and still likes endings that have questions left to make viewers ponder it.

Heisenberg 03-20-2013 03:08 PM

Kind of miss my Space Hamster from ME2.

Tommy Gunn 03-20-2013 07:26 PM

I marked out when I found my space hamster running loose in the lower decks in Mass Effect 3.

Heisenberg 03-20-2013 07:28 PM

Who the fuck took him out of my room and placed him there? EDI? Mordin? Garrus probably did, son of a bitch, my best friend.

Clearly it was Cortez or Traynor. I'm guessing they were planning a Mr. Lemiwinks with it and he got loose?

Heisenberg 03-20-2013 10:27 PM

Pretty renegade of them

Ermaximus 03-20-2013 10:45 PM

Kind of like Kelly keeping my damned fish. I mean it's like yeah, I get it girl, you want the D, but get in line behind Liara, Ashley, Tali, Miranda, Jack, and Cortez.

Heisenberg 03-20-2013 10:49 PM

Holy shit, I almost chokeslammed her ass into the memorial for that mishap.

Heisenberg 03-24-2013 04:39 PM

Great fuckin' series. Finished my paragon run, going to take a mini-break from it, then start a Renegade run.

I spent countless minutes poking Traynor and enjoying her company. Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Comm ander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commande r...Commander...Commander...Commander...Commander

Raven Reaper 03-24-2013 08:57 PM

If you're playing Femshep you can invite Traynor to the showers and voila Romance Option!

Frank Drebin 03-24-2013 10:13 PM

Goodbye Mass Effect. You were everything I wanted in a game. Ballsy move by making a choose your own adventure go across three games. Man, the ending cinematic after ME2 was intense.

I hate your ending to the third game so much, but the adventure was so damn fun. Never had an experience like it, and I doubt I ever will again. Goodbye, my friend.

Fignuts 10-28-2013 03:39 PM

Finally played this. Like ME2, I waited for all the DLC to hit first.

As I said in the other thread, this is pretty much now my favorite series this console generation. I don't really get the hate for this third game. Granted, I did play it with the extended cut ending, but regardless, to me Mass Effect has never been about the ending, but the journey leading to it.

In fact, ME is a rare occurance where I took the game at a slow pace. Not that I really rush through other games, but I'm always thinking about the ending. In ME I was so enamored with the world Bioware created that it forced me to sit back and savor every little moment and mission.

I think a lot of what made this series special for me was the characters. They're all so unique and interesting, and they have brilliant chemistry together. That combined with utterly fantastic voice acting leads to a cast that feels like old friends by the third game. I don't think I've ever felt as invested in a group of characters, not in a game, tv show, book or anything, as I have been with this cast.

Going to do it all over again, this time as a mean, ruthless, biotic uber-bitch.

Fignuts 10-28-2013 03:43 PM

I would like to have a beer with Garrus more than I would with a large portion of my real life friends.

Sad and pathetic or a testament to how well Bioware can put together a character?

I don't know how you can say all of that and be satisfied by the ending.

EXACTLY! I have said that numerous times. The original ending wasnt even bad by any means, it just didnt elaborate as well on what happens to the characters afterwards.

All the moaning and bitching about the ending of the game and all your decisions not making a difference was ridiculous. All your decisions mattered in that game, and shaped your missions, and most importantly, your relationships...the ending was going to be how Bioware wanted.

Without your decisions and interactions during the story, the player would not have grown attached to these characters, and as you put it, make them feel like old friends that you genuinely missed having around.

Fignuts 10-28-2013 03:51 PM

Maybe it's because with all the backlash, I expected the worst, and when the moment finally came it didn't seem so bad. Maybe pre extended cut was a lot worse.

Like I said, for me the series was all about the road to the ending, not the end itself. I knew before ME3 even came out, that the end, no matter how good couldn't live up to the experience leading up to it.

Absolutely the best thing I've ever heard regarding this game and this series. I still don't understand how so many people can be so butthurt over 3 minutes of gameplay rather than be thankful for the over 120 hours that lead to that point. Stop being so self entitled you bunch of bitches. Stop being Owen.

RoXer 10-28-2013 04:36 PM

It's not entitlement to expect a coherent ending to 120 hours of gameplay.

Fignuts 10-28-2013 11:19 PM

Seemed perfectly coherent to me, if a little complicated. Just lacked closure for specific characters.

I've never been someone who needs complete closure at the end as long as the story itself is good.

Frank Drebin 10-29-2013 01:03 PM

The ending was piss poor. They left alot on the table (remember the whispers of dark matter and that sun prematurely dying in ME2?) and alot of stuff didn't make sense (Why was the star child the same kid Shep had been seeing in his dreams?)

The decisions that were given such gravity in ME1/2 never really came to fruition. You could have killed the Rachni Queen in ME1 and it would have done little other than a few diologue changes and a few less war points in ME3. The Genophase? They spent alot of time on that leaving you hand-wringing on what to do. After all that, all you got was one of two pictures to give you any kind of hint as to what happens with the Krogan race, and that was only in the extended cut. Keeping the Collector Base or Destroying it? No effect whatsoever.

The makers said they didn't want to punish people for making certain choices, but we made them having a pretty good idea which were "good" or "bad" for business if you will. Like alot of people, I made both a paragon and renegade to see what all the differences would lead to. I WANTED TO BE PUNISHED FOR MAKING RENEGADE CHOICES!

Did it ruin the entire series? Yes and no. No in that it was indeed a great ride (saying its all in the journey and not the ending is bullshit for this kind of series and medium) and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time save for the last part. Yes, in that if we had gotten an ending we were due, I would be going all the way back to ME1 to do it all over again because it would have been the be all end all of story telling. Now, they are just going to gather dust and I'm done with them all.

Tommy Gunn 11-01-2013 07:07 AM

It's such a shame that they rushed Mass Effect 3 out, if any game needed another 6 months of development it was this one. Adding a slideshow in the EC didn't really satisfy me, although I liked it more than the bare-bones ending.

I hope Mass Effect 4 get's to stay in development until it's properly cooked all the way through. Bugs I can deal with, but forgetting to put an ending in is bullshit.

Frank Drebin 11-08-2018 08:49 PM

Hello old friend. I miss you dearly and almost forgot N7. Always in my heart.

Hello old friend. I miss you very much. I know one day we will meet again. Happy N7 day.

drave 11-07-2020 09:55 AM

Keep going back to this now and again. This is one of those games (all 3 of them tbh) that I would LOVE to see get the next gen remake treatment. Bonus if they included the multiplayer, which was damn good for being tossed together.

Happy N7 Day Commander.

Frank Drebin 11-08-2020 12:55 AM

This is my favorite thread on the Citadel.

Helmsphere 11-08-2020 01:56 PM

Commander Shepard's Cutscenes pistol still remains the most devastating weapon in history. Plus it also took down the most feared enemy ever...

Murauder Shields.

drave 11-08-2020 05:20 PM

Apparently a remaster of the trilogy is slated to release 2021, and a new game in the ME universe is also being made:
