No thanks.

My ears are not keen for what my eyes have seen and my nose has imagined.

Bad News Gertner 05-13-2020 07:35 AM

If you've watched the LOD DVD that the WWE put out a while back then last nights episode was just a rehash of the DVD

Seanny One Ball 05-13-2020 12:20 PM

Another Montreal

Jordan 05-13-2020 04:25 PM

I really enjoyed the Road Warriors doc. I liked Animals honesty and hearing from Hawks brothers.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-13-2020 05:13 PM

My thoughts on this doc:

**Fart Noise**

Nah it was fine, but pretty by the numbers.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-13-2020 10:39 PM

It wasn't as in depth as I wanted it to be. It glazed over their whole career I felt. Road Warriors need a longer time slot for a doc.

Jordan 05-14-2020 01:46 PM

I really enjoyed Paul Ellering and Hawk's brothers added a family element I didn't know about this big guy. I've been watching all the Darkside's with my gf, and this was one of her favorites. I think Brody was her favorite so far. She doesn't know anything beoynd the brief preface I'll give before the show starts.

One thing I didn't LOVE is how they acted like They went from WWF to split and Hawk in Japan back to WWF, when they had another WCW run as a team this time in blue. Which I hated.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-14-2020 01:51 PM

Yeah I rolled my eyes at them ignoring the WCW run. Also, they were given a chance for a year to make an impact in WWE in 1997. They just stank out the joint because they were WELL past their prime.

Bad News Gertner 05-14-2020 02:46 PM

They didn't even mention their AWA run

Seanny One Ball 05-14-2020 02:50 PM

They never mentioned the Titantron suicide angle which should have been properly discussed.
I thought going into it that Hawk's addiction & downslide had to be the main focus but they paid it no more than lip service as a reason for their decline as a team.

Now that I think about it, it was a complete waste of an episode.

xrodmuc316 05-14-2020 04:50 PM

Didn't like the Roadwarrior episode, mostly because it was the same ting WWE put out in like 2006 or whenever that DVD came out.

It was all the same guest even for the most part, Ellering, Smash, Droz.

First time in 2 seasons it felt like a simple rehash.

Oh shit I forgot to listen to that today

And there's no way that can be true.

ozzman6669 05-16-2020 12:22 AM

Didn't both side couldn't talk about any legal issues since the settlement ?? If she broke the agreement can wwe start to make money from Owen again ??

Probably expired some time ago considering how open and willing she's been in recent times with anything Owen related compared to before.

Then again WWE supposedly violated the terms several times before so the NDA probably isn't worth its paper anymore.

slik 05-16-2020 01:00 AM

It sounds like the breach of contract lawsuit is basically that WWE had two clauses in Owen's contract that lawsuits could only happen in CT and WWE could not be held responsible for injury or death so by starting a lawsuit of wrongful death in Missourri, Martha Hart was technically violating Owen's contract, twice.

Things got settled before this was ruled on, of course, but Vince IIRC did state he believes WWE would have won against Martha had things not settled.

slik 05-18-2020 05:12 PM

Never heard this before -- you can hear Owen hit the ring around 1:26

:(

I think that commentator is dyslexic because he kept saying ewno instead of Owen.

Bad News Gertner 05-18-2020 07:08 PM

Last episode of the season tomorrow which sucks.

Emperor Smeat 05-18-2020 07:28 PM

Apparently Scott Norton was not happy at all with his appearance in the Road Warriors episode.

Something about how he was interviewed for over 3 hours and didn't like how he was portrayed based on the stuff used. Made it seem like he was harsh towards the duo when that wasn't the case during the actual interview.

Also mentioned Hawk's brother messaging him before the interview about needing to be careful with what he says since the producers were not trustworthy when it came to their intentions for episodes.

xrodmuc316 05-18-2020 10:26 PM

Owen should have just said no.

The narrative has always been Owen was uncomfortable but didn't want to say no again since he just refused to do an affair angle with Debra, and he didn't want to say no again...

BUT, he wanted to leave when the Screwjob happened but WWE wouldn't let him out of his contract. So why was he worried about missing Vince/WWE off if he wasn't trying to keep his job there anyways?

Also, it's not like he would have been refusing an angle, just an entrance stunt. It's not the same thing.

Plus, he did the stunt prior to that day. Bet they won't bring that up on the upcoming episode.

Emperor Smeat 05-18-2020 11:38 PM

Supposedly the real reasons was Vince threatened legal action against Owen if he quit and Bret warning him that WCW was a miserable place to work for and not worth the hassle.

Also unlike the others that left, Owen supposedly didn't feel he was that financially well off to risk legal issues or retire comfortably with his family.

The accident itself pretty much was due to Vince shrugging off Owen's concerns he had with the harness during the show.

slik 05-19-2020 02:05 PM

WWE's lawyer releases a statement implying Martha didn't care why Owen died, yikes

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This new quote from Jerry McDevitt/WWE on Martha Hart is really something to behold. <a href="https://t.co/qLrcuapZa6">pic.twitter.com/qLrcuapZa6</a></p>&mdash; jœlius cæsar (@tedwassonasong) <a href="https://twitter.com/tedwassonasong/status/1262637093639147520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 19, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Emperor Smeat 05-19-2020 06:14 PM

Does he not realize the same criticisms about her trying to "fix the judicial selection process" is the exact same thing WWE constantly does whenever they get sued.

Its why WWE desperately tries to get all their cases heard in Connecticut regardless of the actual jurisdiction since the judges in their area are more favorable to WWE and corporate interests.

Bad News Gertner 05-19-2020 06:27 PM

What made them think that was going to make things better? No good can come from that

Damian Rey 2.0 05-19-2020 11:00 PM

In the middle of the episode. Vince comesoff like Trump with how defensive he gets and his quickness to get and flip the tables and be the victim.

Also, this shit is obscenely sad. Poor Owen.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-19-2020 11:16 PM

Yeah that whole episode once the accident happens is really hard too watch. Didn't think I'd see Cornette break down.

slik 05-20-2020 12:22 AM

Still emotional over an hour later.

That was really hard to watch and really, really good.

slik 05-20-2020 12:23 AM

Mind boggling

Was fucking floored that the equipment wwe approvedof wasn't meant for harnessing human beings. How the fuck Vince got away with this is amazing. Jesus.

slik 05-20-2020 01:10 AM

All those wrestlers too, wrestling on a dented ring with their friend's blood freshly stained in the corner.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-20-2020 01:40 AM

Can't imagine trying to go on with the show. In hindsight it was an awful decision.

Yeah this whole thing put me off carabiner keychains when I was young.
And mountaineering obviously.

Seanny One Ball 05-20-2020 02:50 PM

When Jericho compared Owen to Johnny from The Karate Kid it clicked in my brain perfectly.
That is why I always bought Owen Hart as a heel. He really is a bigger Johnny Lawrence.

Seanny One Ball 05-20-2020 03:11 PM

Holy shit, I don't think I ever heard that Owen had shouted "look out" as he fell before seeing that.

Seanny One Ball 05-20-2020 03:32 PM

That was a great episode. There was a hell of a lot of Martha and family in it which was a big get for the show, that adds some serious credibility.
I think the most important thing was that JR and Corny both reacted in a much more open and emotional way about Owen than I have ever heard them before. Every good wrestling podcast has an Owen episode and none besides Something To Wrestle ever took it to a place where tears were evident.

I'm not saying I liked them crying, it was just nice to see that they aren't as toughened to the subject as I had thought.
It was refreshing to see sadness alongside the obvious anger, I suppose.

Seanny One Ball 05-20-2020 03:36 PM

It was also a clear and damning attack on Vince Mahon without taking away from Owen at all. I don't think any episode has taken such well placed shots at him and it was all organic.

Martha undoubtedly calculated her input for maximum damage but good for her, I doubt it was a reach.
