Both are hilariously overrated. Particularly Avatar. Never cared for it.

Fignuts 04-29-2019 10:15 PM

Went a second time. Teared up a bit at “Avengers Assemble”. That scene is everything I’ve ever wanted in a comic movie since I was 5 years old, but never thought it possible.

Kalyx triaD 04-29-2019 10:30 PM

I teared up at the whole portals scene. Only other time a line up before the fight hit me that hard was the Rohan charge in Two Towers.

Damian Rey 2.0 04-30-2019 06:27 PM

Alright fellas. Going in the theater for a 330 showing. In the endgame now and I'm ready to fucking cry.

Makes it even better that prick James Cameron has been trash talking superhero movies.

Terminator is essentially a superhero franchise.

Ended up hating that film when I saw it because of a grudge I held for not being able to watch the new Mr Bean film instead and also struggling to stay awake while watching it.

Lock Jaw 05-01-2019 07:16 PM

Even one of the Russo Bros. acknowledged the ending "not making sense":

Quote:

The Russos were asked how an aged Captain America ended up on that bench at the end of Endgame. Instead of providing clarity, their response added a new layer of complexity.

"If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality. The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?" Joe Russo asked. "Interesting question, right? Maybe there’s a story there. There’s a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it’s fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we’re thinking.”

Lock Jaw 05-01-2019 07:21 PM

Personally I "don't like" when directors "fill in the holes" like that....

Like how after Infinity War, they came out and said something like "The Hulk didn't come out because he is tired of cleaning up Bruce Banner's messes".... which was like "Huh? That didn't come across in the movie at all. It wasn't entirely clear I guess, but the most obvious thing to think was that Hulk was scared after getting beat down by Thanos".

Especially when you could toss in one line or something to get that point across in the movie, and not via interviews after the movie....

Savio 05-01-2019 07:42 PM

One reason I am not a huge fan of Time Travel movies.

Kalyx triaD 05-01-2019 11:11 PM

I figure Cap just came back after Carter died at Civil War movie due date. He still had the suit and Pym Particles.

Just saw this morning. Was weird to me; I heard a noise like someone was walking with an iron staff or banging an anvil in the distance, but there was no picture. Thought I missed something, and as the end time was like 2pm on a random weekday, there were no employees around to ask (enjoying the slacker downtime- I would have been doing exactly the same shit if I worked there).

Glad I saw Captain Marvel the day before. Wasn't "neccessary", but feels like there would have been a glaring lack of context.

Fignuts 05-02-2019 05:21 AM

I believe the noise at the end was the sound of Tony forging the first Iron Man suit.

Your grudge was totally justified. :D

Ruien 05-02-2019 08:18 AM

I assumed Cap just used the time travel crap to get back to the time with Bucky and the crew. He just used it waaaaay later than planned.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-02-2019 11:09 AM

What a fucking movie. Jesus. I'll put up a detailed review in the movie thread. But it's been 2 days and I'm still processing everything. I'll say it's about as perfect a sequel as I think they could've made.

I agree with Kalyx. I think Cap just lived out his life, and at some point jumped back into his original timeline once his life with Peggy came to an end. The Russos are better off not explaining it.

Professor Hulk was great. Clearly not the savage, unbridled monster Hulk can be. So I wonder if we see more of him or of his merger of consciousness was his own little sendoff. Regardless he was fun and I loved both his initialembarrassment of watching himself in the first Avengers and having to "gratuitously" smash about when he goes searching for Strange.

Tony's ark is fucking glorious. As soon as he mentioned he already got his 2nd chance, I knew this was it for him. I thought he and Cap might be both bite the dust, but once Cap found himself in Peggy's office, you could almost feel the wheels in his head turning. Make it out of this and use the Pym particles to come back and get that dance.

Tony getting his moment with his dad, the moments with his daughter, and of course his demise where he couldn't even utter a word, with Potts telling him it's ok to finally rest now, all amazing, fitting and deserved moments for the guy who started it all. I loved his last line being "I am Ironman".

Was pleasantly surprised with how big a contributor Scott was. Not gonna lie, I teared up a lot in this movie. But seeing him realize he'd lost 5 yrs and seeing Cassie grown up got me. The dad in me couldn't bare the idea of missing out on 5 yrs of time with my daughter.

I want a Ronin mini series. What a fucking bad ass. I've never been a big Black Widow fan, but her self sacrifice was devastating. Especially with Clint telling her "please, no". Great stuff.

My biggest takeaway and surprise was how they treated Thanos. I sure as shit didn't expect him to just sit back and retire. He looked like his will to live had vanished. He completed his life mission and was now ready to just let whatever happens, happen.

Then we get 2014 Thanos. Who is a fucking monster. Infinity Wars Thanos seemed very calm, calculated and focused on one goal. Whereas 2014 Thanos was much more vicious. He mentioned it was never personal until now. You could see that with how he fought. He was aiming to kill instead of trying to get people out of his way.

Spider-Man has a knack for creating emotional scenes. His first interaction and last interaction with Stark are so damn good. It does seem his entire cast was seemingly snapped judging by his ending, so I'm interested in how they go about that.

All in all, I can see there being a few gripes with the tricky time travel. But damn what a movie. Can't see how they could've done any better. It was emotionally exhausting and its sense of finality was something I'd say no other Marvel movie had. Excited for the future but honestly if this had been it, it was a perfect ending

Lucky 05-02-2019 10:28 PM

I might see this one just to see how it continues the story from the 2nd one with the robot and angry psychic girl. She was kind of hot.

Shadow 05-03-2019 07:17 AM

The only gripe I have is how bullshit their time travel rules were. Other then that...GREAT FILM AND A PERFECT SEND OFF TO CERTAIN CHARACTERS!

Back from the cinema; not as epic as Infinity War, but still so good and satisfying.

SPOILER: show
Like others have mentioned, the people in the audience went crazy when Cap used Mjolnir.

I was also very happy that Cap got the girl in the end.

Say what you will for Tony, but Cap has been fucking thru it as a character. Seeing him come back as an old man and look happy was well deserved

Rammsteinmad 05-03-2019 02:00 PM

This film has been out for over a week now. We should be allowed to discuss it openly without spoiler tags. Anyone coming into an Avengers: Endgame thread a week after the actual release and expecting people to not talk openly about it is a fucking cunt.

SPOILER: show
Iron Man dies.

Captain America goes to live in the past.

#nomorespoilertags #stayoutofthethreadifyoudon'twantspoilers

Kalyx triaD 05-03-2019 08:45 PM

I recall getting a lot of shit for saying that exact point. Do not understand going in a movie's thread post-launch and having a Pikachu face over seeing spoilers.

Seanny One Ball 05-03-2019 09:22 PM

That's just willfully prickish

Seanny One Ball 05-03-2019 09:25 PM

Aside from that nobody is making an issue of it besides you two.

So you're effectively spoiling nothing until some poor unsuspecting bastard wanders in here because the thread title doesn't notify spoilers and sees some blatant storyline give aways.

It's common courtesy... Who has a problem with common fucking courtesy?

Damian Rey 2.0 05-03-2019 10:52 PM

I think once it's been a week, time to let the spoilers flow. I didn't get a chance to see it till Tuesday so it'd have been ruined for me.

SPOILER: show
Fuck me, Tony's death was so damn good.

Kalyx triaD 05-04-2019 02:14 AM

Or don't enter the thread til you see it. It's saved text, it isn't going anywhere.

Rammsteinmad 05-04-2019 06:21 AM

Yeah, it's one thing if someone lets something slip on your Facebook timeline, but to actively go into a message board thread dedicated to the film and not expect spoilers is stupid.

Seanny One Ball 05-04-2019 07:50 AM

To actively go into a thread where everybody is using spoiler tags and drop a huge spoiler just to be a cunt is ridiculous behaviour.

This thread opened long before the movie did. Without the word "Spoiler" in the title how is anybody supposed to know that the thread contains them when before it did not?

There's no excuse for it and he should get a ban for it.

GD 05-04-2019 08:23 AM

Seanny, I wish you could see Endgame on opening night.

Seanny One Ball 05-04-2019 08:25 AM

I should have, apparently.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-04-2019 08:29 AM

I did intentionally stay out of this thread until I was able to see it yesterday; I know what you glorious fucks are like.

On a serious note, these opportunities don't come across as often in a lifetime. You still have "The Rise of Lukewalker" to look forward to.

Savio 05-04-2019 09:58 AM

Reminds me of when Kris P got angry that people were discussing UFC 132 results in the UFC 132 thread.

Seanny One Ball 05-04-2019 11:29 AM

I'm not mad at it. I don't find spoilers particularly devastating.

I think it's shit for anybody that does though and it's not on.
Stop malicious spoilers. You have tags for a reason.

Kalyx triaD 05-04-2019 12:31 PM

It's a thread about the movie.

Kalyx triaD 05-04-2019 12:32 PM

You're gonna have ban me when I see Rise of MaRey Sue.

Ruien 05-04-2019 12:43 PM

What else would be discussed in this thread? So we use spoilers for discussing the movie. Fine. What would not be in spoilere?
