Turner said Wednesday that TNT’s wrestling series AEW: Dynamite will move to TBS in January 2022. The move comes as TNT is adding the new hourlong series AEW: Rampage, which will debut August 13 at 10 p.m. ET.

Dynamite is currently in the middle of Season 3 on TNT, with a new episode of the All Elite Wrestling series coming tonight at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

TNT will debut four new pro wrestling specials annually as part of the new deal announced today, which will culminate with the AEW’s move to TBS next year. Last year, All Elite Wrestling extended its relationship with WarnerMedia through 2023, renewing AEW Dynamite on TNT and planning a new night of programming which became Rampage.

Sounds good to me.

The 4 supershows sounds similar to Clash of the Champions and I'm all for that.

They'd be replacing 4 episodes of Big Bang Theory if the move was today...sounds like a win for the TBS network honchos.

TBS is actually in more homes than TNT, it's a win for rasslin fans.

So will the new show also be on TBS, or will Rampage remain on TNT?

Would be weird to move their flagship show but leave the new one.

I want to know how this changing the taping/touring schedule.

My guess is Rampage will tape before Dynamite (or maybe some of it after if any big names are on). So it'll be wherever they're on the road.

AEW Dark might go away, or become something where they just continue to tape it at Daily's Place every week on off-days, depending on how many non-contracted talent they want to keep around.

August 2021 -
TNT starts AEW: Rampage on TNT, Friday nights where it'll remain.

January 2022 -
AEW: Dynamite swaps from TNT to TBS (assume the same time) and shouldn't have anything that interferes with its time slot

The big 4 TNT special events will be scheduled as to not interfere with NBA/NHL.

I'm guessing if Dark/Elevation aren't axed by then that they'll be taped in front of the Dynamite/Rampage crowds because I sure as hell wouldn't want to attend just a 1hr Rampage show.

The Observer site says Rampage will also move to TBS in January but I don't see any official info about it

The new Wednesday night “war” is between Dynamite and whether it can be as effective as old Big Bang Theory reruns.

The hype from AEW is dying off now. The only people watching AEW are Meltzer Sheep and the ratings are going to just keep plummeting. TNT is getting out while the getting is good so AEW can go fail on TBS.

They’ll bounce AEW around to whatever channel they want, because they think (/know) wrestling fans are losers that have very little appeal to advertisers, no matter how Meltzer tries to spin their numbers.

They’re cheap content whores for Warner. Impossible to get excited about this shit. They can’t make Dynamite good before they had another fucking show?

And people will gobble their dick down because they’re not WWE despite being an even bigger mess in some ways. Because marks are still a thing.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Dark shows gets dropped to make room for Rampage. Plus it would fix the issue of the two Dark shows being way too similar to each other in format.

Right now, they are looking at around 5+ hours of content needing to be taped each week and probably having to do it all in one location since the every other week taping schedule is only happening because of COVID. Only way around that would be to split the tapings over two days like they do now at Daily's Place.

Based on some tv ratings stuff, TBS averaged around 415k for their shows last year and down huge from the 1.15 million they averaged the year prior.

Seeing as AEW's average for their shows was a lot higher than what TBS was averaging and TBS is in around the same number of homes as TNT, might be looking at a similar situation to when WWE had their ECW shows on Syfy. WWE's ECW shows routinely did better numbers than what Syfy was averaging for their other shows.


Edit: Based on network rankings last year, TBS was watched more than TNT during primetime hours so AEW might not be affected or at least not that badly from switching networks unlike what happened to Impact years ago. TBS was ranked #14 while TNT was ranked #18.
