All things considered, it could have been a lot worse. I personally don't love that it was Adam Cole, but it serves the purpose of solidifying him as a heel, a bigger asshole than the now babyface* MJF, and the furthering of a possible spark of this going somewhere with the "associates" reveals that AEW will prob'ly extinguish in short order.

At least it wasn't Jungle Boy or Orange Cassidy or some shit.

I honestly didn't think of the boot, its a good point and probably explains a bit of the clunkiness tbh.

I am happy with it being Cole, everyone now wants to claim it was the obvious outcome but go back in time a week and the internet was full of theories. In so far as an intrigue angle it did its job despite every man and his dog now claiming it was obvious.

What they do with it will be interesting if MJF really is out for a while and AC is still out a while. Hard to keep an angle hot when ones gone and the other is injured.

Mr. Nerfect 01-05-2024 06:12 PM

No one gives a shit. MJF is dead in the water if he is still with AEW.

It is hilarious he spent 2 years doing the whole "bidding war of 2024" and no one's talking about him, only Sasha

Difficult to do this story whilst being a white meat babyface/company man.

True. TK really fucked up his whole aura and character.

xrodmuc316 01-06-2024 10:30 PM

So now they have Edge fueding with Griff Garrison and Cole Karter? Gotta love that creative freedom!!!:rofl::rofl:

rez 01-07-2024 03:35 AM

So Darby and Stinger are like 26-0 they said tonight. wowza..def Sting's last match will be against Darby and I hope he doesn't kill him.

rez 01-07-2024 03:37 AM

Stinger really needs to come out more without the long shirt and embrace his muscular old man body.

rez 01-07-2024 03:40 AM

Dude needs to retire as Surfer Sting. Long trunks, wrestling boots, and no shirt

rez 01-07-2024 04:01 AM

I'm gonna call it. HHH is going to lend out Undertaker for a cameo for Sting's retirement

rez 01-07-2024 04:02 AM

Not to wrestle. He'll just slowly make his way to the ring.

rez 01-07-2024 04:08 AM

I think AJ will eventually make his way to AEW... Not sure what year he is on his contract.

AEW has crossed into new levels of bad. You can’t objectively argue that the booking even makes sense anymore. It’s gone beyond an issue of taste. That is going to do a lot of damage to their already dwindling ratings.

Only way he goes to AEW is if WWE releases him or doesn't renew his contract.

Mr. Nerfect 01-07-2024 06:29 PM

Who can be excited about this Undisputed Kingdom stable? People are also going to see the long-term direction being alluded to and reject it because it isn’t very good. Babyface Luchasaurus and Cole/Wardlow are not going to get anyone’s senses going. It’s also basically the same story lol. But Tony sticks to his bad ideas, so people are probably groaning at the commitment to this bad direction.

Ben Rodrigues 01-07-2024 06:51 PM

Just listened to Cornette's break down of the Devil reveal. Great stuff! I haven't been keeping up with AEW since Punk got fired but if what these two are saying is accurate - hilarious

Overall, it was obvious. Even from the start, it seemed like this was the direction of pairing up Cole and MJF to begin with, just so AC could "outsmart" him, and be what was supposed to be a double turn of sorts... since MJF was a heel that everyone liked and Adam Cole was a babyface running on expiring sympathy.

However, I don't think either of them or Tony imagined that them being a babyface tandem would get over as hot as it did, so they kept running with it. On top of that, the injuries started piling up on both guys, fucking up a storyline that was likely supposed to wrap up months ago given how fast TK likes to burn through angles.

However, what happens in recent history about anything "obvious"? Everyone is usually inclined to do the Vince Russo thing and "swerve, bro" because the if anyone can see it coming, then it must not be good. Every ending has to have some M Knight Shamalyan twist just to fool the dirt sheets and smart fans, right?!

Again, they could've tried to drop in Danhausen or Kip Sabian or Hook for zero reason other than "HA, WE FOOLED YOU!" and it is at least good they didn't try that.

Mr. Nerfect 01-08-2024 12:26 AM

It is interesting that Tony hasn’t seemed to be able to secure any of the talent that WWE released recently. I wonder if this is talent’s prerogative or if this is some 3D chess in terms to WWE whispering some suggestions about whether to work or not work if they want to come back.

Mr. Nerfect 01-08-2024 12:27 AM

I still don’t understand why the devil? Why…do that? It doesn’t help Adam Cole. I also don’t see why Samoa Joe worked with them after promising to help MJF. How does this make sense?

I think your pretty much spot on here. In a world built on the swerve (wrestling in general) predictable is often the best outcome and I think this is one of those cases. For anyone watching it was all there and the real element of doubt was swerve for swerves sake.

Your call out about the tag team bit of it running long is a good one.

Mr. Nerfect 01-08-2024 05:24 AM

I think they should probably move on from this Undisputed Kingdom stuff pretty quickly. I was thinking today they could have Strong fail to win the International Title. War flow can be sent in to do it. He succeeds where Strong fails. Jealousy. When Adam Cole is healed, he demands the belt. Wardlow says no way and starts whooping both Cole & Strong. You can do a triple threat between them at some point. Taven & Bennett can go off as a team. I’d consider tying Evil Adam Cole to the Don Callis Family stuff. Puts him with a more visually interesting group.

Kyle O’Reilly can return and be offered a spot with Cole and he can turn it down, be a face.

I think that puts them in more appropriate spots and can move the story in a less bland direction.

xrodmuc316 01-08-2024 01:15 PM

If you missed Collision this week, it is just like how the Jaguars missed the playoffs :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tom Guycott 01-09-2024 11:42 PM

Surprised there isn't anything about Tony trying to make a point about WWE shoehorning Jinder Mahal that, of course, backfired spectacularly because it shines a big light on his own shitty booking.

The only positive that could come from this is that it sets up an instant first feud for [insert whatever name WWE gives HOOK from their name generator] vs Jinder when Taz's kid jumps ship.

Ben Rodrigues 01-10-2024 12:12 AM

I enjoyed the back and forth between Bischoff and Khan on Twitter

Sepholio 01-10-2024 12:15 AM

Yep, serious foot in mouth moment from him again. MJF was like 1-5 in 2022 before not rassling for 4 months, coming back and winning the battle royale, and then the title.

I love that Jinder retweeted and said something like "Who tf is Hook?"

Ben Rodrigues 01-10-2024 12:23 AM

I see heaps of stuff on Wardlow dropping off but what about Hook? He was quite over a few years ago... don't hear much about him now.

Sepholio 01-10-2024 12:27 AM

He's the same as always. Appears every once in awhile and squashes someone else who is never used. Hangs out with comedy jobbers. He may be 28-1, but it's hard for me to take him seriously at all. He's basically the boss of the low card/novelty acts. I have no idea why they've booked a guy so strongly while he's basically an afterthought 98% of the time. It's weird. And now that they finally seem to be pulling the trigger on him, it's well over a year too late and almost all of his hype is gone. That ship sailed long ago. Hopefully he does better in NXT when they get their hands on him.

Sepholio 01-10-2024 12:29 AM

Hope NXT gets Taz as a trainer too tbh. Want to see him create an entire class of suplex machines.

Sepholio 01-10-2024 12:31 AM

MmmmmMmMMmMm Bron expanding his arsenal with some new suplexes crafted by Taz.....

drave 01-10-2024 09:43 AM

Bron has the look to be Suplex Machine 2.0

Do eeeeeeet

He also has the look to "choke someone out". Do that too.

Mr. Nerfect 01-12-2024 02:39 PM

I’m pretty sure I didn’t “get it” when I saw Hook. He seemed green a shit from memory. But maybe I’m crossing him up with someone? I don’t even know how well he would do in NXT. He just doesn’t seem very interesting tbh.

TK fucked up. Again. Another shitty look for AEW while they are chasing a TV deal with ANYONE. Keeping in mind they’ve got giant expenditures. He’s only got himself and his product to blame if it ends up impossible for him to ever recoup money on this and daddy takes it all away.

I went into the specifics in another thread, but something I didn’t mention that others picked up on is that TK randomly books people into title matches all the time. Abadon getting a TBS Title shot was one I noticed. I don’t remember the last time I read anything about The Kingdom getting a win on Dynamite.

Mr. Nerfect 01-12-2024 02:40 PM

You gotta love the shitshow.

Hooks an interesting one, he was real hot there for a while and he really wasnt doing a lot just squashes and kind of built as a bad ass despite his size. His promo work is clunky, his ring works pretty clean and keeps improving but hes so small while working a bigger mans style I'm not sure how far it can take him. I will say he seems strong AF, some of his suplexes are impressive!

I'm curious how they handle him vs. Joe, I see no way Hook beats him. Given Joes a new champ anything but Joe over pretty strong seems silly. Maybe we get the old Joe hits him with all hes got, totally in control but Hook wont die and gains respect type deal.

Mr. Nerfect 01-15-2024 07:12 AM

Lol, I heard Cornette describe The Bucks’ return so I had to see it for myself. Afterwards, for fun, I actually read the YouTube comments. Almost ALL of them are negative. You’re not going to get The Bucks by on the graces of fans shoehorning them into this position.

drave 01-18-2024 03:06 PM

The comment section of youtube is the dregs of all society. Look up a random YT video and go to comments. Anything about anything is negative.

Not true.

Big Vic 01-18-2024 04:19 PM

What app has the worst comment section? I'd say Instagram.

XL 01-18-2024 04:22 PM

Sting’s last match being against the Young Bucks is a total dud.
