Is NBA the easiest sport to just buy a championship?

Ruien 05-19-2017 10:16 PM

Love how the Celtics are showing their expected excellence right now.

Clerk 05-21-2017 06:17 AM

this cavs team would beat ANY team.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-21-2017 09:58 PM

Not the bank.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-21-2017 11:02 PM

Fuck you Clerk. This ain't over.

Emperor Smeat 05-21-2017 11:07 PM

Wow at that shot by Bradley to win the game.

Ruien 05-21-2017 11:16 PM

Haha awesome. Go Celtics. Fuck Jamesland.

ClockShot 05-23-2017 07:05 AM

Did not expect the San Antonio Spurs to just get steamrolled.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-23-2017 11:08 AM

Durant speaks truth on the nature of sport. People can't accept.

Meh. Lost their mvp and Tony Parker. Pretty sure if LeBron and JR Smith go down they will be swept too by Golden State. Same thing for the Warriors if Durant and Clay to go down to the Cavs.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-24-2017 12:08 AM

Damn it. At least they got one. Hope they can pick up another at Home to bring it back to the Cleve

Emperor Smeat 05-24-2017 12:18 AM

Yeah. Was good they managed to get Lebron in early foul trouble and a big lead for a while but couldn't stop Kyrie's red hot streak while Lebron was benched and the 3rd Q.

Kyrie having almost as many points as the Cs combined in the 3rd Q ended up being a dagger for the Cs chances.

Evil Vito 05-24-2017 11:18 AM

Wish there were a conceivable way for the NBA to have 10-12 viable contenders in any given year, but that's just never going to happen.

Super teams are here to stay.

Ruien 05-24-2017 11:26 AM

There have never been that many teams though. 4, maybe 5 tops, have ever really been contenders.

Really, the playoffs were good for the most part. Jazz/Clippers went 7 games. Same with Cs and Wizards. Houston and Spurs had a really good series.

Of course Warriors and Cavs killed there first 2 match ups. Think if the Patriots played the 8th best team in the ACC. It will be a blowout.

It does suck Spurs lost their mvp and Tony Parker otherwise the Warriors would have been tested.

Evil Vito 05-24-2017 11:33 AM

Yeah but the NBA is as deep as its ever been from a talent standpoint, and it only gets better as more and more great players are coming into the league every year.

I really don't think it's a stretch where you can get to previously unforeseen levels of contending teams instead of dudes just banding together to get a guaranteed Finals trip.

Evil Vito 05-24-2017 11:34 AM

Even with stuff like the Celtics/Wizards series, yeah it went 7 games but everybody knew they were just playing for the right to get dropped by Cleveland. It's just a shame that there is really no suspension of disbelief in the NBA.

Ruien 05-24-2017 11:45 AM

Well, Warriors ran through the league for 2 years before landing Dursnt. Hell, Spurs were the ones who grabbed Aldridge and that failed.

There will always be the teams on top because it's all about who is better at the game. Coaching and such barely matter. You put LeBron on Miami this year and that team will crush the entire east.

What about LeBron on the Knicks? :shifty:

Evil Vito 05-24-2017 12:28 PM

An out there idea that obviously has zero chance of happening would be to just kill the draft entirely. All rookies enter as free agents.

The reason being - the real dregs of the NBA are run poorly from the top. Giving them lottery picks just leads to really talented guys wasting their careers. But at the same time, the top 5 level picks are going to want a platform to maximize future earnings, a platform that probably won't be available to them on a team as loaded as the Warriors.

So the hope would be most of the top rookies sign up with the middle of the road teams and you wind up with more actual contenders. The bottom tier teams would still be fucked but there'd still be a potential for a lot more parity than what currently exists.

McLegend 05-24-2017 10:52 PM

Lebron James is lot bigger now then he was in 2010-2011.

No one talks about that, because one cares. I understand.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-25-2017 04:04 PM

Are you saying he's on the gas?

Emperor Smeat 05-25-2017 10:33 PM

Lebron broke Jordan's record for most playoff points in NBA history.

In terms of comparisons, Lebron needed 32 more playoff games in order to break the record.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-26-2017 12:10 AM

:(

Well, at least the C's have number one choice. Whenever LeBron slows down the C's will be there. Strong team and great season.

Clerk 05-26-2017 03:11 AM

lmao remember after the celtics beat the wizards? yes the wizards lol. and they were chanting "We want Cleveland" lol are you sure?? anyway celtics if you were smart draft ball, monk, or fox. and in other news the king of akron will be once again an nba champion, destroy kd, and embarrass the warriors. biblical huehuehue

Ruien 05-26-2017 09:51 AM

Cs won't ever win a title with Thomas as their primary player. Really should trade him if possible but I doubt he has a lot of demand. Sure you will beat the good teams but you can't hide him defensively once you go against Golden State, Cavs, Spurs, Rockets, or any other legit title contending team.

Also, draft another guard will be terrible if you keep Thomas. LeBron has the ability to destroy any guard at will. Look at what happened to Derrick Rose.

About to be 2-0 Clerk. Only TR-NAC The Magnificent may huehuehue.

Emperor Smeat 06-04-2017 11:06 PM

Warriors have the weirdest record going on right now and all because of a meme from a toaster.

29-1 in last 30 games and the only loss was due to Klay Thompson having the night off.

Ruien 06-04-2017 11:44 PM

If Warriors sweep the playoffs are they considered the best team ever in a single year? Only debatable thing is they would have lost game 1 to the Spurs is Leonard does not go down.

Evil Vito 06-08-2017 12:00 AM

The outcome of this season was determined last July. I've never seen a season in any sport be this much of a formality.

The Cavs should recruit Westbrook this offseason for next year's finals. Only way to up the stakes is to include KD/Westbrook feud obvs

Clerk 06-10-2017 01:50 AM

The King of Akron will do it..... AGAIN!!!

the early front runner for the 2017 Droford™ Sports Forum Dunce award goes to Clerk

Evil Vito 06-13-2017 09:12 AM

Cavs come up short again next year and LeBron decides to sign with Golden State for 2018. Everyone takes pay cuts to make it happen. 98-0. League implodes.

Shit it'll be close Ronic Vs. Clerk.

Clerk 06-14-2017 02:49 AM

if you dont think the nba is rigged. explain what just happened. nobody can beat the king of akron fair

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-14-2017 09:52 AM

The better team lost in fluke last year and added one more player because the Cavs were too loaded themselves. Thus the better team actually won.

McLegend 06-18-2017 12:52 AM

I still am curious how this year would have shaken out had Durant kept his ass in OKC and that organization picked up the piece of the puzzle they needed to do away with The Warriors- which if you remember, already wasn't exactly a cakewalk for GS.

Given how the post season ended, I'm pretty sure my Cavs would have still shit the bed and that Kev would still have gotten his ring... but how much better overall would the sport be if the former Sonics got there instead of being yet another Cavs/Warriors finals that everyone pretty much wrote off as a foregone conclusion since about March?
