"Because [Dance Central DLC] comes with a brand new unique routine with the three difficulties," explains project lead Kasson Crooker, "we have to: engage the choreographer, find the song, license the song, come up with a routine, get them into a [motion capture] suit, shoot all the choreography, integrate the animation, build the filter system, the flash cards, the [voiceover] for 'Break it Down' -- it's a pretty elaborate process that is not only a lot more expensive, but a lot more time consuming."

So there you have it -- Dance Central DLC costs more to make, ergo it costs more to buy. But Kinect's THE FUTURE OF VIDEOGAMES, so it's worth it, right?

If Ono-san's tweets are anything to go by, he had quite the successful pitch to Capcom's boss.

I imagine we'll be getting a proper Darkstalkers announcement next E3 or sometime around MvC3's launch.

Some guys have made a scale size Elite costume from halo which is fully mobile.
Looks sweet

Kalyx triaD 06-30-2010 07:00 AM

If that's to scale I'd shit my pants if those things invaded Earth, Spartan II assistance or not.

Drakul 06-30-2010 09:43 AM

A few people have made fully mobile mechs and robots and stuff. I'd have thought someone, somewhere would have built an Optimus Prime by now.

I'm not going to bump a 6 month old thread about it so I'll say it here:
I played the Mass Effect 2 demo yesterday. I got bored of ME1 but, playing the demo for ME2, I actually really enjoyed it.
I don't have money to throw on games right now so I was using the "the text is too small on an SDTV so I wont bother" excuse but then I found out how to make the text readable on an SDTV. Now I want to pick it up. Along with Dead Rising. I bought a 360 specifically to play GTA IV, DR & ME. Couldn't play DR cos text was too small. I've fixed the issue so I can pick it up again.

What I want to know is why did they decide to put spoilers in the demo? Anyway, hoping I come across it 2nd hand for cheap sometime but I can't see it going cheap for a kong time. I still want to buy Warioware DIY and Mario Galaxey 2.

G 06-30-2010 10:54 AM

What spoilers were in the demo?

Drakul 06-30-2010 11:23 AM

You play the start of the game and, after a certain point, it Autosaves and a screen comes up saying that buying the full game will let you continue from that save but from that point on in the demo, they are skipping to a later stage and it contains spoilers.
I didn't continue after the warning incase I did buy the full game.

For some reason, when creating your Captain Shepard, you have a little code at the bottom of the screen that changes based on how you look. Not sure what that's for if you carry save data over from the demo.

G 06-30-2010 11:48 AM

That code is your unique code to share with others incase they want the same looking Shepard. There is a website with all kinds of celebrity codes and stuff.

LoDownM 06-30-2010 02:19 PM

"What we announced this time is a project where we will have consecutive releases of titles that were debuted on Dreamcast," Sega producer Yosuke Okunari told Impress Watch, as translated by Andriasang. "Separate from this, we're of course thinking about ports of Saturn games. It's the same as how Sega Ages and Virtual Console were separate existences. It's not that we have no intention of porting Saturn titles, so please share your requests."

We've already made our selfish wishes for Sega's next batch of downloadable Dreamcast games, but if they're going to give us an inch, we're going to take a yard.

So, let's get this list started. Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragon Zwei, Shining Force III...

Blizzard is doing something potentially amazing with their forums:

Quote:

The official forums have always been a great place to discuss the latest info on our games, offer ideas and suggestions, and share experiences with other players — however, the forums have also earned a reputation as a place where flame wars, trolling, and other unpleasantness run wild. Removing the veil of anonymity typical to online dialogue will contribute to a more positive forum environment, promote constructive conversations, and connect the Blizzard community in ways they haven't been connected before. With this change, you'll see blue posters (i.e. Blizzard employees) posting by their real first and last names on our forums as well.
This will commence with the updated Battle.net and Starcraft 2's release. I totally. Fucking. Agree.

LoDownM 07-06-2010 01:54 PM

It won't work.

Starting next week there will be a new way — a third way — for Xbox 360 users to browse the 250-some Xbox Live Arcade games offered through Microsoft's console. No, the first two methods weren't good enough.

Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360 launched in the fall of 2005, with Geometry Wars Retro Evolved leading the pack of arcade-style games that cost five or 10 bucks. The high volume of weekly XBLA releases caused a problem: cluttered content. Enter the 2008 "New Xbox Experience" with its streamlined interface and, well, not a streamlined enough one to efficiently display 250-or-so XBLA games.

http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...ionarcade2.jpg

That brings us to attempt #3: Destination Arcade. Next week, Microsoft will launch an app that Xbox 360 users can download to their console and use to sort through XBLA games better.

"It was starting to get cumbersome," Microsoft producer Justin Robey told Kotaku today. "Destination Arcade is an a opportunity to find games better instead of having to browse through a big list."

The Destination Arcade is designed to offer some of the things shoppers of physical, disc-based games enjoy, such as the ability for you to, in Robey's words, "look at games your friends have played" or "have that guy behind the counter who can say what games are like the ones you like."

The way this works is through the better filtering options in Destination Arcade and an extra content-rating system. Users of Destination Arcade will be able to sort games by developer, rating or price, and also check a tab for a list of the games that are on sale. They'll also be able to "like" games similarly to the way you can thumbs-up something on Facebook. Destination Arcade will keep track of those likes and let you see a display of which games your friends like the most. Another piece of the app will look at which games you like and find ones that are similar and worth recommending.

Microsoft has an impressive Summer of Arcade roster of games coming later this season and surely doesn't want you having any trouble finding the good stuff. In a race to keep up with the best parts of the Steam store or Amazon, Microsoft's Xbox 360 store for XBLA is getting better. It took them three tries, but if it works, why not?

Source.

Kalyx triaD 07-06-2010 10:11 PM

I never had an issue wading through XBLA but if it's optional whatever. Looks slick, at least.

Drakul 07-06-2010 10:16 PM

What I really want them to revise is the feedback we can leave on other players. I've never used my mic but I have negative feedback for trash talking.
I once gave negative feedback to some guy with three stars and, after my negative feedback, he jumped up to five stars. How does that even work?

It feels like the feedback system is utterly useless and pointless.
