ION (creators of that badass premium drum controller for RB2 years back) have a new controller that meshes console and PC sensibilities:

http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/176098-/3_1-noscale.jpg

They say it was made for FPS and MMO applications, which would have been great two generations ago when those genres really suffered on consoles. But now, ironically, this controller would be awkward for today's FPS at least (they currently use the analog triggers, for instance). It may work will with MMOs provided developers take the controller into account. And though they didn't mention it, I suspect it'd work well with RTS games as well.

Really odd thinking Jaguar's controller design was ahead of it's time in some way, as well as arcade ball control (yeah I know that's mouse control).

Emperor Smeat 06-12-2010 09:21 PM

How would that even be comfortable and practical to hold and use?

It will feature classic Contra gameplay/difficulty and ArkSys' trademark high quality sprites. I suppose Konami had them create a new IP instead of calling it Contra for the off-chance fans wouldn't dig it. But we know better. This is a new Contra game.

Look for it on XBLA and PSN, keeping the 2plyr co-op aspect (online). When more info comes around a thread will honor it. Until then, don't you dare touch my spread shot!

EDIT: This game is actually a meta-sequel to Sega Gen's Contra: Hard Corps.

I expect it to be much harder than that, but I love how you can 'feel' ArkSys all over the presentation.

Whoops:

New Xbox 360 model. 250gigs.

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2010 08:40 PM

Project Natal is officially renamed 'Kinect'.

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2010 10:45 PM

Kinect games revealed:

•Kinectimals lets you train and play with 20 different virtual cats, including a lion, cheetah and tiger. (LOL wtf?)

•Joyride, a racing game, lets players use their hands to hold an imaginary steering wheel — pull your hands toward you and push back out for an acceleration boost — and their bodies to execute jumps and tricks. (Ugh)

•Kinect Sports has six activities including boxing, bowling, beach volleyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis. To serve a volleyball, you mimic the real motion; in soccer, you can kick the ball or do a header. (Wii Sports 360)

•Kinect Adventures includes a river-raft time trial and obstacle course, playable by up to four players. On the raft, playing as a duo, you and a partner must lean one way or another to steer. Jumping helps the raft reach special areas for extra points. (Lame)

•Dance Central, in development by MTV Games, brings a So You Think You Can Dance experience home. (LOL)

•Star Wars characters and iconic Disney favorites will be featured in separate new games being developed at Microsoft in conjunction with LucasArts and Disney.

Built-in WiFi.

Funky Fly 06-14-2010 05:20 AM

I guess if mine ever E74s or red rings, I'ma get one of those and trade in the wifi adapter.

Kalyx triaD 06-14-2010 04:41 PM

NCAA 11 demo out now.

Emperor Smeat 06-14-2010 06:15 PM

Couldn't decide if this belonged more in the E3 thread but Gamestop already has the pricing for Kinect and the launch title games. Kinect set to be sold for $149.99 while Kinect games set to be sold for $59.99 each.

Still only a rumor until Microsoft announces the actual prices.

Funky Fly 06-14-2010 06:16 PM

lol fail.

Kalyx triaD 06-14-2010 06:36 PM

Yeah, those are the prices.

Funky Fly 06-14-2010 06:50 PM

Don't get me wrong, I'd drop 60 bones for some shit like Milo any day of the week. But fuck if I'm dropping $60 on a racing game that was supposed to be a free download. For that kind of cash, you're giving me Burnut Paradise or Forza 3, not a fucking Avatar racer or Wii Sports 360.

I previously called this a pompous endeavor, but now I see they're doing almost exactly what I think a remake of GoldenEye should do, I'm slightly turned. Good show.

Emperor Smeat 06-14-2010 07:11 PM

I see Oddjob is in the game as well. Won't take too long before the "No Oddjob" rule goes back into effect.

Kalyx triaD 06-14-2010 09:46 PM

New 360 model available this weekend.

Kalyx triaD 06-14-2010 11:22 PM

Search function coming to Netflix XBL. A small thing, but very helpful.

Not to be a downer, but I kept thinking about Two Worlds the whole time I watched that. So sad.

Kalyx triaD 06-15-2010 01:31 PM

Kojima's not done:

http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/176515-mysterygame.jpg

What could it be?

#BROKEN Hasney 06-15-2010 01:42 PM

Show off the 3DS MGS?

Kalyx triaD 06-15-2010 01:46 PM

That would be cool but looking at the games in the pic it seems to show Konami's 'pillars'. What's a major franchise from the company?

#BROKEN Hasney 06-15-2010 01:51 PM

ZONE OF THE ENDERS.

I can dream :'(

RoXer 06-15-2010 01:52 PM

Peace walker

Kalyx triaD 06-15-2010 02:16 PM

I'm sorry, people. I... I'm swamped. I haven't even touched the surface of content coming out. The pace is crazy. I gotta go eat something. When I return I'll try to grab some clean YouTube vids and more reveals, as well as see what went on with Activision.

Sheesh

BigDaddyCool 06-15-2010 02:18 PM

No one cares, kalyx. I'm sure copying and pasting is really hard work.

RoXer 06-15-2010 02:20 PM

Worse than someone who posts news is someone who adds absolutlely nothing and makes fun of the guy posting news.

BigDaddyCool 06-15-2010 02:21 PM

Like you just did, roxer?

#BROKEN Hasney 06-15-2010 02:22 PM

You don't post news, so no, he didn't just do that.

RoXer 06-15-2010 02:23 PM

I add content and don't make fun Kalyx.

... often

BigDaddyCool 06-15-2010 02:24 PM

I meant more along the lines of not adding anything to the conversation, and neither did you. I win.

BigDaddyCool 06-15-2010 02:24 PM

Well try adding context and making fun of kalyx, it is much funner.

Kalyx triaD 06-15-2010 02:53 PM

Ugh I need to finish the first one. Have been stuck for like 8 months.

LuigiD 06-15-2010 07:33 PM

So what is everyone's opinion on the new "motion control" devices showed today?

Funky Fly 06-15-2010 07:42 PM

Seems like fail right now, but later on when the newness wears off (ie the price drops) I'll probably pick up some of the better offerings on the cheap.

Move > Kinect, if I had to choose. Sorcery looks fun. The new Zelda looks awesome for similar reasons.

1:1 control and actually holding something.

Kinect chatting and the interface looks cool, but not over 100$ cool. To be honest the best app was that Harmonix dancing game, and SKITTLES!
