He said that Marvel's list of heroes headlining the post-Avengers years may well include the Sorcerer Supreme - we're talking 2012, 2013 though.

I'm Marking Out Right Now:

Robert Downey Jr. has officially signed on for Iron Man 2 and Avengers. Don Cheadle has also signed on for Iron Man 2... and Avengers! Jon Favreau, who directed Iron Man, is attached to Avengers as Exec Prod as well.

Ed Norton, despite rumors that he was jipped after Hulk, will return as Bruce Banner. Many credible names have alluded to Hulk appearing in Avengers, though Ed Norton hasn't been spoken about in regard to the project curiously.

They're beginning to Assemble indeed...

Captain's Got Direction!:

Joe Johnston has signed on to direct First Avenger: Captain America. He's currently putting the finishing touches on the Wolfman remake.

"First Avenger" has the important task of leading into the Avengers movie. No pressure, Joe.

ClockShot 11-10-2008 09:23 PM

Johnston is your typical on again, off again type of director. Let's see what he brings to this one.

And where's my Dr. Strange remake?!

Jeritron 11-11-2008 03:29 PM

Not so sure how I feel about Joe "Jurassic Park 3" Johnston directing

Lock Jaw 11-11-2008 03:32 PM

But he also directed Jumanji!

Kalyx triaD 11-11-2008 06:40 PM

JP3 was okay...

Jeritron 11-11-2008 07:42 PM

lol

Thor Animated:

Thor gets an animated series to follow his live action film. A full season is in the works, and that's along with other Marvels cartoons coming around like Iron Man, Avengers, Black Panther to join the recent Wolverine and the X-Men. Busy beavers they are.

Jeritron 11-15-2008 01:10 AM

The little girl from Adventures in Babysitting must be pumped about all this

Princes of the Universe and Show Must Go On might be the best Queen songs, and that's saying something.
Obv Bohemian Rhapsody too

Hulk vs Wolverine Clip/Trailer:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AsKzfApcbt4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AsKzfApcbt4&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Apparently this is actually kinda old, but it seems to confirm Steven Blum is at it again as Logan. That guy's overworked, but I dig the continuity. Could he be the Kevin Conroy of Wolverine? Anyway the movie looks decent, but I'd like to see how much they could stretch an encounter of two characters.

Blitz 12-03-2008 08:12 PM

First shot of Gambit from the Wolverine flick.

I'm.....unimpressed.

Well, the fight itself could last days... maybe weeks. Considering that Hulk's anger makes him stronger and he heals with his rage, and Wolverine has the healing factor.

Kalyx triaD 12-04-2008 12:54 PM

Which would give the guy boarding the fight a heart attack.

I don't mind the casting. What bothers me is in what time frame does Gambit appear? If he's apart of Wolverine's 'distant' past than we can rule out Gambit appearing in proper X-Men films - atleast before a reboot.

XL 12-04-2008 03:07 PM

What I don't get is that they said they wouldn't put Gambit in the X-Men films cos he was "too similar" to Wolverine then they put him in the stand alone Wolverine film!?

Lock Jaw 12-04-2008 07:05 PM

How is Gambit similar to Wolverine at all?

Reavant 12-04-2008 08:42 PM

they didnt give him black and red eyes

Singer was quoted to have said that he wasn't a fan of the Gambit charcter and that he thought he was too similar to Wolverine to put in the films.
Hence when they made X Men 3 after Singer left, they wanted to put Gambit in the film. However they wanted Sawyer from Lost to play him, but he didn't want to do it.

So after that long winded explanation, Singer thought that they were both loners and hence too similar.

Vastardikai 12-05-2008 02:20 AM

yeah, one is older than dirt, overexposed to shit and back (to the point even the Marvel story-writers make fun of it), and is a violent feral madman who can't be killed under normal circumstances and is a loner.

The other is a smooth, almost arrogant, ladies man who attacks at range, has cool eyes, and is a rogue loner.

yeah, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too similar.

:shifty:

XL 12-05-2008 05:46 AM

Precisely. You can bank on the fact that 99.9% of fans don't consider them too similar and would have wanted to see Gambit in the films.

The Destroyer 12-06-2008 03:10 PM

Guess Marvel properties can't win them all these days - Punisher War Zone has been getting some absolutely awful reviews. Shame really, but I suppose it was inevitable when Thomas Jane jumped off. :-\

Funky Fly 12-07-2008 12:15 AM

Not a whole lot of advertising for it either.

Not like the Thomas Jane version got raves either.

Vastardikai 12-07-2008 01:47 AM

Any movie involving the name "Punisher" has pretty much been viewed as utter suck.

Danny Electric 12-07-2008 03:50 AM

Surely an Oscar nomiantion would have come about if they got Dolph Lundgren to reprise his role :)

True, but I didn't think it was actually that bad.

Although the critics seem to think that both are equally terrible, so hey, maybe it's not actually that awful. I think I'll wait for a DVD rental first though.

Jeritron 12-07-2008 03:03 PM

The first punisher was a "crap movie", but it was actually enjoyable if you weren't expecting much.
No real interest in seeing the new one.
The movie looks pretty fuckin awful, and the new Punisher looks the part, but seems like a terrible actor. At least Thomas Jane is a competent actor.

I usually turn out to see the comic movies, even if I know they're going to suck. There's always some interest there for me since I grew up on the characters. With that being said, I had no real intention of going to see the new Punisher despite being fully aware of it coming out this weekend. I think that says something. If I don't give a fuck, who does? Probably nobody except for die hard comic book fans, if that.

It made 4 million dollars on it's opening weekend. 4. That's beyond a flop. Especially for a name brand character with a built in fan base. That's really sad. That's the end of Punisher as any kind of film entity.

.44 Magdalene 12-07-2008 03:05 PM

I was pleasantly surprised by the first Punisher, but Warzone looks like thirty flavors of ass.

Pretty major LOL at Keamy from Lost as The Blob at 38 seconds.

Boondock Saint 12-17-2008 03:07 PM

Looks badass.

Jeritron 12-17-2008 04:12 PM

Looks pretty lame. Have I given my theory on how I think The Dark Knight and Iron Man have killed the comic movie? They're so good, it's hard to stack up. The bar is raised. This can be a good thing, but it will be near impossible to measure up in the future.
This movie will be the first victim of that, since it was made in the same vain as earlier comic movies.

Fox 12-17-2008 04:36 PM

Hm. I dunno. Looks like there's a lot of good stuff in there, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'm not a huge fan of the way they are dressing and putting together Gambit, though.

Lock Jaw 12-17-2008 04:44 PM

What the hell is Gambit doing in an origin movie about Wolverine anyways?

Fignuts 12-17-2008 04:59 PM

Don't know what you guys are talkin about. Looks pretty spiffy to me.

Only thing is, I hope that quick shot of deadpool is before the weapon x procedure.
