It's a prequel based in I think WW2

They are making another one too though

I doubt the majority reviles it as much as you.

Seanny One Ball 05-26-2019 07:07 AM

The majority can endure so much more than the individual.

I really hated it though. You can blame the studio for that, sticking spoilers in the trailer and posters. Dicks.

Paramount recently released a new trailer showcasing Sonic's redesigned look.

Looks much better. Movie still looks trash, tho.

feels v bleak that a group of animators were forced to crunch out an entire do-over of the title character because barely functional adults lost their minds over a children's movie

rez 11-12-2019 09:08 PM

I'm glad they fixed it..def feel bad for the crew that had to crunch time to fix it but ehhh it had to be done unless they wanted to go down as a worse movie than the Mario Bros (which I love to this day).

Most of whom will still not go see the movie anyways

this is true. although, i dunno, i get the feeling some of them feel oddly honour-bound to go now - they demanded the change, and they actually got it, so there's this weird through-line on social media of "giving back" to the crew because "they listened" now

it is... honestly insane

mitchables 11-12-2019 10:58 PM

i mean objectively sonic looks heaps better now but i just can't see how it would be worth the effort, time or money to redo it

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-12-2019 11:35 PM

Now there is a buzz about the movie. Fixing it and announcing it publically was a good idea.

Kalyx triaD 11-13-2019 03:43 AM

No matter if it's good or bad, more people will watch than before the change.

Apparently Paramount had hired the lead artist of Sonic Mania to be in charge of their redesign efforts for this film.

Hesse has a lot of experience with illustrating Sonic. Apart from serving as director and lead animator for the Sonic Mania opening cinematic, he also created the promotional mini-series Sonic Mania Adventures. Additionally, Hesse has contributed as an artist on the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.

According to a report from Indiewire, Sonic's redesign is rumored to have cost Paramount around $5 million.

Also rumored that a lot less work was needed to fix the film due to only a few of the CGI scenes with Sonic were completed by the time of the original trailer's release.

Quote:

A source close to the “Sonic the Hedgehog” production estimates the character redesign cost Paramount less than $5 million. The source says VFX work on the film was far from completed by the time the decision was made to delay the film and redesign Sonic. The only Sonic VFX that were fully completed were reportedly the ones seen in the first trailer, which dropped online April 30. Most of the VFX were not finished, so redesigning Sonic proved not to be as outrageously expensive as it would have been had all of the film’s VFX been done. The source tells IndieWire that any rumor alleging the redesign made the “Sonic” VFX team suffer is far from true.

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in North America hasn't been relevant since this televised version of it aired on ABC from Sept. 18, 1993 to June 3, 1995.

I have no reason to believe that this movie will change that.

If it does, it'll be a fucking miracle.

And I know what I'm talking about on this shit.

= P

It didn't do Shrek any harm

Nick Offerman would have been a cool Doctor Robotnik. Carrey could have been a robot henchman or some shit.

Ruien 02-25-2020 03:39 PM

Really glad this movie is doing well.
